Have I been sucked into the reality of the soap-opera housewife who feels like she's spent a week unconscious in the hospital if she misses a day of her "story"?
Because, I'm experimenting with taking a view of this whole "news" thing from the perspective of someone who doesn't pay any attention to it, someone with an air of being above it all. Someone who doesn't know the names hannity, O'Reilly, beck, couldn't tell you the difference between Chris Matthews and Chris Wallace, wouldn't recognize limpaugh if he rolled up in front of me with a Dominican boy under each arm... And I have to say, it's starting to seem like a closed society in a different universe, where reality changes depending on the words that come out of the mouth of the guy who happens to be speaking from the studio with the live cameras at the time. Where Lou Dobbs can say "the sky is green" and you can watch the sky change color as he speaks.
I just wonder if those of us who hope that we can drag these folks kicking and screaming into the real world haven't learned Klingon in preparation for our next chance meeting with a real one on the street.
Or maybe I should just be a warning to everyone to stay away from the brown acid. Tangerine trees and marmalade skies...
News Flash for Chris Wallace!!:
"What if there are people who start to believe the world is flat, are we going to report that story and vent on that?"
Actually there are people who STILL think the earth is flat. Now all they need to do is tie their argument into Obama, and they will get all the free press they want. (e.g. Obama orders government to burn all data showing that the earh is actually flat!)
