Thing is, the POTUS has the biggest bully pulpit from which to speak, and if he wants to "shoot his mouth off" then I guess nobody is really going to stop him are they? Probably not.

Only in wingnut world can the President not say what's on his mind.

We just finished 8 years of a president who had nothing on his mind. It's going to take a period of adjustment to accomodate a president who thinks.

Oh... it'll take a bit longer than that:

"Senator, you have the vote of every thinking person!"
"That's not enough, madam, we need a majority!"
            ~Adlai Stevenson

            ...in 1952!

The story that 'resembles' Idiocracy (the movie, that is) was published in 1951 (pre-Ike). The Marching Morons by C.M. Kornbluth.
I have to admit, I wondered if it was (unconciously) the inspiration for the movie.

What in the H-E double hockey sticks is she talking about?

First, he wasn't black enough, now he's too black? Can you guys make up your mind, and what the heck is she doing on the Today show?

Malkin is a joke. Obama has not taken anything resembling racial opportunity at all. As a matter of fact, it seems like the only person who doesn't want to talk about race is, yes, Obama. Everyone else against him, or with him, seems to keep batting this around, meanwhile, the President is just doing his job.

But the more they seek to de-legitimize him, and the more outrageous and even dangerous the claims they throw against the wall, the more difficult it becomes for him to do his job, and the more powerful the Blue Moles become.

No, the great and open secret is that they can -never- make up their mind. The reason is simple: Then they would have to stick to just one lie. It'd be like sticking to the truth all over again. Far far too confining. Better to be able to use whatever lie comes to hand.

I could care less about what comes out of Malkin's mouth, because it is connected to an empty head. Matt Lauer calling the President's choice of the word 'stupid' a mistake, however, is troubling. He, at least, should know better.

Laura Bush's accident was just that, an accident. It occurred when she was 17 years old. She didn't get special dispensation, there simply was nothing to charge her for other than running a stop sign and failing to yield right of way . . . she wasn't drunk, she didn't deliberately kill this young man, she simply ran a stop sign and an accident occurred. Sadly, this happens every day . . . and is rarely a criminal offense other than being cited for running a stop sign.

I can't stand GWB and Laura gives me a pain in the backside, but there's no story in her car accident as a 17 year old girl. There's more than enough current, REAL things to attack GWB about.

I know that, but I was putting that out there as something if Michelle Obama ran through a stop sign, and killed someone in an accident, how it would be portrayed by these jokers.

That being said, running a stop sign and killing someone should be, and is a bigger crime, normally a felony. Accident or not. It's a moving violation, first, reckless endangerment second, and possibly manslaughter. Someone's recklessness killed another human being, accident, or not, and the law should apply.

I don't know what the law was when Laura was 17, but there could have been plenty to charge her for. Just because she didn't mean to do it, doesn't mean it's not criminal.

Malicious Malkontent is what I have called her since I first heard about her. She is just mean and nasty. She is her parents' anchor baby, but refuses to see herself as either Asian or an anchor baby, but she sure dislikes other people's anchor babies. Here is more of her standard hypocrisy-she wants to point out corruption and cronyism, but has nothing to say about the previous administration! She is the epitome of a partisan hack. Poor Matt looks miserable at having to let her spout off and shill.

Or that she doesn't. Must remain neutral, you know.

That's like an old feud Bob Hope had with a hotel. He made a joke on stage, saying, "My hotel room was so small, the mice were stoop-shouldered." The hotel (which no one would have known was the hotel in question unless they created a stink) made a big deal about it, writing letters to newspapers all over, complaining. A few days later, on his radio show, Hope said, "Last week I said the mice in my hotel room were stoop shouldered. I was mistaken, they weren't."

She is right about the Gates thing only being a local law enforcement issue, as I said on another thread, the guy is lucky he wasn't simply tasered (or beaten into submission) and hauled away. Thats what happens every day in so many other jurisdictions, and it hardly gets the attention that this incident has received.

If Gates would have acted the least bit differently, had it been a black cop, then the racist attitude is his own baby to rock.

Our modern police forces aren't trained to put up with belligerance or even wait around trying to investigate. They are charged with keeping the Peace, and their job is to bag & tag, and let the judicial system sort it out, not channel the spirit of Andy Griffith. And no, they aren't actually suppossed to behave differently from one neighborhood to another, depending on which side of the tracks they find themselves on. To do so would display a very much classist attitude, and evince a very unequal 'justice'.

Do I think the system is right? No. Thats how it is though. Nothing about the incident in question rises to the level of a National debate/scandal, when so many far more egregious violations are business-as-usual all across this country.

