Where did it go?
Seriously where did it go? Cause last time I checked I was sitting in it. And last time I checked we had a democratic election that the Deomcratic party happened to win, due to electoral majority agreeing with them. That election lead to a new preident being sworn in. Kind like 8 years ago when we had a deocratic election that Republican party happened to win, as they had an electoral majority of people agree with them or 16 years ago, or 20 years ago or pretty much anytime we've had a new preisdent.
And Last time I checked our president was carrying out his duty to sign legislation that he, repersenting the voters who elected him, believes will help this country, rejecting those laws that will not, and endorsing policies that he thinks will help the country. This is the same thing that the 43 men who proceeded him have done.
Last I checked we had a democraticly elected House and Senate, elected in an election that happened to favor the Democart party as most people seem to agree with their views. And last I checked the House and Senate are supposed to introduce and debate laws that they believe will be benifitial to our country, and that is what they are doing.
Do you agree with the laws they want put in place? I'm gonna guess probibly not. Do you agree with the laws this president has passed? Again I'm guessing not. But congress and the president are there to act on behalf of the majority that elected them reguardless of which party currently happens to hold the majority opinon of the voters
Therefore as near as I can tell America hasnt gone anywhere, and the American process of governement seems to be functioning normally reguardless of the fact that you or I or neither or both may not agree with the decisions made.
I am forced to conclude then that what you mean when you say "I want the US back" is that "I am a sore loser and cant possibly understand how people might disagree with my views and can not accept the fact that America can exist and fuction for any period of time if it doesnt follow my views despite the fact that it did manage to exist, survive and continue the last time we had a president and congress I did not agree with (be that 8, 16, 20, 28 or however many years ago it was) and evenually people I approved of where again put back in power."
Or in other words what I'm trying to say is GROW UP! you lost an election, it happens. You have or will lose more and win more at some point durring your lifetime.
And Last time I checked our president was carrying out his duty to sign legislation that he, repersenting the voters who elected him, believes will help this country, rejecting those laws that will not, and endorsing policies that he thinks will help the country. This is the same thing that the 43 men who proceeded him have done.
Where in the Constitution is the President authorized to fire the head of General Motors, (or any other Corporation)? Or, forget the Constitution, where in history has the President ever sanctioned the taking over of private industry. When has another President ever endorsed a 'Single-Payer Health Care System'? I'm sorry but, Our Country is being sucked away from us, little by little. Great leaders like JFK and his 'Ask not what your Country can do for you...' speech and, Ronald Reagan saying the scariest words you will ever hear are , "Hi. I'm from the Government and I'm here to help.", would be rolling over in their graves, right now.
We have a President who is trying to create a population that is solely dependent on the Government and it's not sustainable. We are told to tighten our belts and sacrifice, while he spends and spends. He refers to the White House as 'his' house. Never have I heard a President do that. The White House is the 'people's' house. There is a lot of arrogance running unchecked.
A Government that encourages it's Citizens to spy on and report on each other, regarding 'fishy' comments or actions is a Government out of control. The more people don't pay attention and get their facts, (without Partisan bias), the more liberty we will lose. Do your homework and get educated without Fox New or CNN. Read the email, letters and books of Obama. Take him at his word. If you're still not moved to concern, that's fine. But, don't discredit other who are because there is merit to their arguments. Our Country is no longer the Country it was even 5 years ago. It sure as hell isn't the Country my Grandfather came home to after World War II. There is a slow fade going on and Bush is not exempt from responsibility. No matter who started it, It is imperative that our generation stop it. 'We' are America.
Also Might I suggest looking at Teddy Roosevelt as well? Seeing as how he was famous for being the Trustbuster, you know forcing any company that got too big to fail to be broken into smaller parts to encourage competition (a policy continued by his sucessor President Taft)
And of course you mentined Single Payer Healthcare, if your intrested in that then you might want to ask somebody about President Kennedy, who you mentioned as an example of a great president, and his social agenda. (the majority of which was passed by his sucessor President Johnson)
Included in the Kennedy and Johnson agenda was Medicare and Medicaid, both of which are limted Single Payer Heathcare. Also endorsing Medicare (and its first offical recipant) was President Harry Turman (who by the way was the president who mandated that we have health care in this country)
So yea about that history of not interfering in the private sector and subjecting it to government control, I have 5 former presidents from both parties who'd like a word with you. (Lincoln (R), T Roosevelt (R) Taft (R) Wilson (D) FDR (D)) And for not wanting single payer healthcare I have 3 other presidents who'd like to talk to you as well (Truman (D) Kennedy (D) and LBJ (D))
But I guess if your willing to overlook those 8 presidents and the total of 53 years that the 8 of them were president, then yes you are correct we have never had a president do what Obama is doing.
And I didnt feel like adressing this in the above part because I dont think we are being asked to spy om our fellow citizens, but if we count that we can again mention Lincoln (wanted people to find confederates hidden in the union) FDR (looking for Japanesse Spies, put people in camps to try to find the spies)... Oh and dont even get me started on "McCarthyism" (You remeber that right the whole House Un-American Activities Committee, (approved by the President) who expected you to rat out your neighbor so that they could find communists, it existed from 1938 to 1975 (essentally from the Roosevelt to Nixon administration). (and I wont even mention domestic wire tapping)
So even if your correct and Obama does want us to spy on other americans even that wouldnt be unpresidented.
So to sum it up
You say:
A President has never tried to control the private sector: WRONG!
A Preisdent has never pushed Single Payer heathcare:
WRONG!
A Preisdent have never asked Americans to spy on other Americans:
WRONG!
Have a nice day :)
I'm Rush would discipline this employee had he known, right?
I propose everyone sending the pdf file of the HR3200 to the flag@whitehouse.gov email address. It is by far the fishiest, smelliest, foulest thing I've seen in 50 decades.
Here's where to download the file...
http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=111_cong_bills&docid=f:h3200ih.pdf
Bring the server down people!! Send to every person you know and ask them to do the same. Use of gmail or yahoo mail recommended. Send several times a day. They want fishy spam?? Well, hey! Let's send them some.. or a LOT :)
