Let's cut to the chase; the right wing opposes living-will/DNR orders because stopping heroic measures means fewer billable services to the patient. The Republic Party slogan on this issue should simply read:

Of course Republicans have distorted the living will provision, along with everything else about health care reform...it's what they do. It's what defines them. I wonder how many of the Republicans in congress have living wills? I'd bet it's a lot more than most people think.

When they deal with such an issue it's prudent planning. When it's suggested that most Americans should consider living wills, they call it... murder.
