I know he's a hard spot to put in, since no ideology or faction wants to claim him.
It was indeed socialism, but this idea was more aimed at taking care of one's own people in a homogeneous "nation" society, not the multi-cultural, multi-racial, nightmare we have in the U.S. today.
Of course, ignoring the fact that I know a half dozen or so conservatives who are vegetarians personally.

If you know any of German history you would know that the Nazi party was also known as the National Socialist Party, fascism is a form of totalitarianism, which is ideologically based on centralized government, government control of business, government control of health care, repression of criticism or opposition. All of this curiously sounds like socialism to me.
And, yes, I DO know German history, but apparently you know only what you read in Jonah Goldberg's WILDLY inaccurate book.
