Mr. Scheuer should be in a mental home, NOT on Fox News.

There's a place in hell for you and almost all of Fixed Noise people.

He got a lot of flack about that too. Only FOX is "patriotic" enough to host this clown. At least I hope only FOX is still giving him a forum.

The guy who said Bin Laden is our best chance as a country is accusing others of siding with the enemy? Too rich.

If a contributor on an actual news network said as much absolute horse stuff as Scheuer has on Fox, he or she would have been canned.

Good lord, FoxNews continues scrapping the scum off over-turned rocks and mainstreaming them by putting them on the air.

If you are going to let someone get away with saying the administration is "pro-terrorist", then you should no longer be allowed to ever say "fair & balanced" ...

      Let's check the score card:

Outing a covert CIA agent - Republicans

Tasking unqualified CIA agents to conduct "interrogations" (i.e. torture) - Republicans.

Looks like this clown is wrong. Republicans 2, Democrats 0.

Actually, tasking unqualified civilian contractors to torture and interrogate suspected terrorists is closer to correct.

Remember the outing of Plame was for punishment/revenge so you can't hold it against them, right? Revenge is okay if someone questions a Republican administration, isn't it?

So basically, this guy is labeling Democrats pro-terrorist. What exactly did this "former CIA operative" do for the CIA? I wonder how he feels about the outing of Valerie Plame?

Fox guest Scheuer: CIA "has grown pretty used to Democratic administrations who are both anti-agency ... pro-terrorist"

Well -- let's hope they've also gotten used to a Republican administration that likes to out its agents for political retaliation . . .

      "Pro-terrorist," Scheuer?

Wouldn't that be more closely descriptive of someone who was openly wishing for bin Laden to kill American citizens?

These are the same people that are saying Obama will kill your grandmother. They have no connection to reality; they're screeching and hoping people listen. Sheuer, who wraps himself in the flag, once again proves Sinclair Lewis right when he said "When fascism comes to America, it'll be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross."

If someone had said this in the last 8 years, they would have been called un-American and been asked to apologize for saying that the President is giving comfort and aid to the enemy. But as soon as Obama comes into office everything goes apparently. He's been called everything from a socialist to a terrorist by the right and they feel justified.

I seem to remember the Reps saying Clinton was wagging the dog when he tried to go after terrorists. The Republican party didn't give 2 fvcks about terrorism until 9/12/2001.

This dip stick has less credibility on the subject than a carrot. Anyone idiotic enough to publicly plead for another major attack has no business being on any channel but the Cartoon Network.

The Cartoon Network has more credibility than Fox so I'm not sure I see the problem.

I read Media Matters a lot and mostly enjoy the comments to the stuff posted, but this gets me. Scheuer is probably the most knowledgeable person in the world on the subject of Al-Queada and the roots of terrorism. The problem is how Fox 'News' brings out the worst in folks.

First off, he didn't plead for an attack on the US. He said it would take a suitcase nuke for the US to respond in what he believes to be the correct fashion to terrorism. Hyperbole sure, but far from wishing it to happen. Second, he has been just as critical about Republican administrations responses (or lack thereof) to a terrorist threat. I saw him speak about a year ago and he torched everyone about it. In fact, this was around election time and he was asked who the best candidate is on this issue. He simply replied 'neither' and said that no candidate could get elected if they were to take the 'proper' response.

I'm not defending Fox here, nor do I think his comments are exactly sound. Now, you may disagree with his theories; I personally think that his idea of a response would make things incredibly bad in the short term. But he isn't a fringe lunatic, he teaches a graduate level course on Al-Queada at Georgetown and has been one of -if not the only- person to cut to the chase about Bin Laden and his motives. Hell, Bin Laden himself said

"If you want to understand what's going on and if you would like to get to know some of the reasons for your losing the war against us, then read the book of Michael Scheuer in this regard."

In short, while it is fun to prod Fox, saying things like he 'publicly ple(d)' for an attack only add fuel to the fire. Read the books or at least the Wikipedia page before jumping to conclusions.

Just for the record Mr Scheuer.
-Hostage crisis in Iran = 0 Americans dead (Jimmy Carter)
-Marine Barracks in Beirut = 241 Americans dead (Ronald Reagan)
      -Pan Am 103 = 250 Americans dead (George H W Bush)
-JAN 1993 thru JAN 2001 = less than 100 Americans dead, including military personel, at the hands of Islamic terrorists
-Right Wing American Tim McVeigh = 168 Americans dead (Bill Clinton)
      -9/11 = over 3,000 Americans dead (George W Bush)
-Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan = Over 6,000 American military members dead (George W Bush)

If you look at the numbers, Democrats have a better track record keeping Americans safe than Republicans do. In fact, right wingers seem to be a bigger threat to Americans than Islamic terrorists when Democrats head the Executive Branch.

        Additionally for the record:

Mikey's saying the CIA has "grown used to " DEMOCRATIC administrations . . .

The CIA was chartered in 1947 -- in the 62 years since, how many democratic administrations have they gotten used to?

Not counting the current one, a grand total of FIVE:

        - Truman
        - JFK
        - LBJ
        - Carter
        - Clinton

Other than Truman, the only one of those who served two terms was Clinton . . . overall, out of the past 62 years before the '08 election, Republicans have been in the WH for 36 of those years.

Hell, I'd say they've gotten more used to the GOP than the Dems . . .
