Glenn failed to remind everyone that public schools in Washigton DC and New york (not sure about CA) only have a 60% attendance anyway.

Fail again. I looked up some rates on NY City schools, and turns out, at least on the date that I have, attendance rate was: 91.08%.

          June 17 attendance

And attendance rates in DC are just as high, rolling in at 90% for 2007-2008.

          DC rates

Where did you make up your statistics from?

I did not think it was possible but the fringe right has gone right over the edge. If the Republican Party does not speak up about this then they have gone over the edge with them.

I heard Mr. Beck say in a recent show on Fox News that he "would like to share a personal story from today but it would put his family in danger"

This was pretty much the last straw for me and Mr. Beck, dancing around the fear of "They" or "Them". But this latest goes beyond the pale. Go ahead and grow a set Beck, say what you really want to say ... we have a N..... President, with a bunch of N..... advisors and it scares the hell out of me, but wait, I can make money off of this.

Yes, I do. I spent most of my life under Republican Presidents, most of whom I vehemently disagreed with, but I always remembered that they were the President. I was not even allowed to call Nixon a crook, even after he had resigned. My grandmother grabbed me and shook me, when I did. However, she sputtered and fumed whenever FDR was mentioned.

Clearly Glenn is threatened by both liberal ideas and education. He delights in finding no reason to even attempt to change our wasteful, polluting culture, which has already reached peak oil and I guess he must want to return to the days of a burning Cayahuga River, fish kills, and floating trash. He is younger than I am and may not remember how much we worked to clean up the rivers and lakes. And he may not have lived in cities large enough to have pollution indexes on the evening weather report. He preaches against Social Justice and then says good and decent people should join him and hold on to their values. Well, my church makes Social Justice a key value and education has always been one of my own values. What he is advocating is against both.

I think the LOGICAL response from an adult anti Obama- anti democrat would be for their children to stay in school and study/work hard because "knowledge is key" in having a successful country.

BUT NOOOOOOOOOO not these idiots! "Dont Go To School, That will show em!"

Does Glenn and his fellow crazies understand the impact they are having on their children- its a diservice to them and to America as a whole?

This really irks me because as an African American who has had family members in the deep south fight and claw their way just to be able to go to school...immigrants came to our country to work hard just so they give their children a decent education.

And to hear Beck and his RACIST fanbase advocate NOT sending kids to school because they dont like President Obama makes me both angry and sad! The MOST patriotic thing one can do in America is send their children to school so they can grow up and move America along in literature and the sciences.

Your mistake is thinking that a LOGICAL response is appropriate for these buffoons.

Despite everything they profess, we're not dealing with ideological adversaries, here. We're dealing with political adversaries. They're uninterested in debating the issues on the facts. They're interested only in R vs D, and any means necessary to win the contest are acceptable to them. The lies they've told during the healthcare discussion and the lies they told and supported during the Bush presidency, smearing of all things Democrat, the flip flops on what constitutes a patriot and the respect afforded the president, support for war - all are indications that facts don't matter. They've got their whole being tied up in being a Republican, and wearing that R on their forehead, and will do anything to avoid the appearance of supporting a party which is not good for America. Ironically, they'll unabashedly sacrifice everything they claim to support - patriotism, children, morals, chrisitanity, benevolence, education...

Unbelievable...! These parents are teaching their children to be disrespectful to the Presidency, because loonies like Glenn Beck tell them that Barack Obama is an evil revolutionary Marxist who is about to destroy America. I now believe that these people actually hate America...the one that exists in reality. Parents should be punished for keeping their kids out of school. This is just plain stupidity.

Ah, actually in some places, they do hold the parents accountable. Like, in a school district my brother used to work in. If a child was truant from school they would issue a bench warrant for the kid's parents, and they would be tossed into jail, and arraigned, and if found guilty, fined.

"Disrespectful to the President" - I think our children have seen quite enough of that over the past 8 years. Missing one day of school is not disrespectful to the President.

What they will miss is a political speech asking the elementary school children to "flush once", stop using bottled water and a number of other political goals of progressives scattered in with some good sense. The effort is blatantly political. Political speeches to elementary school children is disgusting.

And I actually agree that missing one day of school would not be disrespectful to the President. Frankly, you can go ahead and do this ridiculous PASS thing on your own time.

My concern is that it is disrespectful to the SCHOOL.

Teachers are underpaid and underappreciated for what they do. Principals try their best to keep children prepared for the future and for the opportunity to contribute back to society through volunteerism and work.

By holding back a student because of a speech from the President, the parent is showing that they have little respect for the school's ability to teach. By doing this on the first day of school, the parent is also developing a bad first impression with the school. If future trouble were to occur between the school and the student, there would be very difficult negotiations between the school and the parent.

Basically, if you are going to hold the student back the first day, you may as well hold him or her for the rest of the year.

Ya hear that kids? Glenn Beck thinks his irrational hatred of all things Obama is more important than your education.

Granted, you probably don't think much of your education at the moment, but let's consider Beck's education. Now, I don't have anything against those who only have a high school diploma, but what did Beck do after high school?

Education-wise, Sen. Joe Lieberman got him in to Yale on a special arrangement, where he took one class in theology, but dropped out mid-term. Probably due to the strain of his marriage problems, which would make it hard, wouldn't it? This according to wikipedia.

So, kids, when Beck says stay out of school, realize that you could aim for a higher trajectory than radio-DJ-to-paid-conservative-liar.
