I was listening to an NPR broadcast about healthcare reform about three weeks ago. The guests they brought to discuss to disguss the topic; one hack from the Cato institute, and another hack from the Cato institute. A very illuminating discussion ensued, of course.

If only the liberal NPR would put on two Ayn Rand institute "scholars", then they'd be Fair And Balanced.

If they want real balance, when they have someone on from the Cato Institute, they need to have someone on from the Green Hornet Institute.

      Juan,

Who are your sources for this disinformation? Think hard...

I suggest it's time for pundits to do what reporters do: Openly keep a notebook or journal. When you hear something of interest, write down the statement or phrase, who said it, and where you heard it in the presences of the source. Later, you can refer back to your notes to see who fed you a line or a concept.

Over [a very brief period of] time you'll quickly discover which sources have been feeding you disinformation and which have had their facts straight. Sources who don't want you write something down obviously have problems.

Also, a reporter's notebook is very rarely subpoenaed. (See Judith Miller.)

If pundits behaved as though their editor were going to quiz them on their sources and verifying the information they'd be a much more thoughtful and less effective disinformation sources.

Hey Williams, when you get your head out of your bottom and smell the roses, you might find out the GOP has been obstructing since 7:51 PM PST Nov 4 2008. that is their strategy along with hurling accusations of naziism and sociallism ( communism ) Although veiled, it manifests itself in lunatics bringing weapons to presidential events. Who is the anarchist vs real americans.

As I said elsewhere, the true disgrace was when Williams said that passage of a HCR bill with only Democratic support (i.e. what most of us know as 'majority rule') would represent the bill being "shoved down our throats".

Those are the exact words he used. I kid you not.

Juan Williams is a disgrace, and the patsies at NPR are too cowardly to get rid of him. A self-respecting news organization should establish a "no consorting with FOX" policy. Precious little self-respect in journalism today.

The NPR needs to fire Juan "False Democrat" Williams. Hosting Bill O'Falafel's show was the last straw.

Ah yes, the liberal way, when all else fails, fire him, we don't want someone expressing opinions we don't agree with. Selective freedom of speech, liberalism 101. Great plan.

Journalist are supposed to be paid to inform the public, not deceive them. When a prominent broadcaster such as Williams resorts to falsehoods and fear-mongering instead of reportage, he/she damn well should be fired. It's called failure to perform your job to the required standards. Just as a pilot who repeatedly crashes planes because he is too lazy to learn all the complicated dials and switches needed to fly it properly should be fired, any "journalist" who can't be bothered to check his sources or do even the minimal footwark/brainwork necessary to report the news accurate should be fired. Why, oh why, do conservatives have such a problem with expecting people to do their jobs competently?

"Nuclear Option" are the "NEW" buzz words by Republicans to "scare" Americans some more about the HealthCare Reform Bill. Americans should just tell these Republicans that 'the only thing to fear, is fear itself' not the HealthCare Reform Bill, LOL.

You know, someone should ask these Republicans will they (or Family Members not in Congress) sign up for ANY of the HealthCare (whatever) when passed. We bet "yes" will be their answer. If so, then Republicans are doing just like they did with the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (Stimulus Bill) which ALL but three "opposed". Why? And why is MSM letting Republicans get away with this?

Republicans, if you (or Family Members not in Congress) are going to sign up for HealthCare (whatever) when passed, then why are you "scaring" GrandMa & GrandPa? Please explain. Hmmm, LOL.

Since when is a simple majority "ramming something through"? 51 votes wins in the Senate. Period.

This was a complete crock. Williams claims that passing with 51 votes means the bill loses its moral authority? He has to be joking??

      "Literally?"

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
