Remember way back in the good ol' days where pundits and politicians could lie with impunity?

      Oh wait.

Well, tell us what Charles is lying about. We heard audio of Obama suggesting "taking a pain pill instead of having that operation". Now Obama is a physician! It seems as though any time someone criticizes Tutenbama, his apologists ooze outa the woodwork to cover for him without question.

It seems that each time Obama dares speak a word and remind the right that he is president and they are all but irrelevant, the right screams socialism, fascism, communism or totalitarianism.
The right oozes lies and fear daily in the employ of their corporate masters and with the vain hope that Americans have forgotten the last eight years.

Obama was actually suggesting that in some cases doctors might make the decision that an operation would be less effective than taking a pain pill, puupienrainbows.

Out of curiosity, where did you get your medical degree?

The important question is where did Tutenbama get his medical degree? I'm not the president, thank god. (thank God for the American people!)

As I pointed out, and will point out again, President Obama was deferring to the judgment of doctors in the quote you mentioned. The full quote, of course, not the cropped quote that FOX insisted on playing to death.

President Obama got his Juris Doctor from Harvard, which is a degree in law, not medicine, though he is entitled to be called Dr. Obama in private should he so choose.

Invoking the work of George Orwell in this case is pure fearmongering, short and simple, and it implies all kinds of images of government oppression that just have no clear basis in reality.

Most people want some kind of health care reform, and a good number of those who don't want this have been misled about what this bill contains. They've been told all kinds of horrible things that will happen to them whose only connection to reality is that "someone told them so." Of course, saying end of life counseling, health care rationing and what is effectively euthanasia for newborns and the elderly have no part in this is immediately met with fearful, paranoid denial, and for no good reason.

By continuing the "government oppression" theme, Krauthammer is perpetuating every lie that has been misleading the people about health care reform.

Um, why should we expect "Orwellian language" from Chavez? Did Chavez popularize the terms "Homeland Security," or "Rendition?" Does he praise himself for keeping his people save from terrorist attacks since the LAST terrorist attack? Does he say that anyone who does not support everything he does is Unpatriotic and wants his country to be attacked again? Does he say that only he can keep his country safe from terrorism ("surely, you don't want JONES back?") What "Orwellian Language" is Chavez using?

What is wrong with the administration asking for people to send them information regarding health care that seems to stupid to be true? The administration wants to counter the misinformation with facts. They are not looking to swoop in and beat the hell out Betsy McGaughey, they just want to rebut her before the misinformation goes viral. What the right really hates about this is that it is good politics. Are you telling me the Bush administration didn't ask for people to be "vigilant" and on the lookout for suspicous activity? Hell, the FBI was arresting artists and infiltrating anti war groups. This is about combatting misinformation, not silencing people.

Guys like Krauthammer are furious that the Democrats are not acting like Democrats- they are actually fighting back. I admit, it's rather disorienting and I'm not quite sure how to take it myself.

Eventually, I'm sure, the leaders of my party will fold, concede the major points on health care reform to the minority Republicans, and everything will be back to normal.

What will happen is they will get a bill signed that will still have the right wingers screaming about socialized medicine and the people on the left bitching there is no public option. F- bipartisanship if it means throwing your principles out the window in order to placate a permanent minority party (which the Republican party now is).

'Misinformation' prevails only when the Tutenbama administration fails to present their information properly or, as in this case, lies to the American people.

Fails to present their information properly?
Hmmm. What's properly? Like Bush administration making its case for war before the UN?

          Lies to the American people?
Again, hmmm. Lies? Do you really think that's a path you want to go down?

Unless he's writing legislation in the columbian dialect of spanish, how could I possibly expect it sound sound "like Chavez"?

But who am I to say? I mean no one is an expert on the "orwellina language" (aka doublespeak) like a conservative is.

It sounds like the straw man labeled "Hugo Chavez" that the right wing built some time back and refers to whenever they want to criticize anything Obama and the Democrats attempt to accomplish.

If there's one thing the GOP hates, it's getting called out on their BS and said BS being exposed to light. MMFA has proven that time and time again. No wonder they're afraid.

Last night I had the caught a snippet of the O'Reilly factor and was shocked when one of his viewers sent him an email he read aloud stating that he (the viewer) was worried that Hugo Chavez would cancel or block the Fox news channel in Venezuela because he ( the viewer) watches O'Reilly every night. My jaw dropped cos I didn't know that the most socialistic dictator hated by Fox news let them even operate for a second in his socialistic country and even let them show the factor...goes to show you that most times these right wingers are full of hot air..my two cents

Maybe because the issue or phenomenon is being discussed publicly makes this an argument. The realization is that America is both a socialist and capitalist entity. We respect the right of the individual and we take of our own. Socialist are people who spread wealth and share advancement. SO is it bad being a socialist nation? Whenever we develop policies to aid the disadvantaged or financially unstable, we socialize wealth and develop policies around that agenda. This is just a reality, a realization if I might add, that that is what we do and who we are. We are a nation built with politics of Liberals, Conservatives, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents alike. We have develop our entire government with the involvement of all of these parties to constitute "a more perfect union".
