EMBED

TENNENT: Can you believe this though? What kind of man -- and then I've got to watch this on the news all weekend? This pig? Well good riddance, that's what I say. I'm sorry.

QUINN: Free at last, free at last, great god almighty --

TENNENT: The 16-year-olds are free at last from this pervert.

QUINN: Free at last from the Kennedys. Yeah, you know, this is going to make a difference.

TENNENT: You know he gave Obama a letter for the pope, did you know that?

QUINN: No.

TENNENT: When did Obama see the pope? In June, July? June or July, he was -- he went to see the pope, and Ted Kennedy asked him, please, give this letter to the pope.

QUINN: Send sacramental wine.

TENNENT: Begging, I guess for forgiveness or something, I don't know. What do you think? 'Cause he was sick, it was this summer.

Did I miss a scandal somewhere?

I realize that Kennedy was imperfect to say the least, but where and when did pedophilia come into play?

In a thread the other day... some of the right-wing trolls that actually argued that 'we' liberals claiming that many of the right-wing leaders / radio hosts / TV personalities will at some point in the near future, if not already doing so up to that time, make fun of, name call, or disparage Ted Kennedy or that it was or would be hypocritical and wrong for us to be so presumptuous about the possibility...

Whether it was a legitimate argument or not at the time... I think it is safe to say that at this time... it is no longer a matter of if or when... but for how long and to what degree!!

Of course... I might ask little Tokyo Rosy here what exactly is she talking about about this personal attack of "The 16-year-olds are free at last from this pervert"... because if she wants to go in this direction... she better have some facts to back it up or she can easily find herself with a bulls-eye from ColorOfChange.org for her disgusting unsubstantiated accusations!

It was never a hard call to make, cap'n. The left is like an obsession to the rightwing. Rightwingers can't help themselves, they are just stumbling over each other every day to come up with the most outrageous accusation du jure. But the real entertainment will be seeing if any of the posters from the other day even dare respond to your statement today. My odds say it will be a non-apology if they do dare.

Seems to me she's talking about Republicans.

When will the wingnuts admit that, given their history, it is absolutely legitimate and realistic to expect them to spew venom? It would be stupid NOT to expect it. When they pretend otherwise it only proves their own dishonesty.

When do we get that apology from Fairliberal? I believe she was the one saying that we shouldn't be so presumptuous to think that conservative media would be attacking and smearing Kennedy after his death.

The last time I checked the only women Ted Kennedy's name was linked to in any scandalous way were all of age. I thought the underage thing was Republican territory.

Yeah, LeftyMom, just that with Republicans, it's not usually underage women.

But Jar Jar Binks look-alike Rosy may have dug up some girls Ted Kennedy went to high school with, so she may be doing what passes for timely commentary in right wing world.

I have to confess to hitting on 16 year old girls as well, even though those girls are pushing 50 today.

Apparently Rose is talking about the incident with Kennedy trying to hit on two 16-year-old pages back in 1986 or 1987. (From the 1990 GQ article.) And apparently Kennedy hadn't learned a thing in twenty years, according to Rose.

Wow and golly gee. Some people just can't let go of the past.

By most accounts of people who were close enough to him to observe, Kennedy did turn his life around after acting like a reprobate earlier in his career.

And that's what I can't get over. People on one side can't forgive a Democrat, yet can forgive a Republican, and vice versa.

I'm willing to forgive people over time, but those that cannot forgive a person days after they have died have got some serious emotional baggage showing.

I know exactly the article to which you refer "A Sober Look at Ted Kennedy".

The reference was to a NINETEEN year old page who was walking with a sixteen year old page and the incident was as follows: The two girls were walking at some point around the capitol in D.C. According to the article, Ted Kennedy's limousine pulled up beside them and Kennedy opened the door and asked them -- politiely -- if they would like to have dinner with him. The two girls declined and that was the end of it.

The nineteen year old expressed surprise at the invitation because she didn't know him, but said in regard to here companion, "I don't know if she knew her age or not"....End of story.

Yes, Kennedy sent the Pope a letter, he promised to pray for the Pope and he explained how he had tried to live his life. There are a lot of things in Teddy's life that did not make his mother proud, but in the end, he was a great statesman who cared about his constituents and he tried to make the world a better place. Besides being ugly, what has Rose done for her world?

Honestly, can we cease with the ugly comments? First of all, beauty and ugliness is relative. Secondly, we need to stop comments on people's (read:women's looks) it does no favour for young women at all.

If there's something to be glad about in regards to Quinn & Rose, it's that they aren't on terrestrial radio, at least not in my market. Rush and Sean do enough damage to some of my folks as it is.

Have you been to their web site? It's "OMFG" bad. It's hard not to call them "Christofascist" when their motif is "The War Room" and they make it glaringly obvious with their speech that they envision an America that only has room for their kind of people.

Interesting that Rose, who I believe got her start on a "christian TV station" can say the things she does.

One thing to remember is that most of the loud people who call themselves "christian' aren't. I use the term "Pauline Yahwist" or abbreviate it as Xian. If you pay attention to their Biblical quotes, they are either Old Testament or the Epistles of Paul (and the other non-Gospels).
Rarely if ever is Jesus quoted from Matt,Mark,Luke or John, but the OT 'god of wrath' is a favorite (that is, only when it makes their point, never the laws they break/defy regularly - e.g. eating shellfish).
I did almost five years running these radio shows, Popoff, Swaggart, Falwell, Robertson, and more... which are either condemnations of anyone who disagrees with their personal theology (again, ignoring the actual Gospels) or begging for money (I think it was Kenneth Copeland who insisted he was shipping Bibles to the Soviet Union - yes, this was well before the Fall of the Wall) and needed more money.

Rose, indeed, proves herself to be a lying pig every time she falsely claims to be a follower of Christ.

I came across an article recently that said people who believe their God is a vengeful God are the ones that act out and condemn others. While those that believed their God is a forgiving God are more moderate and accepting.
