In one breath she cites Eddie Murphy and claims the problem with health is the government. How exactly is the government involved in health care...besides providing health care to our Vets, elderly, and poor. GASP, what Christian values!

I would hardly say Medicaid covers the poor anymore. You have to be just about dirt-poor and receiving no money to get it. Many are too poor for health insurance but still don't qualify for Medicaid.

Were Doocy and Wretchin'Gretchen trying to get her wound up for better TV? Yes. Was Barney a bit rude, yes, do I think it was warranted after the Hitler question, yes. Do we need Medicare and Social Security? Yes. Are they socialized programs? Yes. Does that make people less free? No, it makes them better able to live in society. Do we need some sort of national health care program? Yes. Will it I also be a socialized program? I hope so! The freedom to die for some treatable illness because you can't afford treatment isn't a good thing. The freedom to starve to death or sleep on the streets isn't a great thing either. Societies should be judged by how they treat the least of the people, not the richest.

But, epkklk851, ask almost any rich person and you'll find out poor people don't matter. There are literally tons of them, so losing a few to disease or hunger or lack of shelter just means fewer government handouts. Besides, everybody knows that poor people are just lazy, or drug abusers, or likely both, and if they would just apply themselves, they could be rich too. Such a shame. (end of sarcasm. We now return you to your regularly scheduled Cat...)

It really gets me to hear "good Christians" trash the poor. I am a devout Catholic. Jesus said "The poor are always with you" and Whatsoever you do to the LEAST of my people, that you do unto me." Well, I know I don't do enough to help, but I also know that poverty comes from not having had chances at something better. I know that my mother always worked very hard at her job as a janitor, but she only had a high school education and she was legally blind, if we had had to depend on her for our support, instead of my father, the union trucker, we would have been very poor. As it was, my family stretched to put me in college. I was lucky to get out and move up in the world. Not everyone is lucky. It is like winning the lottery. You can play, but most times you don't get a break. As Thoreau said, "Most men lead lives of quiet desperation." The rich ones have more stuff and an analyst, the poor ones just suffer.

I agree, epkklk851. I agree that society should be judged on how it treats the least of its members: the poor, the orphaned, the widowed, the prisoner. Sad it doesn't work that way, isn't it? I've been homeless, and I've been in jail. I have a first hand perspective of what the wealthy think about everyone else. Hence the previous post.

I don't have a lot of faith in the 'charity' of the wealthy. They think they've been blessed by God with the wealth for their own enjoyment for the most part, if they believe in God at all.

I don't have a lot of faith in the charity of the wealthy either, and I have never had your experiences. I remember back in the '80s, I read about a homeless woman in California. She said, "I had a house with three bedrooms, I had a microwave! I'm not supposed to be homeless." That was almost 30 years ago. I hope she got back on her feet. I hope you are well, with a home and a job, now Cat. It sounds like you have had a hard time in the past, I hope things are better now.

      Douchy,

I believe the 20 seconds of Barney Franks' answers show that he is correct about the BDSers' (Birthers/Deathers/Screamers with a dash of WMDers tossed in ). They ask questions, they are given answers. If they don't agree with the ANSWER to their question, they don't discuss it they tell the representatives how wrong they are. They only want the answers to fit their mindset..

TOO BAD....just like NaziLady from PlanetWingNutz, my diningroom table has the ability to reason more than this woman. Has she been on Fox, Hannity or some other nutz show? Maybe the libs should make her the poster Wingnut of the Republican Party.
Rumor has it that she is Tommie Delays' partner on the Danicing show. Their strong dances are the:

      Racist Rumba
      Moonbat Walk
      Nazi Goosestep
      Conservative Twist
      Wingnut Waltz

      and many many more....

Fox deliberately ignores the fact that the crowd was on Rep. Franks side. They booed the girl with the Nazi references and applauded his dinning room table remark.

But then Fox is the "news" outlet that speaks directly to the furniture and potted plants of America.

FoxNews Channel just upset with Rep. Barney Frank for "NOT" coming back on their network to increase summer ratings for Bill O's Show, that's all. FoxNews Channel want people to talk about how F&F along with the network was backing Citizens instead of Rep. Frank. Why? This will drum up water cooler talk leading to Rep. Frank coming on FoxNews Channel's network to take on Bill. It's basic 'how-to-get-more-viewers' 101, that's all. Wink, wink. LOL

Btw, we hope Rep. Frank "DO NOT" fall for FoxNews' tricks, and stay away for a loooooonnnnnnngggggg timmmmmme. Let's see how well FoxNews handle Rep. Frank's no-show. Hmmmm, LOL.

      Serious?
Eddie Murphy starring in some hollwood movie is the source for how the healthcare system works in America?
And B. Frank could've been more calmer at that meeting, (just the way I'd go about it), but I'm sorry, if people are stupid enough not to see the problem with not being able to see the video, showing the crowd speaking etc., then those people are completely, 100 percent, physyciatrically stupid.

It is common knowledge that Rep. Frank doesn't suffer fools gladly. The question got precisely the response and the tone of voice it deserved.

I actually thought he was quite restrained. Had it been me, I would have asked the 'dining room table' to produce ID and prove she was in fact a constituent. Absent that, throw her out of the building. That's what security is for, after all. She can stand out in the street and exercise her right to free speech.

I would hate to work for Media Maters when it comes to debunking "Fox and Friends." You have very tough choices to make. Do you just upload the whole show or do you trying and pick the worst bits of misinformation or bad journalism? If you decide to choose the worst bits, what criteria do you use to make that decision? It's all really bad.

Are they not the same people who laughed at the idea of having money in the stimulus package for flu pandemics, a week before Swine Flue first became news? Did they not laugh at the fact that laws were being put in place to stop people from texting while driving and today were in support of it.

Is there no way of not allowing them to call the channel news? What they do is not responsible.

Is there any evidence at all that the dining room table was indeed a constituent?

And our 'expert' eye-witness guest is quoting an Eddie Murphy movie to support her point?

I do like the leading questions by the hoses, though. That was a nice touch. "Do you think Barney Frank is a great big meanie who just wants everything his own way?" Thoughtful pause, then the predictable reply. "Yes. Yes I do." And what you 'think' is relevant because you were a poli-sci major? You have extensive experience covering press conferences? You are an elected official?

Nope, it's just because you think that the insurance companies can 'fix this problem'. Got news for ya. They have fixed the problem. They've made it OUR problem, that's how they fixed it. They are right now trying to get you the consumer to pay 35% of whatever medical costs you incur. On TOP OF your premiums. Their answer to health coverage expense: Give us MORE of your money, and then let us KEEP more of your money.

      DEMOCRATS TALKING BACK!
      DEMOCRATS NOT TAKING BS!
      DEMOCRATS RESPONDING!
      DEMOCRATS GROWING A PAIR!
      DEMOCRATS ACTING LIKE THEY'VE F***ING WON A F***ING ELECTION!
