How amusing, when the Democratic Party were a minority, the teabagging hicks were claiming back then that the party was about to be destroyed and was hi-jacked by the "uber left". Priceless. Taking advice from Becky is like looking at Hitler as a role model.

So Beck thinks there are "regular democrats". He actually said that? I couldn't believe my ears.

Anyway, thanks for the warning about the uber left thing, Beck. However, my peripheral vision works just fine.

I can see the uber left AND uber right out of the corners of my eyes while looking straight ahead. Looking straight ahead allows me to see where I am going and not veer off-course. A trick you ought to try for once.

I read his book "Common Sense"... he warns against people who claim there are "vast conspiracies", "shadow governments", "secret societies", and those "who will seek to exploit your frustration and sense of desperation"... so essentially, he warns you not to listen to him!

But I forgot, it is different for him, because the secret societies, vast conspiracies, shadow governments, and the exploitation of our frustrations he discusses are not conspiracies, but actually happening.

I probably qualify as "uber-left", and while I am not happy with the President about Afghanistan, some of the Bush inspired security issues, and prisoners at Gitmo, I am not angry with him. I am not angry with anyone nor do I have any desire to smother anyone with a pillow. Well, about that pillow, I could see myself smacking Bleck and Doozie upside the head quite easily....and Wretchin' Gretchen, too. Kilmeade is just too dumb already, any more blows to his head might be fatal.

I'd add myself to your list, and through in Obama's foreign policy toward Israel...
but. I'm always interested in Beck/O'Reilly et al and their efforts to characterise the 'uber left' or 'far left' *in this country.* I seem to recall an interview H. Clinton did with O'Reilly and there was something about a tax difference of 5% or so in the middle income bracket. 33% taxation was capitalism, and 39% was socialism. Something like that. Seems to me these megalomaniacs love to pidgeon hole, but if it ever came time to actually define 'left' and 'right' they would come up with nothing.

Yes, those figures are pretty close to correct. The Reagan Administration rewrote the tax code and lowered it to 33%, and the Clinton's raised it to 39%, and were able to balance the budget and work on the deficit, but I think the 39% rate actually came in under G.H.W. Bush, not just Clinton. They always paint Democrats as weak on defense spending, too, but the biggest swings have always come under Republicans. There was a chart out in 2004 that showed that the largest cut ever taken to defense was done by Bush41.

Here is an interesting chart that compares the marginal tax rate percentage for taxable income over a certain amount...

          http://www.truthandpolitics.org/top-rates.php

          2003 - 35% on income over 311,950
          2000 - 39.6% on income over 288,350
          1991 - 31% on income over 82,150
          1983 - 50% on income over 85,600
          1970 - 71.75% on income over 200,000
          1951-1963 - 91% on income over 400,000

I hardly see Obama's proposed raises as socialist, considering some of the highest rates were during Republican administrations... although Glenn Beck believes the subversives are patient and have been working since the early nineteen hundreds, so it is believable in his crazy world that liberal Marxist communist progressives were behind all tax increases.

That is a fascinating chart! I argued with my Econ Prof last spring. I had to take some Business courses to get my present job, so there I was in Econ 101 arguing with a teacher who was younger than me. He had gone through school when the Supply-Siders were all the rage, and me, a Keynesian, was very unaccepting of his Reagonomics speech where he railed against the 70% tax rate and how it stiffled investment. I kept telling him the economy was going to explode, and he kept saying there was nothing wrong, the market decided everything. Then last September hit, I wonder what he says now.

Even without in depth analysis, looking at the chart, higher taxes existed during times of prosperity (pre-Great Depression, the 1950s and 1960s, and the 90s).

Not all can be blamed or credited to taxes, but it is an interesting look when considering arguments about Obama turning America into a socialist nation... I am sure Socialist nations would probably laugh at that.

So now Beck has declared himself the spokesman for the Democrats. Like he knows or has researched what we want?

Glenn, Glenn, Glenn - the day you know what is going on in the Democratic Party; hell would have frozen over, spaceships will have landed on the White House lawn, Elvis would have come out with a new hit single, and Randall Terry would have come out in favor of abortions.

Hey, the small audience thing is the mantra of the folks at this site. You guys are the ones trying to have it both ways. On one hand you say his audience is inconsequential because it's small (liberal posters' description, not mine), yet you devote all this time to discrediting him. Either he's inconsequential and not worth your time, or he's someone to be reckoned with. Pick one and stick to it.

Gimme a break. Now--it is sincerely hoped here that the wingnuts whose fears Beck is dangerously exploiting are inconsequential. Obviously, no one taking the time to comment here believes he's inconsequential and that includes you. Otherwise you wouldn't bother. That's just plain, common sense.

He puts out missinformation of a conservative nature and strutting this stuff on the national media. Thats the only bar he has to cross to recieve a coment.
Who said his audience size was inconsequencial? Such a comment of that type usually follows a statement by a wingnut of the viewing audience/rating numbers and the awesomeness of those numbers. It is to bring some relativity to such posts.

why waste so much time on him?

Because hate speech has consequences. Because he's dangerous. And his audience is easily manipulated by his fearmongering.

Remember Dr. Tiller, the baby killer? How'd that one work out for the good doctor?

I'd reject that notion, too. But nobody I know of is saying that O'Reilly "made" him kill, so it's a straw man. We're saying O'Reilly fearmongers and encourages people who are susceptible--validating their fears and prejudices and enabling people to act on them.

Propaganda users have responsibilties. The killer made his own choices in the ending act. His range of choices were limited by O'Reilly's rhetoric. To be a conservative in good standing he had to work within O'Rielly's and other neocon world views of what that was. It put him on the path that homicide became an acceptable act.
O'reilly no more made him kill than Obama is working to turn the country into a wingnut's greatest fears. Yet the latter gets much credibility within that community.

It is a sad reflection on american freedoms that as yet nobody seems to answer the questions posed by Glenn Beck? Why Not? Surely there is someone in america that can take each of Glenn Becks' questions and answer them and prove Glenn Beck wrong?

Why cannot someone like Chris Mathews, Olberman, Katie COuric etc simply demolish his questions? Why hide?
