Oh. You have to check this video out. The attempted logic is hilarious and it demonstrates something I mentioned before about the birthers.

The "logic" used is a textbook example of a formal fallacy. In the video the guy claims falsely that:

      A. Obama used his sister's Hawaii COLB to make his own forgery. (We have to take the youtube guy's word that some awesome computer dudes apparently figured it all out)

      B. Obama's sister was actually born in Indonesia, therefore anyone can get a Hawaii COLB even if they weren't born in Hawaii.

      C. Even if Obama's COLB is not a forgery, the supposed fact Obama's sister has a COLB despite being born in Indonesia makes Obama's real Hawaii COLB even more suspect.

Huh? But if Obama's Hawaiian COLB is indeed genuine (which the state of Hawaii and independent evaluators have now affirmed several times), then there is nothing to support the claim that Obama's sister ever had a Hawaiian birth certificate to begin with. Therefore there is no evidence that a foreign born person can have a COLB from Hawaii since it became a state.

I have seen several birther sites claim this logic, but non of them can point to anything that shows Soetoro having a Hawaiian COLB outside of the now apparently debunked claims Obama used her Hawaiian COLB to make his own.

I could only listen to a minute of this guys voice before i had to turn it off. I wasn't about to give up seven more minutes that I'll never get back reading this clown's delusion. How convoluted does this plot have to get in order for it to be finally put down?

I did noticed that he was speaking very slowly, and very clearly, as if he knew his audience had a learning disability.

And I'm not sure how many times he used the phrase "posted a jpeg" but it seemed to him that this proved some kind of tampering took place with the COLB. How big an idiot do you have to be to not understand that the reason jpeg's are used on the internet is that they're smaller files and download quicker?

I hope they keep this up and show more of the birthers and their claims. I don't know how someone could watch the video of the birthers at the Delaware town meeting the other day and still have a "Proud To Be An American" bumper sticker on their car.

It kept nagging me - Lous Dobbs has never shown himself to be this stoopid in the past. Is his age catching up with him? Does he need this kind of material to get viewers? Is it wishful thinking because he can't fathom the idea of a black man in the whitehouse?

Then it dawned on me - I hate to think what these people would be doing if they didn't have this citizenship thing to keep them busy. I'll bet Lou had the same thought, and decided to do something about it.

I'm with you - keep it up. Go Lou!

            He hasn't?

What about his illegal immigrants bringing leprosy to the US bit he did last year? I'd have to say, that's pretty high level of stoopid.

              I stand corrected.

Please replace "never" with "rarely" and put the emphasis on "THIS stoopid".

You listened for a whole minute? That's about thirty seconds longer than I could take.

I stopped after I heard the rumors that Obama was "possibly born in Indonesia, Canada, Kenya . . ."

WTF did he get CANADA from??!!

How big an idiot do you have to be to not understand that the reason jpeg's are used on the internet is that they're smaller files and download quicker?

That's what I'm wondering -- what the hell, did he think Obama would post the actual PAPER certificate on the net?

These people are beyond retarded . . .

That's right, because the internets are a series of tubes, and without those little cylinders like the bank uses, a paper birth certificate would get all smudged and probably frayed on the edges. Might even get torn, and possibly destroyed.

Of course, that's just what the righties want, the fargin' bastadges.

You just know this guy is one of those crazies that post doezens of cramped, handwritten letters about how the government is out to get him at the local library bulletin board.

The main difference between the Birthers and the 9/11 Conspiracists is that nobody in the Media will give the 9/11 guys the time of day.

For some reason, the Birther nuts can get all the free media exposure they want.

Another difference is that the 9/11 guys can at least present a reasonable sounding argument... the Birthers are just racist nuts who can't accept a black man as their president.

The Birthers are more fanatical and emotional over the issue than the 9/11 conspiracists. That is why they get the publicity.

Add to that the fact that the government, which the 9/11 truthers implicate, was at least in a position to conspire and did have sufficient motive. Poor Ann Dunham had neither the power nor motive to pull of the conspiracy the birthers claim.

This is getting comical to watch.

Health Care is tanking so badly and St. Barack was such an embarassment last night that MMFA is focusing on this birth certificate foolishness because their heroes on the left have been exposed as such frauds and incompetents on health care that MMFA would further embarass their friends by covering it.

Similar CNN...nobody outside the whacked-out extreme right has this birth cert. on its radar screen, but it is being used by MMFA and CNN to divert attention from the collapse of health care.

I thrashed you on another thread, so I'll summarize: MMFA is not a "news" organization, conservative misinformation only, Obama presented fact-filled information on a plan that is gaining ground with middle America and will happen, whether right-wing freaks like you like it or not. We have to drag you, kick and screaming like a spoiled child, into the light of the 21st Century

But back to birthers, I want to personally thank Lou Dobbs for continuing to hash out this issue. It provides great grist for the rest of the broadcast media to point at and continue to marginalize the rightwing. Birthers for Palin "012".

I wonder why they haven't shown us his African birth certificate.

I mean, he's suppose to have been born there, I'm sure there's some record of it, right??

Oops, sorry, I didn't mean to actually make a legit argument, my bad....

I'm not sure why this is all coming out now? This has been an issue with the nut jobs for months before the election. I read this blog devoted to hating Obama and convinced he was born in Kenya. It's hilarious to read, yet scary. They have so much hatred towards Obama, it clouds their rationality.

But yeah, Stewart is hilarious. Dobbs is a moron.
