EMBED

Contrary to his protestations that "judges are different than legislation," as a U.S. senator, Allen:

  • Voted in favor of a 2001 amendment to the fiscal year 2002 budget resolution that allowed for the consideration of Bush's 2001 tax cuts -- the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 -- through the reconciliation process.
  • Subsequently voted for the 2001 tax cut bill itself.
  • In 2003, voted for the Senate version of the fiscal 2004 budget resolution that called for additional tax cuts to be considered under reconciliation.
  • Voted for the final version of the 2004 budget resolution.
  • Voted against an amendment to the Senate version of the budget resolution, proposed by Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV), that would have stripped reconciliation instructions from the 2004 resolution.
  • Voted for the 2003 tax cut bill passed under reconciliation.
  • In 2005, voted for the final version of the fiscal 2006 budget resolution, which also called for tax cuts through reconciliation.
  • Subsequently voted for the Tax Increase Prevention and Reconciliation Act of 2005 itself.

I challenge George Allen (who makes me ashamed to be a Virginian) to show where reconciliation is only designated for use during nomination battles. That's right, only for use by Republicans is more like it.

Didn't George Allen lose an election recently? Why does his opinion matter?

Not only does a Republican losing an election get you on Fox News Channel, so does committing treason, et al. Oliver North, G. Gorden Liddey.

Here goes FoxNews Channel, with Sean Hannity, again by having "former" Politicians get caught with telling lies (new record here within 20 seconds), and loosing credit with whatever their so-called opposition argument was about. LOL

Uh, oh here comes Jon Stewart adding former Sen. George Allen to the 'he said, he said' video vault from FoxNews Channel, LOL. Remember last week when Jon showed FoxNews Channel's "AWESOME" 'he said, he said' segment with Glenn Beck vs Glenn Beck? Too funny indeed.

There is a reason George Allen is notlonger a senator besides the fact that Virginia wised up. He is nothing but a right wing hypocritical stooge.

Lousy football coach???? He never had a losing season. He took a Redskin team that had losing records almost every year and made them a perennial playoff team. Yes he lost the only Super Bowl he got too, But with Jurgensen out with injury, winning was more difficult. Maybe the best GM ever, George Allen could size up talent and obtain players that were seemingly unobtainable.
His son wishes he could have been the senator who performed as well as his Dad the football coach.

I loved how Coach Allen would continue to win with aging players, I think they were called the "Over the Hill Gang".

Now that I'm over the hill, I appreciate Allen's brilliance even more.

Memo to George Allen, Sean Hannity and the rest of the conservative coven: Using reconciliation is not the nuclear option. Reconciliation is a legislative process of the United States Senate intended to allow a contentious budget bill to be considered without being subject to a filibuster. The "nuclear option" is an attempt by a majority of the United States Senate to end a filibuster by majority vote, as opposed to 60 senators voting to end a filibuster. This term was coined by Trent Lott.
Also, George be honest on when reconciliation was used by republicans. The Bush tax cuts were done under reconciliation, as was the Reagan tax cut in 1980. This is not appointment of judges. How I understand it recpmciliation cannot be used in the appointment of judges for it is used to allow budgets.
