      Mark Fuhrman?
Seriously, they wheel out this idiot to talk about health care?
The only thing I want to hear from this moron is how it feels to be a disgraced cop. Go back to Idaho.

If memory serves me correctly ,VA hospitals were allowed to fall into direpair during the Bush adminstration. And it was Bush who opposed the last GI bill. Where were Mark Fuhrman and Sean Hannity then?

Oh, and when I want an opinion about anything I'll take practically anybody else's over that of a disgraced racist cop.

The GI bill Bush apposed was apposed by everyone in the military leadership because it was going to destroy retention, which would cause longer deployments for people who did stay in. Everyone worked and came up with another GI bill change that is great, and doesn’t hurt retention. It went into affect this fall.

The GI bill was not instituted to insure retention. If they want to insure retention, stop squandering our military in pointless wars.

Actually its the same GI Bill, and it would have litle effect on retention. Most individuals that would have gotten out, would have done so regardless of the GI Bill. However, it should be the goal to provide solid education to anyone who can meet academic requirments. Our nation would be better for it and its a nice way to say thank you to our troops.

While I feel that Mr. Fuhrman may be considered, on the basis of his own history, as an expert on 'total failure', in this case I'm gonna get a second opinion.

Too bad this loser, stripped of his badge, still can't get his facts straght. Walter Reedd is not a VA hospital.....its an Army Hospital and yes there is a difference.....It was thwe Republicans of the last 8 yeras who put those Combat Vets in those horrid hospital conditions at the Military Hospitals and the Republicans who cut the funding to the VA

And it was the GOP that opposed getting adequate body and vehicle armor for the troops, thus insuring that their injuries would be more severe, requiring hospitalization in the very facilities the GOP voted not to repair.

I don't see any bias in this video. The VA hospitals are not exactly top notch facilities and Medicare is unsustainable, especially if the old continue to outnumber the young in years to come.

Medicare is unsustainable in its present form because the Bush Admnistration rammed through a prescription drug coverage that wasn't funded by new revenue sources.

Tom DeLay, against all House rules, keep the vote open for hours as he browbeat Representatives into voting for it. Ole BlunderRush would say he threatened them with kneecapping. If he'd been a Democrat, of course...

        >>Medicare is unsustainable,

It is only unsustainable if the government continues to underfund it. Otherwise, it is a great program.

And Mark Furman is a czsar now because what? I thought areas of criminology was his strong hold since he was employed in the field and displayed the behaviors of one. It would be better for him to address the hate mongers and racist which he has insight into. Don't brain up because he is and never will be anything more than the guy who aided in the exoneration of OJ.

The VA system does suck, from personal experience. The system sucks when your not even a Vet and still on active duty (Walter Reed). And it has sucked for more the "the last 8 years". Trauma care is the best in the world. Preventive care and regular check ups suck for service members and their families. It's operated for the most part by a great bunch of hard working people who try to there best with the undercut budgets and horible management provided to them. The people in charge care more about how much treatments cost than who they are treating.

Right. The main problem is funding and it is usually the Reps who want to cut funding to both of these programs.

All the soldiers that I work with on a daily basis get good health care as well, I've asked them about it since this "debate" has been going on.

Also, the retired soldiers that I work with also say they get great care from the VA.

Another example, my grandfather passed away this past Spring, WWII vet, he had been in a VA home for pretty much the last 6 years or so, and he received hands down the BEST care that I've ever seen right up until he passed away. When he did pass away, all of the nurses and other folks who had been watching over him for years were in the room with him, and my family, holding his hand, and watching him go.

Best group of people I've ever seen.

It amazes me how these morons cant distinguish hospitals and doctors, from health insurance. Then again, i would like to see one of their typical conservative mental breakdowns when somebody finally explains it to them. And i wouldnt be able to see that if they at least had the intelligence of say, some kind of river fish.

"Why don't we get him to say VA and Medicare are complete failures?" "Fine by me but shouldn't we explain to him what VA and Medicare are before he goes on Hannity?" "Good idea and why don't we have him come on in black face as a joke - Hannity will love it!"

The scandalous VA hospital conditions are a Bush/Cheney legacy. Soldiers good enough to be wounded for their country made the mistake of coming home alive with medical problems. Too much money, said Bush/Cheney. Can't afford it. A lie they learned from their buddies in the health insurance industry.

Having Mark Fuhrman on was a brilliant stroke on FOX's part, though. I mean, who better to tell a big whopping pack of lies than a convicted perjurer? When it comes to lying, you're much better off with an expert in the field!

You know we've really got them on the run with this issue, they know how a majority of Americans feel about this, and that's what's behind these Foxes desperate and loud and constant rhetoric on this issue... it's a good measure of how weak their position is, by how hard they're working to defend it... and I'm glad to see so few people taking the 'torture' bait being held out right now (notice how not only Dick Cheney but his daughter suddenly thrust themselves back into the spotlight), that's intentional and well-timed, and is meant purely to distract you in your efforts regarding Public Health Insurance.

We're at a tipping point right now, and it's no time to ease up or be distracted.

OJ is in jail now. No thanks to Furman though. It's funny they bring someone on whose one claim to fame is that he screwed up an investigation that looked to be a slam dunk so bad that they couldn't get a conviction. And we're supposed to listen to him about anything?

Isn't Fuhrman famous solely for having had a recording of him using the n-word profusely played back to him in court after he claimed he never used it?

But, if I'm not mistaken, isn't Walter Reed Hospital administered by the Department of Defense, not the Department of Veteran's Affairs.

Yup... I was correct. Walter Reed Army Medical Center is part of the Department of Defense, not the Department of Veterans' Affairs.

Funny, how loathe "conservatives" such as this are to acknowledge a failure in the Defense Department.

Do you want a VA hospital that is better than most other hospitals? I suggest you look at the Palo Alto VA Health Care System.

In any case, the hospital with all the mold and rats was not a VA facility. It was Waslter Reed, which is an Army Medical facility. These guys are not only wrong, they don't even know what they are talking about.

I interned this summer at one of Jim Webb's satellite offices. I got a bunch of calls about health care. Many of them were saying, "I don't want this socialized medicine to go through, and I don't want to lose my Medicare". Well, there isn't much to say about that that hasn't already been said.

But this one lady called me and and said that the Veterans Health care she got sucked, and that she used it for "29 years". Really, it sucks soooooooo bad, yet you used it for 29 years? If it was so bad, why not go that private health insurance that you like so much during that time, eh?

The VA and Medicare would actually be better off if managed by the military hospitals for active duty and dependents. There is a wait time issue every once in a while (usually because a Doc is deployed and certain specialties may be short because of it), but all care and procedures are covered. Having had both military and civilian care plans, I would go with military every time.
