      Sounds so 1950's.

Joe McCarthy, if he were still alive, would be proud. I'm sure there is a "list" somewhere of the so called liberal commies who are installed into our government and all.

When do the House hearings start anyway?

Just because the democrats won this election does not give them the right to trash the bill of rights or constitution. These people SERVE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES NOT, lobbyists, special interest groups OR ILLEGAL ALIENS just the people of the united states.

And are you serious about not serving lobbyists?!? The Dems aren't blameless, but it's the freakin' GOP that have made an artform out of lining their pockets from the corporate world.

I disagreed with many presidents including Bush on many things. They also disregarded many of the items, spending money we as a country did not have, these czars I can not find any where that is above board. The czars are unelected people who wield great influence.

To begin with there is nothing that mandates health care for everyone and to have these elected officials say it is a right not a privilege is crazy.

Having the government assist in the purchasing of a industrial business- that doesn't seem to be legit.

The government was to to small and unobtrusive yet over the last 60 years it has gotten huge. The elected officials provide NO REPRESENTATION THROUGH TAXATION they are all sell outs to the highest bidder.

We are to be protected by both foreign and domestic threats yet the elected officials are holding the people hostage and selling us out to the lobbyist.

            Your thoughts please

Just because the Constitution doesn't mandate health care, it doesn't mean that it shouldn't be a right. The Constitution doesn't mandate the Post Office, but we have that.

Yeah yeah, I know you're going to counter by saying that you don't even like the Post Office and that you think the Post Office sucks anyways. But if you feel that you don't have a right to receive letters and packages addressed to you or your business, that's fine with me. Me? I'll gladly send a letter form the SE tip of Florida to the NW tip of Alaska for 45ยข.

By the way, do I want health care to be run like the post office and the DMV? Yes, I do.

The Constitution doesn't mandate that recreational marijuana is illegal, but it is.

I don't disagree with you about the lobbyist part: health insurance, AIPAC, tobacco, firearms, the evangelicals. Yeah, you're about being sold out to lobbyists. Both parties are guilty at that.

Is every single person in the government bureacracy supposed to be elected or confirmed by elected officials? They're called "advisors". It's only NOW that conservatives/libertarians are upset about it. It's only NOW that conservatives/libertarians are upset about the deficit (and actually BELIEVE that it started under Obama). It's only NOW that they think that filibusters are cool.

Look, as a Texan, it truly scares me to hear my Govenor speak in such a glib way about secession. I have heard "secession" speech pretty much my whole life. It's almost a mark of being a Texan that some of us have to brag about a fantasy of becoming an Independent Nation.

I ask that you take a look at the Election Map of Texas for 2008 and pay close attention to the counties that are in blue. Those are many of the major metropolitan areas. Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso. Over three and a half million people who voted for Obama, and the change that we so desperately wish for, living here in Texas. In all of those districts there was sweeping changes in City Councils and many Republican judges were replaced by Democratic judges.

Blind, religious driven, conservatism runs deep here. For some, it is their very identity. It is difficult, sometimes, to be a liberal living in the heart of ultra right wing conservativeland.

I simply ask that you not give up on us just yet.

Wouldn't dream on giving up on Texas, rkallen09, and it's nice to hear from a Texan who is a bit more liberal! It's very easy to paint a state, or an entire region, with a wide brush and miss all the diversity and difference in a hasty rush to judgment. Thanks for the reminder :)

Don't you give up on us, either. Most Americans I think would rather Texas not secede. As a Midwesterner, I certainly wouldn't. I also take a certain amount of joy in pointing out that George W. Bush is actually a Yankee, and not a Texan at all. He just lives there.

I hope you know there are people in the rest of the country who know there is more to Texas than a fringe population who advocates secession. Again, glad to hear from you!

I lived in Texas for 10 years. I love that place. It does get a bad rap. It's a great place to live for the most part. No doubt that state has some of the most radical righties on the face of the planet, but it does get balanced about with many deep blue pockets of common sense.

This was actually pretty mild for Waco, Texas. I grew up on a cotton farm outside of Waco and stayed in the area until I was old enough to leave. Waco is in a time warp, always has been and always will be. The rational to irrational difference is weighted pretty heavily on the irrational end of the scale. I saw an article in the paper about this stop in Waco and one person interviewed said they "did not have any health insurance but they were there protesting because they did not want the government involved in health care" As we used to say when I was a kid growing up .... "that is so waco"

The John Wayne impersonator didn't have his history straight. The real John Wayne is the one who made the famous point about President Kennedy: I didn't vote for him, but he's still my President, and I hope he does a good job.

Obama is describe as a communist, a socialist, a fascist and a nazi as if the terms are interchangeable. Socialism and communism are not poltical systems, but rather are economic systrems which can thrive democratic political systems.

These words are not used in a factual, or historical sense. They are used for their emotional impact and to pander to people's fears. Rush, Hannity, Beck, etal. don't care about such intellectual distinctions.

I ran into many John Wayne types when I was young. I'm the son of a WWII vet and most of my uncles were also vets. None of them was that type. All were very concerned that their sons might eventually fight in a questionable war that didn't seem justified to them.

The only thing the John Wayne types had in common was their own lack of participation in serving their country and their insistence that other people's sons should risk everything fighting the war they supported.

None had draft age sons, so it was easy to talk. They became quite good at it.

Kind of like the John Wayne types we see and hear today. Rush, O'Reilly, Hannity, Beck.

Why did the camera angle stay so low?

Could it be the crowd wasn't that big?

Why did the camera angle stay so low?
The reporter was short. Always match short reporters with shorter camera operator, that way the reporter looks taller. If you can't find a camera operator short enough, get a box, have reporter stand on box, only take head and shoulder shots.

And, thank you for that statement about the communists.

It now confirms the right is clinging to McCarthy-era tactics again.

        Was there ever a doubt?
Just look at the old film clips of McCarthy, ranting to the crowd, shaking a manila envelope full of "proof" of someones communist sympathies. The "proof" is never presented, the person being ranted against has his name and reputation ruined.
