OK, put on you racial earmuffs for a second, because I'd like to address this idiocy using word Mr. Beck and his listeners can understand.

POOR, UNEMPLOYED BLACK PEOPLE ALREADY HAVE HEALTHCARE, YOU EMPTY-HEADED BAFFOON! IT'S CALLED MEDICAID!!!

THE PEOPLE THAT WILL BENEIFT FROM HC REFORM WILL BE THOSE HARD-WORKING BLUE-COLLAR WHITE FOLKS THAT WORK FOR SMALL COMPANIES, OR IN LOW-PAYING SEVRICE JOBS, THAT WORK HARD ENOUGH TO MAKE TOO MUCH MONEY TO QUALIFY FOR MEDICAID!!!

(I sincerely hope that no one will take my black/white dichotomy there seriously. It's just amazes me when their logic doesn't even jive with their stereotypes!)

Right. Apparently this guy thinks that 98% of entrepreneurs are decendants of slaves.

(Again - before anyone gets any racial misconceptions here, I do realize that there are in fact many black entrepreneurs. I'm just framing the issue in a way that a moron like Beck can understand.)

(Although doing so almost makes me feel dirty.)

And likewise, Hannity thinks that health care reform is only for people who do not demonstate "personal responsibility." What world are he and Beck living in? A very sheltered one, I am afraid. Their ignorance is breath-taking. Sure, private insurance is working out just fine for everyone. Oh yeah, and we have the "best health care in the world."

Do you suppose Beck and Hannity are not real people, after all, just holograms and programmed robots? Might as well be.

Is it me or is Becky making less and less sense with each passing day? I think I'm fairly smart, but I don't have a clue what Becky is talking about most of the time.

How is this the beginning of reparations? Glenny you continue to amaze me. Prefacing your comment with Obama says reparations don't go far enough so you can smear him with that nasty phrase "Community Organizer" and rant about ACORN.

Here's the kind of reparations Beck omits

For the quarter ended June 30, UnitedHealth [based in Minnetonka, MN] said net earnings were $859 million -- a 154.9 percent increase from $337 million a year earlier, when earnings were dragged down by big lawsuit settlement costs.

Earnings per share jumped to 73 cents from 27 cents a year earlier. Analysts had forecast 70 cents. Quarterly revenue was up slightly, to $21.7 billion from $20.3 billion.

I made the huge mistake of reading some of the Fox Nation comments under a Beck item. The sentiments expressed in support of this completed moron were unsettling, to say the least, but the one that got to me the most was "at least he's trying". He's trying. Yay.

I love it. "at least he's trying." Yeah...

That's not even good enough for my 5 & 7 year old autistic sons.

And in any case, both of them still usually make a hell of a lot more sense that Glenn Beck! (see: www.myspace.com/on_the_spectrum <- shameless self promotion, but hey: AT LEAST I'M TRYING!) ;)

No it is not! Nor is it good enough for my 9 year old, twin, autistic grandsons. Their father works minimum of 12 hours a day and can not afford to add his wife to his employers provided Health Ins. At least for the time being he and the boys are covered. He is also one of the few , lucky enough, in this area to still have a job. They live as minimal as possible and still can not afford health care for his wife.

Very good point, but not quite what I meant. :) Although lack of health insurance to cover autism treatment IS a complete disgrace! I'm 100% with you there!

I was just saying that despite my child's diagnosed and doumented cognitive impairments, they are still expected to do the best work they can, and follow all the rules. If they act out, in school or at home, for example, their are consequences, and saying 'they're trying' doesn't cut it, autism or not.

Much in the same way, I'm not going to let Mr. Beck's cognitive shortcomings (in his case plain old-fashined stupidity) excuse his utter on-air incompetence and intellectual dishonesty. (On a good day! THIS is just illogical nonsense!) If Mr. Beck is going to justify his exsistance on the airways, (and he's NOT, but hypothetically) 'trying' just ain't gonna cut it. I just can't see how anyone else can be stupid enough to take this bozo seriously. At what point does even a conservative wake up and realize, 'This guy just ain't a good spokesman for us!'?

Actually Eddie, I was on the same track with you, regarding the boys but immediately after my first sentence, my thoughts went right to our desperate need for health care. I just did not start a new paragraph. I have anxiety attacks over these lame excuses for not putting it through.

