"I'm glad I voted for you" makes no sense except as a blatant example of butt-kissing. Unless Matthews has something against Ben Cardin. I'd like to know what that is.

I can think of one reason why Matthews wouldn't vote for Cardin. Just one. Let's just say that religion trumps race in his 1940's-era mindset.

I'm guessing that Matthews "voted for Steele" when he ran for Lt Governor on Robert Erlich's ticket." I can't imagine that Tweety would vote for that fool when he was actually the name on the ticket.

Wait, yes I can imagine that.

Matthews combined "I'm glad I voted for you" with "I thought you'd be a good senator." Based on that, I think Matthews did mean to say say he voted for Steele in his 2006 Senate race.

Sorry -- "I thought he'd be a good senator." Same point, though.

So: First, Howie Kurtz had better never again cite Chris Matthews as an example of a liberal on MSNBC. Second, I'd beter never again hear from Democrats that Matthews himself would make a good senator. Third, I want to know if Matthews has a problem with the things Steele has done in his campaigns, such as: telling the lie that audience members threw Oreo cookies at him, supposedly questioning his commitment to African-American causes; pretending to be a Democrat; pretending to have the endorsements of prominent Democrats; and busing in homeless people to get paid under the table to hand out his misleading literature. If Matthews doesn't, then I'd better never, EVER hear him complain about any Democratic election tactics.

Wolf Blitzer likes to call Steele a "good, strong Republican" (whatever the hell that means) who ran a "good, strong race for the Senate" (he lost by ten points. Here are some of the highlights of Steele's "strong race:"

        1. Running an ad in which he says "you are going to hear that I'm a bad person, maybe even that I hurt puppies. Actually, I love puppies" (holding a puppy.)

        2. Busing homeless people from Philadelphia in to distribute literature in black neighborhoods in Prince George's County

        3. Seeing to it that that literature listed Steele and Bob Ehrlich (running for re-election as Governor) as Democrats

        4. Seeing to it that that literature also claimed that Steele had received the endorsement of former NAACP chair Kweisi Mfume, who had lost a contentious primary to Cardin a few months earlier.

Yep. Strong Candidate. Strong Republican. Michael Steele.

        Such BS.

Under the guise of expanding the Party, Uncle Steele is being used by the Republicans for the sole purpose of neutralizing and discrediting the black President of the United States.
Michael is an embarrassment to his profession and a disgrace to his people. If he really believes Republicans like him as a leader, he is sadly mistaken.
Do he really think he would be the “head of the RNC” had McCain won the election? All Steele does is what he is told. He was told to apologize to hate-monger Rush Limbaugh and he did, even though he is in politics and Rush is nothing more than a loud-mouth Radio Personality. A man of principle and power does not apologize to an idiot who is beneath him. Since being selected to the RNC post he has done everything to impress his master, while at the same time offend the very people he claim he wants to woo into the Party, black people.
And how does this nut want to woo blacks into a historically exclusive white power structure? Black lingo, Hip Hop, fried chicken and potato salad.
This sell-out does not have enough sense to know that the Republican Party will not respect nor accept stereotypical black images into their Party?
This fool does not know he is offending the very people he want to attract and he is doing it to please white bigots who will not support or defend him when he fail to do deliver on his mission.

Yet Matthews is still considered a liberal by many. How many Republicans do you have to vote for before you aren't a liberal anymore?
