How about that, Glenn?
I guess that's what you from a homeless, drug-addicted, alcholic that they pulled out of the gutter (literally), hosed off, handed a bible to (along with the book of mormon) and stuck in front of a microphone.
What an ignorant jackass.
You want to know why all these dirtbags think academia is so liberal? Because Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Karl Rove, COMBINED have exactly zero degrees between them. Not one. Not even one from an online diploma mill. Zilch. Nada.
And that's why ignorant ranting trumps academic research and peer review in the mind of these no-talent @$$-clowns.
Of which he completely failed at making career out of. He was a failed "scientist", so he reverted to selling hate and stupidity to the lowest common denominator in society.
Does any of that mean anything? No, not really. Only that we were able to accomplish something that these four jokers weren't. But I'll let my ideas and arguments stand for themselves. I don;t expect anyone to buy them solely because I have a degree. I only bring my academic credentials when some con who forgot everything he leanred that semseter he got a C+ in Macro Econ needs a good old fashioned schoolin'. But they don't make me smart though. [I was just born that way!] ;)
But these guys show an open disrespect for the very PROCESS of academic and scientific resaerch. Thruth be told, the majority of the conservtaive movement does, and I have to think that the influence of these four clowns (and others like them) has a lot to do with it. There is no legitimate reason that objective scientific research and rigorous peer review should have a liberal bias, OTHER THAN the fact that conservative ideas just don't pass muster. An INTELLIGENT person would therefore throw out the ideas. CONSERVATIVES, apparently, would rather throw out the process.
I guess Beck wouldn't know anything about college student loans.
Far as I know, student loans are, for, well, education. I only got my education by being able to get student loans (which I have dutifully paid back).
And ACORN again? Glenn, can you point to ONE SINGLE THING ACORN has done that is bad? Nope, can't do it.
God forbid we follow the law and conduct the census.
These guys are getting worse, all of the time.
When you listen to Beck's show, there are other guys in the room talking to him. His posse. I get a sense that they are all smarter than him, think rationally, and can be funny at times. I also don't think they believe anything Beck says and they probably think he's a moron. But they figure, "hey the pay is good!"
In regards to Beck's modern slave state idea: I guess the current system of keeping you in debt (via student loans and mortgages) to make sure you'll work hard for the rest of your life for corporations that exploit your labor is the pinnacle of freedom.
No conspiracy is too absurd for them to believe. Every time Obama does anything it is always with an evil intent. Help people with their student loans?? OMG this is modern day slavery!!!! Panic! Panic! Panic! What a bunch of loons!
The scary thing is that there are morons out there who believe this crap. I have a few in my family like that--sad to say.
And what is it about ACORN that drives the Right so crazy? I don't get it.
They get an eduation paid for by us, the taxpayers, and in return, the government gets their service for awhile.
It's not such a bad deal really. And one that if expanded, would see more people serve their country after they graduate, which, no matter WHO is in office, wouldn't be a bad thing.
Now if Mr Beck label me an elitist (or a slave), that's one thing, but I am not going to sit here and let him bad mouth the United States of America!!!
I'm old enough that I began reading in the mid 1950's, and I immediately discovered Science Fiction. That era would have been the transition between Pulp and New Wave, when some very thoughtful novels and stories were written.
One controversial novel by Robert A. Heinlein was "Starship Troopers" (if you've only seen the movie, you missed the point of the book). In it, Citizens were required to do some form of Service, be it clerical or military, to gain their Right To Vote. (BTW, one has to be familiar with all Heinlein's work to really understand how the book is satirical)
The idea behind the Service Requirement is explained in the book, was overlooked (mostly) in the movie.
The Pre-Neocons (AKA Superpatriots or Ultrapatriots as they were called at the time)were excited by the concept (though I will admit they had more guts in that they WOULD have performed some kind of service, if not military). Of course these same Preocons went ballistic over Stranger In A Strange Land by Heinlein later.
Also, keep in mind that 'working for the Government' is acceptable if it's one they agree with (Neocons = Bush/Cheney), but it's 'slavery' if they disagree (not to mention the convoluted racism in contending 'slavery' under an African-American (literally) President.
