Bill Maher was right, not all sectors of society should make profits. The News should be one of them, they should report the facts without inserting their silly opinions in all the time. I feel like I have to watch several different channels and newspapers to get the facts of the story.

Actually, back when there were people like Walter Cronkite, Huntley and Brinkley, Edward R. Murrow, and Lowell Thomas the News Department DIDN'T and WASN'T SUPPOSED TO make a profit. News was a loss-leader, it spent more than it made, with the Entertainment section of the network covering the losses from their profits. Then, the News and Entertainment were merged and 'news' was supposed to make as much as Entertainment.
Of course, there's also the exchange in the Max Headroom series:
Edison Carter: since when was News supposed to be Entertainment?
Murray (his editor): since it was created?

I loved the little hat! And I am very pleased that they noticed that such garbage would have resulted in the firing of the idiot in times past. I like the idea of the boycott, it won't change things much in my house, since we were already pretty much boycotting Ol'Becky since he came on, but I will consider letting the sponsors know how I feel, since Fox doesn't care. He was ragging on Walmart yesterday because they provide health care for their employees. I guess he thinks that caring about your employees is a bad thing. He seems to believe that people should be free to go about their lives doing whatever they want, regardless of the needs of others. Charity and concern should be a choice, but if you are Walmart and make it, well, then you sold out. Glenn needs to be held accountable for so many of his views, not just the racism.

If he did, Glenn Beck wasn't the only conservative to throw a hissy fit over the Dixie Chicks.

Why exactly did Glenn Beck attack the Dixie Chicks?

Because they dared to criticize herr dubyah and his facade of a war overseas during a time of "war".

cont. I believe the Constitution trumps the FOX poobah dude for free speech comes with responsibility. I am afraid if this pendulum keeps arcing over that end, it will swing back with a vengeance and the beck's are going to end up exiled somewhere more to their liking.

The First Ammendment gives every citizen free speech against the government... it doesn't protect Beck from getting fired by Fox News (not that will happen, unless this boycott works)
