Yep, and we done nothing about tort reform, HSAs, portability of policies, more competition in the insurance industry, uniformity in billing procedures, etc. Listened to David Axlerod this afternoon tell us about health insurance being a State issue and that's why there is so little competion in some states, that is why there can't be more competition in those States, that the Feds basically can't do anything about that. And yet they are still talking about a public option that will be nationwide. Something makes little sense here (besides my rant ;>)).

Yeah, yeah, tort is 1-5% of the total, but the fear of lawsuits leads to how much extra testing, etc? And if we ignore the 1-5% because it's such a small amount on several different items, the savings does grow.
HSA a tax cut for the rich? Even if there were a way to credit HSA $ to the lower income people? Don't follow your thinking here. If everybody were able to contribute pre-tax $ (with subsidies for the few) that could be used for PM (preventive maintenance) with a high deductible insurance policy for hospitalization, etc. Let the money grow and if not used for health, could become a supplement to SS in about 30 years when SS benefits may be cut 25%. Limit the amount of HSA contributions to $1000-2000 per individual.
Make Health Insurance premiums deductible for all, not just companies that use it for a benefit.
Ah, what the heck, I'm eligible for Medicare in the near future, let my kids and grandkids fend for themselves.

Obama's speech is wrapping up, it was another home run! Loved watching boehner sit and squirm while he did everything in his power to refuse to clap. Having said that, what will tomorrow bring?

      1. Obama brought up ted kennedy, therefore the reich will claim he's trying to name this overhaul after ted and he's trying to get sympathy votes.

      2. Obama mentioned republican concerns and suggested a pilot program that bush actually suggested. He also said his door is open and he'll listen to any republican ideas but will not entertain more of republicans killing healthcare reform for political reasons. Therefore the reich will claim that Obama doesn't want to work with republicans to get reform, and that he is trying to work outside the system to force some kind of illegal reform down the country's throats.
