Is it the Hair Bleach? I just don't know what to say about the hysteria I just saw!

Repubs have been running away from the abyss our students are falling into...and this is the response to the Administration daring to take a leading role in encouraging OUR YOUNG PEOPLE to a BETTER LIFE through EDUCATION!

      GREAT, JUST GREAT!

This conspiracy is the marriage of two fundamental conservative ideas:

Education is a liberal plot to deteriorate traditional values, and the myth that media can warp childrens' minds beyond their parents control, absolving them of accusations of negligence or poor parenting.

Let me state the obvious: the Reubs are manufacturing permanent outrage here. Every week it is something outrageously ridiculous. Don't think this type of trick doesn't work, either. It is easy to laugh this off as "stupid Republicans," but in the end they win the message war. Until we find a way to deal with this propaganda, we will continue to lose the message war.

You are right, it DOES work. My father, a formerly reasonable man, was nearly hysterical with me over the phone talking about how Obama is going to ruin everything. He even talked of buying ammo and moving to Texas.

This from a man that is retired and lives off a gov't pension, social security and has VA healthcare for free.

The message these crazies peddle IS working and it's scary!

It is working effectively...but IMO only on a small but vocal segment of the population. A weak-minded segment of the population, I might add, who, unfortunately are allowed to vote. Glenn Beck is revealing the stupid part of America for everyone to see...and it's a pretty disgusting sight. Personally, I've reached the point where I just make fun of these people to their face.

You don’t have a problem with it because Obama has the same political ideology as you...what if Bush tried this? Would you be ok with him talking to the young kids about conservative ideologies? Personally I don’t want either talking to our kids…leave politics out of the classroom...

"Stay in school" is a liberal ideology?

He's not trying to talk these kids into voting for the Obama girls in 2048 or a "Cash for Tricycles" program. He is trying to encourage kids to stay in school.

I think this document is what is getting the GOP's panties in a bunch. I think a lot of those against the speech are fingering this document and suggesting that this is the "indoctrination" part.

However, note the key word CAN in the document. "Teachers CAN ask students..." These are suggestions from the U.S. Department of Education regarding what the President is speaking about and the role of ALL U.S. elected officials from the federal to the local levels.

This isn't politics; this is social science. It is taught to students whether it is a Democratic, Republican, or Independent official.

I didn't have a problem with Reagan, Bush, or Clinton speaking to kids telling them to excel and stay in school, either.

Perhaps you can be the one to tell us why we should exhort our kids to slack off, fail, and drop out of school, and why that would be the best choice for them in order to achieve their goals in life.

He's a Democrat who won big and he happens to have dark skin and a funny name. The crud you are hearing on Fox is BULL hockey designed to scare you into hating Obama . . . textbook definition of terrorism.

I don't think Alan Colmes did a particularly good job. Simply mocking Crowley while she spouted her absolute nuttiness doesn't refute the claim. I'm sure within a few days polls will show that a significant number of Americans believe the President is giving some type of radical speech to our school children.

What's up with the facial expressions of women when there on with Laura Ingraham. This is the most racist thing that republican talk radio and tv has done.As much as they said yaeh Bill Cosby.Black people need to take responsibility. But when a black president say children stay in school, they have a problem with that.I say this is outrageous racist because white republicans are urged to keep their children home.So that means these people have a problem with the president telling minority and poor children to stay in school. It is not as simple as black and white. What you see here is economic warfar on the USA people.Racism is not as simple as it once was.Economic racism is used by the republicans to blur the lines and include peoples of all colors

Wow, it is so bad to have the President to come to a school to tell kids to do well in school. Run for the hills!!

No one blinked an eye when Bush visited a school to read to kids or Reason visiting a school.

I have no idea when this is going to stop. Every time Obama does something these nut jobs do their best to make people afraid of him for some reason. All they are running on is fear and hate. Its one thing to disagree with his policies but its completely another to get people so riled up that someone is going to do something stupid and kill the President. The guy will then say that Fox told him that Obama was going to kidnap his kid and put him into some Hitler youth group and teach him about socialism.

      These people have no shame!

