This should be interesting. I have a lot of respect for Rachel Maddow. Will they allow her to point out the lies which will inevitably pour out of Dick Armey's piehole?

I think Rachel will do a great job. She has been reporting on this lately and bringing out the lies behind the lies. I can't wait to see her do some real reporting.

That's what I was thinking. They'll try? Thats like me going to my new boss and saying "I'll try to put some limits around those numbers, sir." or "I'll try to get that new test line up and running this year, sir." He may as well have said "I'll try, but don't hold me accountable if I fail".

Okay, I'm starting the pool now; how many times will Rachel/Daschle be allowed to speak without being interrupted by Armey/Coburn? I'm taking zero for myself...

I'm not sure Daschle will be on Rachel's side. He's a big health care lobbyist himself. This looks like a three-on-one panel to me.

This is nice to hear, but he should have been getting past the confusion on health care every week for a while now.

I see this and other mainstream media suddenly jumping on the issue as a sign that they think the argument is starting to trend in favor of reform. When it looked like the teabaggers were winning, they couldn't rush fast enough to proclaim that the "protesters" were authentic; this sudden turning to the "misinformation" theme seems to indicate that the teabaggers are losing steam, so to speak. Remember, the mainstream news media never sets a trend; they only follow it...

You are quite correct, FTLOE. A sure sign of this is how, in addition to both CBS and NBC recently reporting on the need for healthcare reform, ABC actually cited both Rush Limpballs and Glenda Beck in regard to the "threats" in the healthcare.

As I said in the thread on that subject, its interesting how they'd make mention of two wingnut screamers -- and NOT the SEIU, ACORN, or other supposed "legbreaking thugs" . . .

Armey doesn't even like Medicare. He views people with medicare as "wards of the state" (said that last night on "The News Hour"). Any arguments from him against details of the plan should be viewed with that in mind. He's going to object to any sort of plan details no matter what. Seems to me like a discussion of this sort should exclude people whose minds are basically totally closed to any such plan.

Quit inviting lying GOPigers on your show. That would be one way to get past the confusion.

I SO agree. They say they want to get at the truth, then invite misinformers on to discuss it with a few that are factually oriented. The usual confusion in the uninformed ensues. Why would they expect a different result?

Rachel stated last night that she would be going on MP this Sunday appearing with Dick Armey, and we know she will do "WONDERFUL". Remember, how Ms. Maddow held her own when Pat Buchannon and Joe Scarborough tried to muscle their Republican viewpoints on her last year? Ms. Maddow would be "GREAT"! We just hope that she and former Sen. Tom Daschle get "EQUAL" time to respond. LOL

That's rather lke me hoping a bag of hundred-dollar bills will fall out of the sky onto my front yard, and just about as likely. The most basic con tactic on these sort of shows is simply never let the opponent speak; always interrupt or shout down the other side whenever they try to make an argument. I've never yet seen a show of this format where it hasn't happened...

And of course the teabaggers at the town halls are using exactly the same tactic of not allowing their opponents to speak. I wonder where they learned it?...

Of course! It is Dick Armey's FreedomWorks group that is behind the misinformation and the promotion of the disruption tactics at the town hall meetings. I hope Rachel gets a chance to call him out on that. I also hope that Daschle will help her rather than help the other side. I fear the second will more likely be true since Daschle is a health care industry lobbyist himself.

She will do fine and will MAKE her own time. She's very adept at wedging herself into conversations (cut her teeth next to the shouting of "Uncle Pat") - I think she'll hold her own. The real question is if Daschle will add any value.

If allowed, Rachel Maddow could defeat every one of these guys in a fact based, logical discussion.
And, yeah, I think she could kick their asses in a fist fight too.

Which is why Armey and Coburn are counting on their good buddy David to not allow such a discussion. Or, at the very least, that their good buddy David will allow them to use that favored old tactic of channel-blocking...

          You're absolutely right, lips.
Gregory has been such a disappointment on MTP. Whether on purpose or through sheer laziness, he lets Republicans say pretty much whatever they want.
Every Sunday, his poor performance on MTP just makes me miss Russert all the more.
