So then this is a matter of how much more heat the democrats are willing to take for this foolish change of an individual's relationship with the government?

Then democrats fight amongst yourselves and decide if this what you want....and face the consequences.

Here's a little known fact. The language that you are using to communicate your message was once considered vulgar and the tongue of commoners. Vatican Priests were actually forbidden to speak it, as the language was considered that of the illiterate. However, in 1348 everything changed, when a boat docked with an extra few rats, who were carrying a pesky little parasite. The resulting plague wiped out nearly 25 to 33% of the population, including half of the Latin speaking clergy, who often lived in very close quarters and were the ones who attended to the sick and dying, which resulted in exposing themselves to the plague.

Suddenly there was a void. Parishoners were crying out for service and there were not enough Latin speaking Clergy to fill the need, so they turned to the "less literate" English speaking clergy to fill what was missing, and English speaking service spread like wild fire. It prevented the fading of the Christian religion and actally ensured the Catholic churches dominance in the world's religions in the future.

Now the English language is one of the most dominant languages on the planet, and is considered the language of "Technology and Commerce."

We are greater than the sum of our parts, PC. You are correct when you say that actions have consequences; but, so do inactions. History will determine who was right or wrong.

Why would we ever give a minority of voters the power to defeat a majority of voters?

How undemocratic and backward is that?

Under such a dopey undemocratic hurdle as that, we'd never have a President of the United States, for his or her inability to capture 60% of the vote, despite having the support of a majority of the voters...

The minority of voters would stop every election, if they had the crazy power to over-rule the majority.

And of course, not only does the U.S. Senate's strange Rule 22 (that empowers a two fifths minority of Senators to stop the other three fifths majority), not only does it defeat a majority of the U.S. Senate, it defeats a majority of the House of Representaives too!

Because anything a majority of the House passes gets sopped also, by this strange minority of U.S. Senators with their strange Rule 22 power!

We could have unanimity in the House, all 435 members behind a Bill, and yet a minority of the Senate stops all of them and all Congressional business, just because they feel like it...

That's a strange corruption of Democracy if I've ever heard of one.

It's what the Budget Reconciliation Process is supposed to address, and thank goodness for it.

At least Fox News is using the right definition of reconciliation for once. Took long enough for this to happen.

The only thing keeping this disaster from happening, is the recognition that making obamacare law would certainly be the end of today's democratic party.

The fight for this is not with republicans, but within the democratic party. If this were such a great thing, the politicians would be on this like white on rice. Create whatever disaster you want and either sink or swim as a party.

Right. It couldn't possibly be the immensely deep pockets of big insurance / big pharma giving money to Reps and Dems alike to ensure that real health care reform, the kind that will hurt their record profits, never gets passed.

Then shut up and tell your party to pass this!! Tell them to be there for what you want and voted for, a progressive agenda. What is the hold up?

We both know what the hold up is. There are bought Dems as well, enough to stall things so the GOP noise machine can shriek shriek shriek trying to kill it entirely. The hold up is elected officials more beholden to donors than they are to constituents, who overwhelmingly want a public option now.

I disagree with your assessment of the numbers who want a public option. But, your reaction to the legislators now in place is very similar to what happened to the republicans in 06. They forgot who put them there and soon were out of power.

That is why I encourage democratic legislators to stand up, if this is such a winner.

Republicans forgot who put them in power in 2006 means diddly.
Eventually, enough representatives will stand up.
However, my felling is, you will still claim victory and say Democrats lost because some common sense compromise took place.
Just like the President's remarks to school children.