      Fellow Matterers,

Imagine that, empowering our youth to learn. The President of the United States is addressing the children about learning. It is not about the color of his skin, but the fact that Republicans are not in charge. The radicals are the racist, O.K., some are in Congress. Any breath President Obama takes will be questioned. "Learn all you can," our president may say, and the right-wing calls for censorship. "An obscene and heinous gesture, that no child should witness," the plucked right-wing may retort.

Good things are coming, hide your love.

      It be it,

The President is giving a pep talk to school kids and these people are up in arms about it? What's wrong with conveying a sense of unity and the American value of hard work to these children. Noooo...the evil villain, Barack Obama, is trying to brain wash your children. This is complete and utter idiocy.

The bottom line, short and simple, is that these people REFUSE to accept Barack Obama as the President of the USA. What's next...if they don't like the Constitution they will ignore that, too? Where does it stop...?

Watch that Fox News or CNN newscaster. Besides dressing and putting on make-up like a prostitute (which in a way she is) she just reeks of insincerity. She doesn't care if she's telling the truth or not. All she cares about is her career and being on TV.She and thousands like her contaminate the airways on your TV nightly. They don't care about the truth. They only care about their job, and carrying on the facade that they are important. They are the lowest of the low. These are fake plastic people living in a make-believe plastic world. To expect them to tell the truth is like expecting men to bear children, it's not going to happen!

These hateful Republicans are out of their cotton-picking minds. What they are doing is inciting people or a person to act on their hate. It is clear they want someone, anyone to assassinate this president. This explains why they are not willing to wait for the next election. They want Obama out NOW. Have you ever heard of anyone treating a president as though he can't do anything right, even though he won the election by a wide margin? These Republicans talking heads are irresponsible and dangerous.
God forbid, if something were to happen to Obama, all of these imbeciles will act like they don't know why anyone would want to hurt Obama.

God forbid anything happens to Obama because the Republicans might find themselves in even worse shape.

When JFK died, LBJ--a man with years of experience in the Senate--became president. His mission in those early years (before everything went to hell) was the kind of sweeping legislative changes that only a true veteran of the Senate can manage.

Maybe Biden likes to taste his own foot from time to time, but he's also a highly experienced legislator and should anything happen to Obama, he's the next in line.

To all those morons secretly wishing bad things on Obama... careful what you wish for.

Do you really think Glenn Beck or O'Reilly or Ingraham or Hannity or Limbaugh would shed one tear over being responsible for drumming up any hate that led to an attempt on Obama's life? No, in private they'd cheer victory, but in public they'd put on a false face of sympathy. They want it to happen, it's why they are doing all of this. The more hate they drum up the higher their ratings the more money the earn from advertisers the more money they make on book deals and book sales, etc. It's a golden period for them - they weren't banking under Bush like they are now.

People shouldn't listen to what Laura Ingraham says because she lies to herself. I remember when she had a woman on the show and talking about the Miss California incident and the other woman on the show said to Laura that Miss California should pay more for a heart transplant instead of a breast job. Laura ridiculed her and said a woman should be proud to speak her mind and never talked about by other women. NOW Laura is saying that when she did the same thing to Megan McCain! Again we should believe Laura Ingraham. The other woman on this show was just a cheerleader and Alan Colmes was caught in between the nagging. SMH!

First: Obama "overexposed"!? He is the President. That does tend to get you on the news once in awhile.
Second: The Obama administration "surreal" and "Orwellian"? These two ladies with the Death Panels and other conservative lies have already cornered the market in these areas.
Third: Studying history and current events, particularly our first Black President, should be be part of the curriculum.
Fourth: Yes, children shouted "Obama! Obama!" during the election. Many were African-American who were seeing what they could accomplish in America (if they did not cut classes for insane reasons). I suppose, Ms. Crowley, it is better that young children carry signs equating Obama to Hitler.
Fifth: Using a whole unit of a school day!? You know that Halloween parade every year (my kids did look cute though, I got pictures), that all afternoon Christmas party with the candy and cookies, and that great educational video "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer", and some really strange field trips (I recall that at one time Burger King and McDonald's let schoolkids "tour" their kitchens. Now that is indoctrination!) is a great use of school time. Good Lord! The man is PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES! If he wants to give pep talk to students on the first day of school, let him. It's not as if it is manadatory. Schools can choose not to show the speech if they choose.

There's more, but I can't watch this again.
