Same here. Although, for the most part, a majority of republicans were for stem cell research (govt funding of it), but there were just enough, during Bush years, that if he vetoed the bill, like he did, they didn't have enough to overturn it.

      WAIT A BLOODY SECOND.
Now you are CONCERNED about the development of STEM CELL RESEARCH?! After years of portraying it as evil, now all of a sudden it's hunky dorey? Or is it because that it could have helped Ronnie?
Second of all, NOT ALL sectors need to make huge profits. This is one of them. Pharmaceuticals that save peoples lives shouldn't cost more than what most people can afford. It's torture, it's lunacy, it's just plain cruelty.

All the stem-cell research moved to socialist Canada, UK, and France, thanks to Shrub.

What does insurance have to do with stem cell research? And since when is the right in favor of stem cell research?

Wait, wasn't this jokers point supposed to be to make us empathasize with the poor drug/pharma inventors who were going to be put out of business...so he closed with the fact that his buddy just made a billion from selling one to J&J. Taxes paid on a billion aside, nice way to put the problem in perspective. Over-priced drugs driving up the price of insurance. Even if a new healthcare system impacts the R&D for pharma, somehow I think there may be a few folks out there still willing to invest in order to sell a drug for say $500 million (half price is still a chunk of change).

So if Obama wants to get his agenda done easier, he just needs to speak out against it, and then the opposition party, opposition no matter what Obama's position, will support Obama really wants.

      Problem solved.
