            Adolf Hitler 20 April 1889 – 30 April 1945) was an Austrian-born German politician and the leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party (German: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), popularly known as the Nazi Party. He was the ruler of Germany from 1933 to 1945, serving as chancellor from 1933 to 1945 and as head of state (Führer und Reichskanzler) from 1934 to 1945.

        Let me help you here: NAZI stands for what is spelled in German: Nazional sozialistiche, which in English is "national socialism".
        It was indeed socialism, but this idea was more aimed at taking care of one's own people in a homogeneous "nation" society, not the multi-cultural, multi-racial, nightmare we have in the U.S. today.

          Actually, that's not really true. Hitler cared little for the common German . . . there was definitely a class system. He adhered to a philosophy similar to the fascist philosophy of Mussolini. Neither had anything to do with socialism nor liberalism. Both were uber-right wing ideologies wherein government and big business were bedfellows. The average citizen was simply a necessary drone. Both were authoritarian forms of government.

      Yeah! Whenever my girlfriend gets all huffy about me comparing her to Hitler I'm like, "You're a vegetarian. Hitler was a vegetarian. That's all I was sayin'. Get over yourself!"

        Another reason I've heard from screech monkeys as to why Hitler was a lefty. He was a vegetarian. Only liberals are vegetarians!

        Of course, ignoring the fact that I know a half dozen or so conservatives who are vegetarians personally.

      Rush, you started this when you coined the term "Feminazi" to describe women that you didn't like. Nancy told the truth, some of your fans showed up with swastikas and SS insignia and she called them on it, so you started saying she provoked this. Hey Largebaugh, there isn't ice thick enough for your bloat, so just apologize and get it over with, but drop any of the grab your ankles imagery please, I just finished lunch.

      Oi, so many of you sound like you're just complaining because you can.

      If you know any of German history you would know that the Nazi party was also known as the National Socialist Party, fascism is a form of totalitarianism, which is ideologically based on centralized government, government control of business, government control of health care, repression of criticism or opposition. All of this curiously sounds like socialism to me.

        You are incorrect. The name had nothing to do with the actual structure of the Nazi regime . . . it was a fiction.

        And, yes, I DO know German history, but apparently you know only what you read in Jonah Goldberg's WILDLY inaccurate book.

      Rush is still trying in vain to rewrite history to suit his tastes. Why can't the right just accept that Nazi Germany was a fascist dictatorship? I don't care if they put the word "socialists" in their name. A word doesn't describe your ideology, your actions do. Stalin called himself a communist, but he was a dictator who usurped and killed anyone he saw as a threat to his power. That's the common thread through Hitler and Stalin: dictatorships and murder as a means of control. The window dressing they used to describe their politics was overwhelmed by the reality of their despotic behavior.

        If Clear Channel wanted to silence Rush, they could have done it yesterday, no government sanction required. No one has a right to a radio show, period.
