Jon Stewart rips into Fox News' hypocrisy, "They're liberals now"

        After contacting our attorneys and inquiring about the legal aspects of your claim that Jon Stewart is a genius, we have been advised that we are within our legal rights to request that intellectual accreditation be assigned to Rupert Murdoch, as all of Mr. Stewarts creative material that would indicate a superior level of intellect is actually written for him by Fox News.

          OOPS... someone had an opinion that didn't agree with Faux... so response is fear tactics and social strong arming? But then again, same ole, same ole... why expect different.

          Maybe it's jealousy their writers or presenters aren't in that category of "genius"? Genius for the research and genius for the creative anchoring? Perhaps Jon or Rupert can help with some tips?

      HAHA, but it's not hypocrisy, they know exactly what they're doing, they know their viewers are so dumb they can never bother to check any kind of facts whatsoever, they take all these bozos at their word and fox knows that.

      it's scary to think the control these guys have over such a huge segment of the population.

        You bring up an interesting irony about this: The Daily Show staff put more effort into research and collection of all those Fox clips than ANY of the shows featured in them have ever put into anything.

      Simply awesome.

      Dealing with the inanity of the right would be a lot more frustrating without Stewart around to cut to the chase. He's worth a million Hannitys and Coulters.

      The obvious hypocrisy of Fox magnificently displayed.

      Only Fox can claim to be the biggest and best network and victims at the same time!

      These guys are entertainers and partisans who have discovered that the right wing fringe are devout, mindless, and profitable.

      If the far left was as profitable, they'd be the Marxist channel.

      Mr. Stewart, it is my sincere hope that your career continues to flourish. Considering the broad range of material the Right provides you with on a daily basis, I suspect it will. It is also my sincere hope that you know of this thread on MMfA, if only to be aware of how much you are desperately needed to keep doing pieces just like this.

        Nope. Saw that clip. Didn't see anything undermining Stewart's claims. Other than not providing the complete quote about the protestors that O'Reilly called "loons", he still said that "survey's show, many protestors are simply loons" and then continued to say (baselessly) "they're calling for the destruction of America and retreating in the face of terror".

          This is true. I watched O'Reilly's attempt to undermine Stewart, but the subject of the sentence he claims is taken out of context is quite clearly 'many protestors', NOT 'the arrested protestors'.

          Maybe Stewart is distorting what O'Reilly thought he MEANT to say?

        So you're buying O'Reilly's spin? I watched the clip of O'Reilly's rebuttal, and it was extremely weak. O'Reilly (and various other Fox News personalities/reporters, which O'Reilly had no defense for at all) clearly criticized dissent in various ways during the Bush administration. They clearly called on dissenters to be harshly punished (tazing, etc.). They clearly ridiculed protesters in the past, yet now they claim to be staunch defenders of protests.
