In 1860, the Southern states seceded "from the Union", of which they were a soverign part.

In 1776, the colonies did not secede, they declared their independence from their Soverign - the King. The colonies had no rights under the King. There was nothing from which to secede. That's a big difference, unless one simply wants to be sloppy.

How will we ever have a rational discussion about anything, when those in the written word don't maintain any standards.

8 years ago this would have been considered treason and you would have been labeled a terrorist. But now its ok to talk about secession and taking over governments while calling for the President to die.
