I've never really been a fan of Matthews, but he's really stepped up to the plate here over this birth certificate nonsense.

I appreciate what Chris Matthews is trying to do, but I hope he moves on from this story. It's starting to feel like he's just feeding the beast now...

See, i disagree with that idea, it seems defeatist.

The more that we fight against these loons and expose them, the better.

Keep the pressure on CNN & Lou Dobbs ...

I understand where you're coming from. It's just that I don't like the idea of legitimizing what these birthers believe by giving them as much attention as they've been getting.

          It's a very fine line...

He is just bottome feeding. There was a time I liked Chris Matthews but; no longer. Just because he "occasionally" does the right thing, doesn't make up for all the times he parrots some partisan line.

I snuck into the Hawaii State Board of Health the other night and SAW BARACK's ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE!!!

It is indeed a phony and I can see why the Obama does not want anyone to see it. What tipped me off is that the footprint is waaaaaaaay too small. Barrack wears like a size 11.5 shoe!!! His footprint would be off the page! Anyway, I am off to collect my reward on a birther site. See ya Obamabot losers!!!

Mathews is on a mission. Destroyed G Gordon Liddy whom he called a " friend ' and now he is after Dobbs. The Supreme Court Chief Justice Roberts validated the election and swore in Obama as our 44th president. It is done, finito, its over much like Bush's 200 election was over when he was sworn in. End of discussion.......maybe except for ratings.

I will be the first to admit that I am almost CERTAIN that Obama is a U.S. citizen and was born in Hawaii. I highly doubt Obama would have gotten this far if he was somehow misrepresenting the location as to his birth.

My question: Why doesn't Obama simply get somebody to find his original birth-certificate, not the document of "Live Birth", and put this matter to rest forever. That is what I don't understand.

Again, I believe Obama. I just don't know why he don't show the actual "Birth Certificate".

"Again, I believe Obama. I just don't know why he don't show the actual "Birth Certificate"."

        Perhaps this is why:

In 2001 - the state of Hawaii Health Department went paperless.*Paper documents were discarded*The official record of Obama's birth is now an official ELECTRONIC record Janice Okubo, spokeswoman for the Health Department told the Honolulu Star Bulletin, "At that time, all information for births from 1908 (on) was put into electronic files for consistent reporting," she said.

Also, "Certificate of Live Birth" is the legal name used for birth certificates in Hawaii. http://snarkybytes.com/?p=521

Even if he had the original, it would still be called a "Certificate of Live Birth" - (the birthers conveniently forget to mention that - further proof that they are really just looking to derail this administration).

the document that we have seen is the very document that is required to get a US Passport - they also forget to mention that Obama has one that he has used for years.

All this is about people who don't want Obama in the white house.

I never cared for Bush, I thought he didn't have the skills we needed as president. (Gee, look how smart I was) But; once he was in office, I gave him the benefit of doubt.

Now, Obama is president. He may not have all the skills that I want (looks better than Bush!) but; again, he gets the benefit of doubt.

All these birthers are either racist or are looking for excuses to get Obama out of office, because their guy lost.
      Give it up!
He is American, his mom was American, which makes him an American.
All the evidence shows he was born in Hawaii, whether you like it or not.
There are not any birthers who have any evidence that he wasn't born in Hawaii. Everything that has been put forth is all HEARSAY. "My neighbor told me, i got an email, etc, etc"
If we go by the "long form/short form" theory, then I am not a citizen, because South Carolina not only doesn't issues long form birth certificates anymore, they don't even emboss them!

Please forgive me my rant. I know it won't do any good but; I just had to vent!!!!!

Is Matthews criticizing Dobbs because hurting the opposition (CNN) is good for MSNBC? Would Matthews criticize Scarborough for saying outrageous things?

When Scarborough says something as outrageous as Lou Dobb's birther fetish, we'll see.

The birther nonsense is the most ridiculous political accusation I've heard in my lifetime. And the fact that Lou is on a quest makes him look bizarre and really out of the main stream.

Matthews is the consummate DC insider and has been in DC since working for Daniel Patrick Moynihan. Buchana is also a DC insider and has been for 40 years. Sometimes opposite sides but they're both on the cocktail party circuit and so Chris isn't about to call out the crazy old rac.. well whatever he is.

I watch Lou Dobbs regularly being an independent. He is no Limbaugh, Hannity or other right wing nut case. For that matter, he is no left wing nut case either. Mr. Dobbs is not a Republican or Democrat. He mirrors the politics of most Americans. He also respects the education and intelligence of the voter and expects a great deal from elected officials on both sides of the isle.

That said, I heard both of his CNN broadcasts during which he discussed the President's birth certificate issue. Clearly, his primary message was that President Obama is a US citizen. He wondered why the President didn't put the issue to rest. There is and was no reason for other commentators to express outrage at Mr. Dobbs' statements. May cooler heads prevail. Most independents, and we are the majority of voters, are sick of shrill voices on both sides of the isle.
