      Reckless?
Reckless is starting a war based on a lie.
Reckless is outing a CIA operative.
      Reckless is condoning torture.
Reckless is thinking that telling teens not to have sex will actually work.
Reckless is abrogating your role as president by handing the reins over to a demented vice-president.
Reckless? Please. The Bush administration redefined what it means to be reckless.

Obama said the cop acted stupidly. That's not reckless. The cop did act stupidly when he arrested Gates. The smart thing to do would have been to walk away. He didn't.

Obama didn't call the cop stupid, he called the arrest stupid.

That is only half of the Story...... Prof Gates should not have been as hostile as he was. The President made a mistake in wading in to this one. The Right Wing is seeking anything that they can find to derail a Progressive Agenda and we must be smarter. This issue with Prof Gates could have been resolved much easier but now it is a Smoke Screen.

I understand that the GOP base is constantly moving toward the old, white, teabagging bedwetter demographic, but if Gates is effective as the current version of Willie Horton, they're really skewing harder than I imagined.

"...but if Gates is effective as the current version of Willie Horton, they're really skewing harder than I imagined." I hear you Col. and if Their able it won't be without the help of our so-called "liberal" press and pundocracy that like to treat things as political footballs reason and facts be damned. Good example is Chris Matthews show where he quoted Rush Limbaughs comments about Baracks 1st statement about the Gates arrest calling Barack an angry young man, then Matthews asked something to the effect how did Barack mess up and allow his comments to be taken like Rush interpreted them or something to that effect. I was like man, we all know who Rush is appealing to and what he's trying to do with the issue why would you validate that view and reject a reasoned discussion with the facts educating and informing people at the same time? Wouldn't that kind of discussion help dispel this whole controversy and create a better understanding of the issues and relations between us? I hope their not effective, but I don't underestimate ignorance. Like you said it's hard work that some seem committed too,and with pride!

If 47 is young (implying wet-behind-the-ears) I'd really hate to see a middle-aged president, much less on a old one.

By golly, the Heritage Foundation just canceled all vacations for the duration of the controversy, and Karl Rove's jelly-like loins a-quivered.

I think Rev. Gates is going to be in thousands of GOP commercials...

It was a very effective strategy last time. Instead of getting about 27 electoral votes, Grampy got 159.
