Live from Glass House Studios, it's Chris Wallace and the Stonethrowers performing their hit, "Pot, Meet Kettle"...

That is good. I can imagine the announcers voice.

In my head, I heard Don Pardo saying it.

Is there anybody else here that is beginning to feel like a Trekkie? I mean, one of those people who doesn't just enjoy the tv shows and the movies, but actually spends the time they're not in the theater or in front of the tv as living Star Trek characters, on the fantasy that they actually exist outside of the studio?

Have I been sucked into the reality of the soap-opera housewife who feels like she's spent a week unconscious in the hospital if she misses a day of her "story"?

Because, I'm experimenting with taking a view of this whole "news" thing from the perspective of someone who doesn't pay any attention to it, someone with an air of being above it all. Someone who doesn't know the names hannity, O'Reilly, beck, couldn't tell you the difference between Chris Matthews and Chris Wallace, wouldn't recognize limpaugh if he rolled up in front of me with a Dominican boy under each arm... And I have to say, it's starting to seem like a closed society in a different universe, where reality changes depending on the words that come out of the mouth of the guy who happens to be speaking from the studio with the live cameras at the time. Where Lou Dobbs can say "the sky is green" and you can watch the sky change color as he speaks.

I just wonder if those of us who hope that we can drag these folks kicking and screaming into the real world haven't learned Klingon in preparation for our next chance meeting with a real one on the street.

Or maybe I should just be a warning to everyone to stay away from the brown acid. Tangerine trees and marmalade skies...

Mr. Dobbs has a strike. He has hooked everyone and including fellow media types. He knows it. If everyone continues to listen to his chicken-little-crying-wolf, market share, and ad revenue are sure to follow. Cable media is desperate to be noticed.

For what it's worth, Dobbs viewership has deteriorated significantly according to a report I saw about an hour ago on huffingtonpost.

A minor correction for MMFA writers. The title of this piece gave me the impression that Wallace called Dobbs a "grassy knoll nut" but it was Imus who said that.

True enough, he did just agree with Imus, when Imus made the observation.

        News Flash for Chris Wallace!!:
"What if there are people who start to believe the world is flat, are we going to report that story and vent on that?"

Actually there are people who STILL think the earth is flat. Now all they need to do is tie their argument into Obama, and they will get all the free press they want. (e.g. Obama orders government to burn all data showing that the earh is actually flat!)

chris wallace is talking about people in the news media doing anything for ratings... yet he doesnt look at the crazy nut from his own network. beck is a prime example... same with oreilly, but we've known that for years now. and beck's emergence as a nutty lunatic is the big ticket for fox right now. its one of those things that will die down eventually, though. nobody can take something like that long enough before they realize how stupid it is.
