I promise you that ninety-nine percent of Beck's audience spends all their time nodding furiously, while in the back of their minds wondering who this Kappan Trade person is and why he hates America so much.

Also, basically this is a corporate control issue. Who in Beckie's audience cares about that, except when said corp lays them off?

Beckie, go back to Michael Jackson's death watch. BTW, still dead.

True story: last year before the RNC convention I had an e-mail exchange with someone who listened to a lot of talk radio, and who expressed discomfort with McCain as the party's nominee because of his position on precious metals. I asked what that position was, and the person replied, "Haven't you heard of the McCain Fine Gold legislation?"

          Yikes!

I'm pretty sure Beck, and none of his listeners/watchers probably even know what cap and trade is, they just know Obama wants it, so it's gotta be bad for the country, because Obama is a pinko, commie, socialist, liberal, marxist, muslim, radical christian, terrorist, president of these here United States.

As best I remember, this slur dates back to the 2000 election. Rush started calling him "Algore", and pronounced it so that it sounded sort of like "Igor".

I know, I know... it's lame as hell. But, you have to remember that it came from the same intellect that gave us the "Democrat" Party. Plus, you have to remember the limited mental capacity of Rush's audience... they can't handle complicated insults.

I do appreciate it when dittohead morons drop it here, though- its like a helpful little flag which reads "I don't think for myself, these are not my ideas, they are just what my Lord and Master Rush tells me to say."

However, neither of you have proposed a single argument, supported by any facts whatsoever, to support your opinion. I have a question for you, Mr. Beck:

How does it happen that most of our goods are made in China in the first place? I certainly hope it's not conservative business leaders looking to improve their bottom line by purchasing slave labor goods at the cost of American jobs.

Also, perhaps if the cost of those China-manufactured goods goes up, we will go back to making things in this country. We could use a few more jobs around here, in case you haven't noticed. My guess is that you can scarcely see beyond the tip of your nose, based solely on the way you contaminate the airwaves with your ignorance.

How does it happen that most of our goods are made in China in the first place?

Most would say you could blame Former President Clinton on that one. True many items were made in China well before Former President Clinton. But it was the passing of some "mysterious bill" while he was in office that allowed big companies to take those american jobs overseas, and that legacy of sending jobs overseas is still going strong.

So what "mysterious bill" am I talking about...I have no idea of the actual name. You hear the conversation at parties and other small gatherings that bash Former President Clinton. I am sure it has something to do with the PNTR with China, but who knows.

If I understand correctly, you are saying that former President Clinton signed a bill into law forcing huge manufacturing companies to ship their jobs overseas?

That's funny. I had thought that it was big business, pressuring the U.S. government to grant China 'most favored nation' status as a trading partner, allowing them to ship products made there into this country without tariff. Conservatives and big business have, at least since Reagan, been claiming that it is the American worker who costs too much, which, when added to the cost of doing business without poisoning the planet, forced jobs overseas. (Ain't it funny how big expensive homes on acreages are never built next to paper mills, or slaugherhouses, only golf courses?)

The simple truth is, corporate greed sought a better bottom line at the cost of American jobs. You can blame Clinton for many things, but the grasping avarice common to the extremely wealthy is not among them.

It began under Reagan, actually, at least on a large scale. PNTR no doubt added to the problem, but I remember the 'Reagan revolution', and shipping manufacturing jobs overseas to lower costs was a big part of that.

You said 'Most would say you could blame Former President Clinton on that one.' This seemed to me to imply that it was -his- decision to eliminate American jobs in favor of letting the Chinese or Koreans have them. Since American business had the -choice-, shouldn't it be American business who gets -blamed-?

Agreed, blk-in-alabam. He and his Republican Congress also decided to spend billions of worthless dollars on 'Star Wars' missile defense, rather than on much needed infrastructure needs. We are paying for that politically astute economic short-sightedness right now. Taxing into poverty those whom Reagan made rich seems like justice, from that point of view.

OK, let me get this straight, Mr. Beck-
Big business, under Reagan, gave billions to undercut unions, so they could get a better profit margin by shipping jobs overseas, because foreign workers don't cost as much and can be paid pennies on the dollar.
The 90's saw more jobs shipped overseas because of profit. Clinton can't be blamed for that, considering Republicans controlled Congress most of his terms. Advertisers took over our stations and formed the debate.
Shrub cut taxes on big business and corporations because it was supposed to create jobs. I seem to remember Republicans arguing against a modest increase in the minimum wage, because business would lose money.
Now, Beck, because manufacturing jobs exported to China and India lowered the cost of goods, Americans bought them. Gee, you think?
Since when is Glen a learned person of anything? "They feel better having talked to him?" What morons. Listening to him is suicide....

This thread is truly laughable. Much time is wasted leveling dittohead charges and mocking of unsubstantiated claims by the few who are not in the AGW camp, yet a vast majority of the comments here against Beck's claims have little to no substance and are instead simply insults or stereotypes about intelligence levels, or they claim the "deniers" have a lack of understanding of the issues of cap and trade. A few of you even felt it necessary to scrutinize Beck's waistline, the epitome of glib, while offering no counter-argument to his claims.

