Very true! Amazing that the Roves of this world just do not get it. As a life long Republican, I can tell you categorically that Carl Rove and his illegal machine never did represent me, do not now represent my views, nor is there ever a day in the future when Carl Rove would represent my views. Remember, this is the guy who stood by and let G. W. Bush literally wreck the reputation of our country by grossly abusing POWs, by manipulating the reports of such activities and who had no moral compass that informed them of correct behavior. Their treatment of POWs sounded exactly like what happened when Nazis abused our military in WW2.

To say He 'stood by while GWB' wrecked things is to let him off easy. He was one of the prime archetects of all those policies as well as the trashing of the economy. Not to mention the continued degrading of our overall political discourse.

While it is true that Rove is a criminal of historic proportions, the CIA leak barely registers on the list of crimes he committed against The United States...
I could go down the list, but I think most of you know that song already.

He is subject to the death penalty. yes, I know the song but this penalty is the ultimate, there is no " degree of death ". History has given us many individuals who qualify and they all have the same degree of criminality at that level. Lucky for him, the US has a tolerance for these types of act which was not the case in 1776.

Funny how these guys are the top person responsible for things including groups of people but when things go south, they run to mothers skirts and it is the underlings that get the heat and the leaders walk away with nice things like brand new Jaguar cars " for a job well done. And a lucrative gig on television.

You're the one that is confused. Yes, Richard Armitage was the original source that told Novakula about Plame, but Rove did it as well and Rove used it to ruin her career and attempt to discredit her and her husband. Armitage’s disclosure in no way diminishes Rove’s role in attempting to blow her cover.

              I thought you knew that.

One of the unwritten rules of debate is that if you're going to be condescending, you've first got to give us some evidence that you're at least as intelligent as the rest of us. Otherwise, you come out looking comical, in a lame sort of way.

p.s. I think you meant "between a representative and a senator"--both are congressmen.

Glad to have boosted your intellect a notch there.

No, in Massachusetts, there has to be a special election held to fill Kennedy's seat. So again, you're an idiot, and don't know what you're talking about.

Don't mind puppies, his mommy is fixing him warm milk and cookies. He'll be off to nappy time soon.

But to answer your question, no one can be temporarily appointed, Massachusetts is one of the few states where his successor must be chosen by special election, and the minimum waiting time is 145 days. The seat will remain vacant until then.

People should have representation. They need someone to fill the seat and then have the special election. It's only fair. They did it with Mary Bono when Sonny crashed into a tree.

I don't understand why anyone would want power to be centralized in government in Washington. Don't we want the power to be at the state and local levels for them to decide on issues for themselves? I completely understand the necessity for there to be decisions and enforcements from and at the federal level, but let's not centralize the power there. This doesn't seem to really be misinformation to me.

It sounds like almost all of you agree that "Centralizing Power in Washington" is bad. Rove is being trashed here for hypocrisy in saying centalizing power is bad while having centralized power.

So how does this work as to the Government option in Health Care, The Federal takeover of Businesses and Banks, Cash for Clunkers and Cap and Trade?

Are you all admitting, by trashing Rove and the previous administration's centralization of power, that all of the above are bad ideas?

      Just curious.

As far as the banks go, it was a good idea. Many of the banks quickly paid off their debt to regain control from the government. It wasn't set up as some permanent takeover, looks like it had it's intended effect. Same can be said of cash for clunkers (though I fail to see what you think the government took over). Polluting engines were taken off the grid, and lots of work was created. We had the person who had to drain the oil and replace it with a mixture that basically turned to glass when the engine was turned over and heated, the oil was recycled, the cars were towed from the yard to a junk yard, the junk yard owners stripped off all the good re-usable parts and sold them, sounds to me like a win for all. As for health care, I expect to see the same type of success. The post office certainly hasn't put fed ex and other like companies out of business, and in many ways you can say that the current poor state of the post office was spurred by the innovation of the internet and e-mail (which you will recall was originally funded by the government).

This is a hoot coming from one of the main architects for the centralizing and consolidation of executive branch power ever to be done in the history of the United States duing the Bush administration.

Rove should have been more careful of the precedent that Bush set when grabbing as much, and consolidating executive power that he did when in the White House.