There really should be some type of study on conservative brain waves/patterns. When they look at President Obama what exactly do they see? Do they see a black man in a suit and tie or do they see him standing there in a dashiki and big ole afro? I mean really now- when he made his comments last week regarding the Gates were they hearing Huey Newton with NWA in the background rapping "F the Police"... what in the world goes on in their pea brains. Do they they actually believe the nonsense that comes out of their mouths?

The Conservatives and Republicans out here in the streets have been so dumded down that there is no telling brain waves exist until they are told what to do each day. Talking points are the heroin of the Right without the HORSE, they cannot go anywhere.
There are no original thoughts by this clan. They are reactive to what others do or say. I happen to be in a Fantasy Baseball League with 7 conservatives/republicans and two so-called Libertarians...I do not have to read thier posts any more to respond. Just need to read MMFA and go to the Limblog. It is amazing, the plagarizing that takes place.

There's no mistaking that fear is a big part of conservatism. They are afraid of change. They are afraid of the unknown. They don't ponder deep or abstract thoughts because they're afraid of leaving the familiar. They need someone to confirm their fears so that they don't feel alone or out of place. They are prime candidates to let the limpaughs and hannitys do their "thinking" for them. They allow fear to control their lives, and you see them try to use it as an effective tool to control the lives of others to insure that they won't have to face the unknown, or change, or alternative concepts.

They are on a pace to break one of the most difficult records in the four major sports to achieve...most consecutive years under .500. Michelle Malkin, and her right wing nut brethrens, just keep on saying anything bad about the president until something stick. They do not care if their rhetoric is a straight out lie. They are more worried about destroying his reputation and draining his presidential powers than the truth. I give her credit for this; she raised the stakes on Beck, she saw his racist and raised it to a racial opportunist.

But this is a real problem, the tendency the Today Show has to invite people like Malkin on to give their opinion. They routinely have folks like her, or Coulter, or Laura Ingraham. Why do they think this is what people want to watch?

As I watched the Today show this morning, I was not prepared for what I was about to see. It was so horrific and upsetting that I wish the Today show had warned me so I could have changed the channel on my TV. It wasn’t a story about a gruesome murder. It wasn’t about child or animal abuse. And it had nothing to do with Michael Jackson or Jon and Kate plus 8. What I saw for the first time was a woman by the name of Michelle Malkin. When she began talking to Matt Lauer about her new book, I wasn’t able to walk away; I think I went into shock. When the interview was over, I thought to myself, who is this woman? So I did what everyone does when they need an answer to a question, I googled her. I watched about three of her YouTube videos and for about 15 minutes listened to more of what she had to say. After returning from my kitchen, where I needed to down half a bottle of Pepto Bismol, I noticed the bottom of the page listed other references that included Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and Glenn Beck. I did find one thing that I thought was comical or ironic when looking up this woman and I found it on her website and it says “A reminder: Anyone who fails to comply with my terms of use may lose his or her posting privilege.” Need I say more!

I tried posting on her site to let her know my outrage at her views of the Japanese-American internment (my family was interned at Poston and Tule Lake)

I wrote a long and what I thought eloquent rant about her racism, her embarrassing rejection of the Asian culture ("I'm not Asian, I'm American), and the self-loathing that transformed her from a Filipino-American music student at Oberlin college to feminist hating right wing neocon... we all know you just adopted your husband's point of view.

Anyhow, needless to say that posting never made it to the site.

What is Michelle Malkin doing on the Today show?

Michelle is a fringe "columnist" who is looking to increase book sales to her extremist right wing following. She has no business being on mainstream media, she looks like a nut job on Fox.

Michelle Malkin is a small minded person who projects her self-hatred on minorities and the Asian community.

She supported racial profiling and rounding up Arab-Americans after 9/11.
She supported the Japanese Internment in 1942.
There is nothing that President Obama could do that she would support because she is a professional attack dog who is supported by the RNC.

She makes me so angry and I'm outraged that the Today show would give her any credibility by having her on the show.

Hilarious.......Malkin gets trotted out only because she is part of a minority group and is supposedly objective.

Threw her own people under the bus to defend internment camps

By the time the Republican Party gets finished they will be able to fit all of their minority members in a school bus. Keep talking, Michelle...

And why wouldn't they have her on? Maybe because her opionions don't match yours? This is what, NBC? I wouldn't worry too much about her.....NBC is the heart of the MSM that put Barry in office to begin with. They are his biggest cheerleaders and nothing they show is going to change that.
There seems to many of you here intimidated by this woman. Why is that? The truth is painful, but you need to hear it.

I dare to speculate on this. Something I was just mulling over.

I believe Malkin to be a racial opportunist. Let me explain.

In her current vocation (right wing attack crazy person), I hazard to guess that she would not be as popular as she is now, if she were a white woman. They already had Ann Coulter, they didn't need another white woman to write about crazy things.

Here comes Malkin. Asian, Filipino, and talking a bunch of crazy stuff. If she were white, we'd never know who she was.
