I think the conservative movement has gone a bit bipolar. There is a desperate love for a long lost imaginary America of yesterday, coupled with a deep and abiding hatred of 'the other', personified in our President and the change he hopes to bring to this country.

That the changes are necessary is irrelevant. That the President is truly a citizen is disputed, along with the statehood of Hawaii. That emotion must always triumph over reason seems to have become a cause celebre. In just a couple of short months, governors who identify with the minority party have declared their willingness to secede from the union. They are willing to work against their best interests, becoming pawns for a decadent and murderous industry that grows wealthier every day they manage to delay any kind of reasonable discussion on health coverage policy. They protest against a tax hike imposed on their bosses, apparently unaware or uncaring that it will benefit them. And, when the President tells kids to stay in school and work hard, they keep their own kids home to avoid 'indoctrination'.

no. it sold its soul. everything barry goldwater said would happen, did happen. they became religious fanatics and holier than thou nut cases. believing it was our divine mandate and right that we must overthrow governments and force our ideas on them, scream family values and yell for other politicians to resign but when they themselves get caught doing the very thing they railed against. no one has the right to call for them to resign.

their only interest is in perpetuating their own power. they cannot bring themselves to understand that there is more to public life than being elected and staying in power. they don't nor will ever understand that they serve us, the people, and not corporations and lobbyists that fill their pockets when they do what they are told to. it is disgusting to me, being a republican myself, that my party's values have been sold for that of lunacy and for playing to those with the most money. Lincoln would be rolling in his grave. as would Theodore Roosevelt. but god knows that ill get called a RINO and TR will be branded a closet democrat. and that is the sad state of affairs that is neo conservatism today. god help us all if they gain back congress and the white house

And the daily temper tantrums demonstrate the loss of maturity in conservatism...