Back to the boys. I commend you for not letting your sons use their cognitive impairments as an excuse. We have made it clear to our boys, that regardless of the extra struggle & hardships they may endure, it is no excuse for not being the very best they can be. It has been a lot of hard work, tears and expense but worth every bit of it. Eddie, they turned nine in May and now more often than not people seem genuinely shocked, when they learn of their disabilities. Academically they are behind other 9 year olds. At times they still have difficulty adjusting to new surroundings, other than that, you have to be around them a long time before you detect some thing different going on. In a few areas the are advanced. They are also delightful and a blessing. My heart goes out to my son. He has not been one day without a job. Yet their lifestyle is so restricted because of health care. Their mother works none stop for their advancement and can not even get health care. It takes all they have to keep the boys covered.

Your last paragraph is so right on. It fits perfectly for Limbugh, Hannity, Savage and their ilk. I do not know how anyone can take them serious either. They do though. It seems that if a person listens to one of them, they listen and revere all of them. I do not get it. They are filled with such ugliness and hate. A lot like I feel for them ha.

I am really not making the connection. So because Obama said that Reparations don't go far enough, the healthcare bill is about reparations?????

I have a theory that most of the opposition to Obama from the right, no matter what they say is racial, they are afraid (pardon the expression) of the black guy in charge. They are afraid the whities are going to loose the country to the black mob. I have heard it implied a million times. This is the only possible explanation for Beck's topic here.

Notice anything missing from this thread, Nerz ? The usual wingnuts that get so offended when more subtle racism by the right is pointed out, protesting that the dang Libruls are too sensitive and see racism everywhere.

You know when one of their guys slips up and gets a little more overt like this, they skip right by that MMFA item.

Sort of like the recent items about the murder of Dr. Tiller. All of the usual nutters suggesting their right wing heroes are just entertainment, and whining about free speech, got mysteriously "very busy" and weren't able to post when the predictable rsults came to pass.

A very good point. It's sort of like the owner of a pit bull watching their dog maul the mailman and pretending they don't see it, all the while quietly reveling in the mayhem their attack dog is creating.

They can't afford to be caught cheering it on, but they sure as hell don't want to stop the show.

              Nerz, a friend and I forward all the wingnut emails we get to each other, and I just found one I received this morning on DailyKos;

              The Spelling Champ

Although the second one with the uber-manly wingnuts is a pretty good little bit of fantasy too.

The GOP is really playing to the racist, angry base more than ever.I realize the vast majority of conservatives are keyboard-mashing cowards who are harmless aside from their votes, but doesn't it seem like more and more of the propaganda seems to be aimed at riling up the furthest fringes of these good Christian Real Americans®?

                Nerz and Col. -

I think you two have nailed it. The wingnuts are all about throwing a rock and hiding their hand; they pretend that, say, the birthers have legitmate concerns rather than just admitting that they hate Obama and will do everything they can do to rile up other wingnuts to an equal fervor. They lie about their motivations, they lie about their claims, and they lie about Obama, but they have enough of a sense of shame that they don't want to admit that they're lying. This, in my opinion, makes them even worse. They don't even have the integrity to admit their own bigotry. Disgusting and cowardly, all in one.

Beck: "We found a statement from Barack Obama... uh... it was on... uh, it was, because it was on the radio. It was on some Chicago, uh, minority radio station. And they said, 'Are you for reparations?'"

I'm pretty sure he's actually talking about Obama's 2001 interview with WBEZ -- an interview that was found and replayed ad nauseum last year. WBEZ is the NPR affiliate in Chicago, and I wouldn't exactly call it "minority" (except perhaps in terms of ratings share).

      Let's Beck-ify Beck for just a moment:

Mr. Beck is not about what he says he is! He is a racist. He is for crushing the poor people of this country under the iron boot of conservative fascism. I don't care... (pretending to call of mic for a nonexistent audio clip to support this) He's said, at least once, about white people: They should be in charge. And he's a Republican. You know, last November, members of my local Republican party knocked on my door to encourage me to VOTE! They're community organizers, and they're... -none- of them are about that. They want your children and your money!

These conservatives commentators know that their base is full of racists, and they will use that in consideration for their talking points, like Glenn Beck for example.
