You know the wingnut teabagger brigade has run out of material when they constantly refer to something {"death panels"} that doesn't exist . . .

With the way America is going don't believe the tea baggers will run out of material. Have you read the health care plan? I heard on the news that after Sarah Palin's comment they were taking it out?? Not sure why we need all this discussion on Health Care anyway.

Exactly. The Republicans have mastered this method of deceit. They hurl outlandish accusations at their opponent, then declare them guilty no matter which way they respond. If they don't respond, they must be guilty... if they do respond, they must be guilty. This method was used very effectively during the Inquisition, by the way.

Simple Sarah Palin is already crowing about her "victory" over the Death Panels. Don't be surprised if she lists that among her accomplishments when she runs for President. "I defeated the Death Panels!", and her simple-minded followers will cheer.

By the way, does anybody even believe that Palintwit came up with "Death Panels" on her own? 10 to 1 she was fed that talking point by some Conservative Think Tank.

FoxNews Channel continue to push their "scare tactics" against HealthCare Reform for the Republicans. But just wait FoxNews Channel, until MSNBC, CNN, or The Daily Show dig up those old FoxNews Channel's videos showing how FNC's Hosts pushed "EVERY" single Republican Talking Point from former Pres. Bush's (and Karl Rove's) Administration over the past eight years. Uh, oh. LOL.

Actually you would find a lot of scorching zingers if you played back archival quotes from the right wing attack punditry over the last 20 years. Playback from before the Iraq war would be quite revealing. All their speculation about the Clintons and their quest for world domination would be worth a review as well.

John Stewart has done a good job digging into the archives. A comprehensive retrospective archival review of Rush, BO or Hannity over the years is long overdue.

Jon Stewart has pretty much demolished Glenn Buckbuckbuck on Health Care, with his pulling out 2007 archival material after Beck underwent surgery.

But, unfortunately, most of Stewart's viewers are liberal/progressive, so it's like preaching to the choir, where as Beck's viewers have been drinking the conservative kool-aid for so long even irrefutable proof won't convince them.

I think it says more about how pervasive, and insidious the misinformation has been on this issue.

Seems to me, most of the folks yelling and screaming at these townhalls are worried about "death panels". Since that really isn't an issue, problem solved right?

Then again, this is the same birther crowd who won't believe the truth even if it sits on their face and farts.

The words "death panels" are a pejorative. A panel does not take into account the individual, or the family. End of life counseling is just that - a person is facing the end of life.

My mother, and our family had end of life counseling. My mother was terminal, and decisions had to be made. She fought a valiant fight against cancer, but it was it was a losing one. Which, I hate to break to everyone is something all of us are going to have to face someday. It will be a family member, or yourself.

The doctor, a very good one, told us it was over. Hospice helped us. They made my Mom as comfortable as she could be, (at home) and helped us deal with inevitable. None of us wanted to let her go. Honestly, she didn't want to go either. She fought 'til the very end, and I mean the very end. She died in her sleep, but with a tear on her cheek.

Hospice saw us through the transition. Our pastor helped us through the transition and grief.

My point is: it is not about a blue pill, or a red pill.It is about dealing the reality of terminal illness. Decisions will always be made in concert by physicians, patients, and families.

I'm sorry for your loss Canaan. That was a great post.

My wife and I were both widowed and were lucky enough to have discussed end of life issues with our spouses while everyone was healthy. Even with directives in place, we both had to deal with family members who wanted us to ignore our spouses wishes and follow their demands.

I had no problem and not one regret giving my wife her last gift. To die with dignity.

I am sorry for your loss. But, we owe to our loved ones to, as you say,
          "die with dignity."

No matter what, it is so hard to let them go. We go on.

          Thanks

        Dealing with realities.

I have several horror stories of terminally-ill patients going out in severe pain, (probably hastening their demise, aside from making it hellish) just because their good doctors were too timid to prescribe them anything that might lead to a long-term dependency...

I'm sure you have encountered a few tales of that nature as well.

Its a good example of how a socio-political climate, and the feel-good legislation that ensues, can have negative impacts on the physician-patient relationship, and on the innocent.

Incredible, that muttonheads like Tantaros are propped up on these shows as if they have any sort of credibility.

"Ha ha, that bumbling White House. They need a website to explain that they're not promoting euthanasia. Coming up next: Obama Euthanasia-- Fact or fiction?? We'll discuss the controversial issue with Sarah Palin, Glen Beck and some confused old racist when we get back."

I stand corrected. A bout of insomnia led me to watch Glen Beck with a chalkboard, on which he drew a tree showing the roots of the Green movement's influence on Obama. The word "communist" was tossed out, and Fox doesn't seem to be shying away from their most insane spokesnuts.

Well, Col., these days, in order to be an "expert" on the Fox Comedy Channel, you don't need any credentials, such as a degree, or even any expertise . . . just a willingness to push right wing talking points, loudly and repeatedly . . .

"The White house can't lobby anybody", what planet is this right wing moron living on?

The white house has staff to talk to members of Congress, the President uses the "Bully Pulpit", what this isn't lobbying ???

As to the bonehead who said Obama is in trouble because he has to put up a video debunking the the right wing crackpot lies of Death Panels, and we're gonna pull the plug on Grandma.

I guess it would be better if the administration stayed quiet while these out and out lies are banging around the right wing echo machine.

The days of us LIBERLAS staying quiet about the lies propagated by you folks on the right, are gone. Remember there's a new sheriff in town, as of Jan 20, 2009. YOU GUYS LOST!

Good point. I would add that you know the Truth isn't doing well when they actually have to have a website that shows that they're not for euthanasia. If the media were more concerned about its duty to accurately educate the public about current events, such a website wouldn't be necessary at all. It's not a black eye for the White House, it's a black eye for the media in general and Fox in particular.
