Right-wing racism isn't "on the rise", much like water's wetness isn't "on the rise". It just IS.

Donny looks like he's about to parachute out of an airplane.

Ever notice that AS SOON AS someone new chimes in on a topic, Rush jumps in with both feet? Joan Walsh mentions something on Wednesday, and Limbaugh is all "magic honky" on her. Rather than attempting to dispel with fact the premise that there is an undercurrent of racism beneath everything coming out of the right these days, he finds it more appropriate to attack the messenger.

Two steps forward, one step back? For every two steps forward the public takes, 'morons' like Limbaugh and 'supermorons' like Beck PUSH us back a step.

Right wing racism is not on the rise as far as I can tell. It's simply being exposed and brought to light because the right wing loons are crawling out of the woodwork to express their racist views and engage in race baiting. They feel bold...proud of their long-held racist views that they've been forced to keep quiet about until now. They're applauding Rush and Glenn for removing the restrictions against voicing racist views. They can't stand the sight of black people. They wish America didn't have any black people. They wish all blacks would have been shipped back to Africa a long time ago. They believe blacks have screwed up the American way of life. They've always felt this way...only now they can be more out in the open about it.

The fact that that democrat has tan skin and a funny name just adds insult to injury . . .

See post below...but yeah, one of the reasons i supported obama was that he would really drag out the cheap political racism that bubbles unspoken in this country. I also think Obama expects this and his team knows how to deal with. This is an important phase for this country to learn, be honest with who it is, and realize its shortcomings. I welcome the clarity of right wing loons finally willing to show the world just how dumb and ignorant they are.

      To quote Bill Maher...

All Republicans certainly are not racists...
But, if you are a racist... you're most likely a Republican

I wonder if the Great Gasbag is upset because Donny only called him a moron and called Becky a super moron?

Coming up next: MSNBC investigates whether bears defecate in wooded areas.

Seriously, I don't think it's on the rise so much as the election of Obama has brought a lot of barely-suppressed attitudes out of the woodwork. But I honestly did not think it would be this bad.

That really is the alarming part of all of this. When I hoped that Obama's election as President would start a dialogue about race this is not exactly what I had in mind. Some of us here have half-jokingly opined that it's only a matter of time before some of these angry right wing talkers use the N-word. I think we're getting closer and closer to that reality.

Actually, I thought the opposite would happen - that Obama would get elected and it would reveal how messed up some of this country is, we can then deal with it definitively and move on. Clarity is welcome.

If someone performs a violent act against the first family (god forbid!), I would not be surprised if they decided to perform that violence after listening to people like Beck, limbaugh, Hannity, and Levin. I mean at least give Obama a chance... its been 6 months!! I cant imagine what they will be saying by the end of this year. This is truly terrible.

only racists could listen to the limbaugh clip shown and come away thinking they had heard what walsh calls "cro-magnon, divisive, really retro garbage"... therefore, she is a racist...

I worry about the dominant theme being mainstreamed in this "extremist" rhetoric, revved up by Sotomayor's nomination and advanced by more than one Republican Senator: the "reverse racism" accusations. This fraud implies these bigots in the spotlight are merely "defending" against attacks on "white people." The tactic is based on the same face the KKK and other White Supremacist organizations present to the public -- ("We're not about the hate, but doggone it, somebody has to stand up for poor, maligned whitey.") As long as we Americans trivialize "racism" as merely a synonym for tribalism or prejudice, this hate speech will become increasingly tolerated in livingrooms, classrooms, and office lounges across the country. Who in the media reports on the racial inequities prevalent in the country? Does America really need to be reminded why President Obama's election is historic?

On the plus side, teabagging doctors and real boston racist cops get called out and face consequences for the kind of ugliness Rush gets away with daily, so there's reason for hope.

The latest book written (cough) by Glenn Beck is #2 on amazon's non-fiction list. Michelle Malkin's book is #1. The Bush/Cheney/Rove cabal proved you can win elections and shape public opinion by pushing the buttons of fear and ignorance. It's fun and easy to make fun of these nutjobs, but we should not underestimate their influence. I have otherwise intelligent friends who think Beck/Rush/Coulter/O'Reilly/Hannity/Etc are doing God's work.
