Wow. That's a lot to glean from what little we know about the guy. How much research did Rush actually do to come to this conclusion? My guess is none.

If Rush had read a newspaper he might have learned that Prof. Gates is actually married to a white woman, besides having white blood himself. Everyone who knows him says he is known for putting people of all races at ease, said one article, and is by no means a militant black activist, let alone a racist. Word.

I thought racism was over, Rush. That's certainly what you say every time a white person is accused of it. Oh, wait, those accusations are usually backed by evidence. That must be it.

It does seem that the right is trying to turn things around so that only minorities can be accused of racism.

According to rush, white racism is over. Only minorities are still capable of racism. White people are saintly mini gods on race.

It's not just Rush. I've heard a couple of radio hosts mention similar things. Ingraham is the most recent to jump on the "new racism" bandwagon. Appearantly the police are not treating "hate crimes" against whites the same. She referenced an incident in Austin TX where a brick with racially charged language was thrown through the window of a white person's house. Her argument is a repeat of many of their arguments. "If the victims were black then there would be a public outcry and the police would respond accordingly." But since the person victim is white she feels as if the police are responding inappropriately by not labeling it a hate crime. The just of all of these arguments is to have the listener believe that somehow the tables have turned and now white people are a discriminated minority. So we are to believe that there is a racial attack on the values of average middle class whites. This from people with multi million dollar contracts who promote their radio and TV shows and books.

Oaky, Rush to Judgement, where are these bits of evidence? Put up or shut up, until you do, it just comes off as more of your standard angry, victimized, white bully routine! I have stated that I think Professor Gates' reaction had more to do with illness and jet lag than being an angry racist, or the victim of racism. I have been jet-lagged enough after a trip to Asia to burst into tears and yell in public, luckily, no arrests were made.

Personally I'd like to know how the 9/11 tapes and dispatch calls will clear up anything. I look forward to hearing them, but they're still pretty much irrelevant.

Neither will confirm what Gates said/did or what Crowley said/did within the professor's home and on his front porch. And that's all that matters here.

For the record, while each man's description of the events that took place are diametrically opposed, and couldn't paint a more different picture, I believe that they essentially both true - from each of their own POV's. I'm sure each one felt that he acted reasonably, and the other irrationally. And from their own POV, that's probably true enough.

But why do I get the feeling that a truly objective third party would be watching this thinking, "Each guy is acting within his own rights... and neiether is being truly over the top... but I can see where this is going and it's is NOT going to end well..."?

I agree until your last paragraph. The cop is the professional. HE HAS THE POWER, and he arrogantly exercised that power. All Gates had was his WORDS.

That's exactly right. If Gates was out of line, then Crowley should diffuse the situation by providing his badge number and leaving. Sticking around to argue and entrap is not within his rights.

Huh. I didn't know September 11th tapes had anything to do with the Gates case.

I wonder how many of these negative comments are from the same "race" as Limbaugh? It's not too hard to stereotype people into certain categories. The media does a pretty good job of covering stories that help mold the peoples minds of our nation that prejudge ethnic groups. There will always be a cry of racism in this country whether it is about race, gender, religion, intelligence, economic status, etc. Get over it! Personally, I want to know if this much publicity would have happened if it was not someone closely connected with our president (lowercased on purpose) of the same race?