The tremendous irony to me is that those of you so fully on the AGW /cap-and-trade bandwagon, and there appear to be many of you, are in fact participating in the most extreme example of groupthink to be foisted upon us in a generation.

In an attempt to balance the thread a bit, it is my turn to insult your senses which have apparently been numbed to the droning of Gore, Hansen, Waxman, Markey, and the rest of the Inquisitors who are the true Luddites, flat-earthers, and deniers. You are useful idiots who, like a majority of Americans, have only a superficial understanding of what is at stake with cap and trade. Only a fool would conclude that the bill passed by the house would be good for our economy, but I'm guessing most of you haven't read a single page of it so how would you know? And I'm guessing a majority of you in the AGW crowd aren't even aware of the problems with the IPCC models and the supposed "consensus" attitude. "No, that's just right-wing propaganda...hey, you gonna finish that kool aid?"

Well I for one am a p-o'ed environmentalist. While this AGW puppet show expands to monstrous proportions, the real issues that could be IMMEDIATELY ADDRESSED are falling by the wayside. While trillions will be wasted on the unwarranted, ineffective piece of excrement that is cap and trade, habitat vanishes, species go extinct, and ocean stocks dwindle. While you clowns are busy wondering if Beck is eating too many burgers, animals like Darwin's fox, the black rhinoceros, and the northern woolly spider monkey remain on the critically endangered list, one step removed from extinction. While you Gorebots enjoy your bluefin tuna sushi, over one billion people live without electricity and millions of the poorest in the world die annually from preventable causes (most of those millions are children btw, for all of you compassionate folk who care oh so much).

Your eye is not only off the ball, you are not even in the ball game. The game you are playing is a self-congratulatory candyland fiasco where you don't keep the score and everyone's back is patted. "Great job saving the world today, Billy. Have you seen my IPod?" I implore anyone who is not beyond retrievable and not fully-entrenched in this backward AGW religion to explore the data further and truly dissect that infamous "consensus." For starters, you might want to ask the IPCC to actually include the true effects of the oceans especially, and secondarily the sun, on our climate instead of mitigating them to the bench in your precious false models.

I'll leave you with a quote from Barack Obama, and this is what he said before the election (look up the video if you think this is conspiracy talk--and by the way, he looks pained admitting it): "Under my plan of a cap and trade system electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket." And to hammer it further he continues: "Regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad, because I'm capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it, whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money onto consumers."

So he admits that not only will energy costs skyrocket, industries that use electricity, i.e. all of them, would also suffer increased costs that will be passed down to the consumer (not factored into the CBO's oft-quoted numbers). Man this makes me angry. I'm sick and tired of so-called progressives supporting the destruction of our system under the guise of saving us all. Whether you do it deliberately or out of sheer ignorance (I think it's a combination of both), you perpetuate the notion that Americans are horrible greedy people when most of us are just doing our best to get by with the little we have. Now you invite Washington to penalize us for living and breathing and, god forbid, for driving to work or for heating our house.

Cap and trade will cost all of us dearly. If you have chosen to support it, you have chosen the wrong side. If you don't believe me, I challenge you to read the bill in detail. Since it is being touted as a jobs bill, see the provisions included to help those that will lose their jobs. And while you're reading, you may want to peruse the section on nuclear power development. Oh wait, I forgot, that's off the table. Good luck following your Pied Pipers. I'll be busy trudging along my own path, you dittoheads.

        Well said, galileonardo!,
Looks like the lefties, have nothing to counter that....C'mon not even a couple of "Did Rush tell you to say that?" insults. It's funny how they claim to be so intellectually superior, but yet they never seem to address the issues with facts, nor even compelling arguments. If you don't agree with their skewed logic, they call you a Dittohead and say you're uneducated, because jeeze, you must be, because you don't agree with them.
Here's a fact for all you Libs out there; ALL politicians lie! Democrats, Republicans it doesn't matter. Not one of them has YOUR best interests in mind. Their only driving force is re-election. They'll tell you what you want to hear. Do you think that just because things are proposed by Democrats, that it must be good? (At least it's not a Republican, huh?)
Do yourselves all a favor; Before you put people down because they have a different viewpoint than you, DO SOME RESEARCH!, and don't just read stuff you agree with, like "The Daily Kos".
Have any of you even read this cap and trade bill? I have not read all of it yet, but let me tell you, it's a scary thing.
One thing I don't get is, why is this clip even on here? Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm sure you will), but isn't MMFA's goal to expose the conservative bias in the news media? Clearly Beck was just stating his opinion. Was it just because he was on Fox News? (Your favorite target)We all know Olbermann never states ANY opinions on his broadcasts.
I think this is just an outlet for you lefties, so you can feel superior by putting down people you don't agree with. I say that in this case because out of all the comments here, not one of you actually came up with a fact, nor an argument to prove Beck was wrong. Just alot of name-calling.
