What I think is a bit strange though is that David Koch is a big supporter of PBS productions, which is criticized for being too leftie.

Koch is literally behind everything nasty for nearly three decades. Koch family's key goal is to maintain/create an oligarchy with them in a sinecure. Low taxation for them, high taxation for people trying to break into the club.

They're vehemently opposed to innovation, invention and competition ...unless it's their own. (note: I'm and inventor and entrepreneur and I keep finding them behind some of the nastiest 'only the big boys are allowed' policies such as patent protection, other intellectual property, and how entrepreneurs are taxed more than passive capitalists.

So when you read about "free market system" they're not talking about Adam Smith's vision. In fact, re-read Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations where he specifically warns against mercantilism which requires two key parties: A controlling government, and a merchant class which has sufficient wealth to direct the government to protect the interests of the merchants in the guise of protecting the government's wealth in the form of gold. Few people read this far.

Adam Smith promoted the concept of the wealth of nations is not the gold in the hands of the government (or the merchant class) but in the nation's capacity to produce valuable goods and services.

I would further assert that the single payer option is creative destruction envisioned by Adam Smith because the for-profit insurance firms cannot deliver a service that offers the same value.

However, private insurers could offer specialty insurance, as they do in France, England, and elsewhere for people who may want special services such as cosmetic surgery or concierge hospitals.

When all Power rests in the hands of a few, it matters little whether government is directly above corporate interests, or directly below.

Capitalism, Communism, Socialism, Fascism, etc etc

The Master/Slave relationship is essentially the same in the end.

Any system Mankind can contrive, Mankind can also corrupt.

At the very, very bottom I guess I should include Air America but since nobody listens to their hogwash and they would be bankrupt without Georg Soros I wont. They are the ultimate puppet.

Do we need to wait for 60 Minutes to dig into this story in 2010? I appreciate what AC is doing but this is the 2nd ex-insurance exec who has related how the industry is doing its best to quash health care reform and they're barely scratching the surface. Rachel Maddow is the only one attempting to put these organizations under the magnifying glass. Oh how could I be so stupid, the Con view is we've got the best insurance in the world so the their efforts to subvert the debate must be A-OK.

        Wendell Potter has come clean...

He was on Bill Moyers about a month ago. If you want to watch an amazing interview--watch this.

Go to Bill Moyers.com for video or the transcript.

Do you know what the medical loss ratio is? Wall Street knows. Oh yes!, they know. It's the way that Wall Street rations care. Why do so few know about it? ...Maybe we should ask the corporate media?

Forget trying to inpugn Moyers. If you actually watched his program, you would know that if he ever has any ties with any person or any entity, he always discloses them.

Try watching him, you might actually learn something.

These people attempting to impugn the integrity and reputation of Bill Moyers I bet have never watched his programs, and have been feed so much BS they couldn't tell good reporting and journalism if it slapped them in the face. I mean these are same kooks that fight against their own interest around healthcare and worry more about the health of the insurance companies than their own. What can you expect!

The way I see it, if you want to impugn someone's name, you better be ready to prove that the connections have caused a person to forward opinions they would not normally have. That, or that they forward opinions that are contrary to what all other sources give. For example, the Global Warming deniers constantly point out "research" that proves it does not exist, but if you examine the researchers, they all work for the very companies that would profit from more lenient regulations of emissions. Further, the "research" is contrary to all other peer-reviewed material on the matter, and therein lies my point. When you hear about some new research, make sure that it is peer-reviewed, otherwise its not even worth it to use it as toilet paper.

Here's a good, thoughtfully written article about the current health care debate from Truthout.org. Here's an excerpt:

The Gorilla Dust of Health Care
          Saturday 15 August 2009

          by: Michael Winship, t r u t h o u t | Perspective

The attacks on Bill and Hillary Clinton's plan for health care reform back in the '90s were a tiptoe through the tulips compared to the current assault. That's because it's about a lot more than attempting to ease the financial pain of illness - or a socialist government takeover of medicine, depending on your point of view. Organizers (such as former Republican Majority Leader Dick Armey's FreedomWorks), special interests and people who are just plain mad as hell have turned it into a shrill national referendum, reigniting age-old prejudices and fears that bubbled at the surface during last year's presidential campaign.

Grassley brings Glenn Beck’s book to town hall meeting to ‘pass it on.’
Beck is getting the money and he's feeling he has power! Dang,my question though is why is a learned man like Sen. Grassley falling for his BS. Is this an indication of Grassleys intellect or opportunism?

I saw this last night and was stunned that CNN actually had someone on that could shed light on these insurance scams. I hope Mr. Potter is given more air time on other shows. More people should know that having a plan is no guarantee that it will fully cover you. I once found out by accident that my doctor had put in my file that I had asthma because I requested a chest x-ray on my first visit a few years earlier. I don't have it and never did. I'm certain he put that in there to justify to the PPO provider why he granted something that could not be done in-house at his newly opened practice. If I had not been ask about "my asthma" by a male nurse a few years later, referencing my file, I would never have known it was in there. That could been used as a pre existing condition if the ***t hit the fan for me medically. And a nicer doc you could not find. Beware.
