I can't buy that having Glenn Beck on Fox is ruining Ailes reputation. It IS his reputation.

Ailes allows Beck on Fox because it results in money. And I know Ailes isn't stupid. He recognizes how people like Beck, Hannity, Hume, etc. direct the mood of a segment of American society, so the only conclusion is that he's willing to sacrifice reasoned and factual information for the promise of more money. THAT is Ailes well-deserved reputation, and loving America is not an element of it.

      Ah. Refreshing.

Finally, the media is making the connection of the Republican politicians whipping up the right-wing extremists at the tea parties.

      Sound familiar?

Keep it up. This will get a lot of traction.

I want all these tea baggers & Beck to explain what exactly the connection was between that gathering on Saturday and 9/11. Beck generally loses the plot, but this was ridiculous.

        Plot? There's a plot?

Oh, you mean Beck's claim that the liberals are plotting to make this country socialist / communist / fascist? ;-)

i guess the plot is hating the president and trying to prove he is a racist and hires communists who think 9/11 was an inside job, many of which arent even true.

What a tremendously degraded state our "media" is in...

I really wonder if our democracy can survive this kind of dimwit (Beck) onslaught.

I mean, let's talk turkey. About 25% of the American people are some of the stupidest, most ignorant jackasses on the face of the earth.

This country--with the media's help--has got the stupids.

Not enough serum could ever be manufactured.

Since this march was about getting everyone out of Washington, could someone direct me to a sign that is anti any Republican? Why weren't the Republican politicians that spoke shouted off the stage?

Ron White said, and I firmly believe this, "You cannot fix stupid." This is most obviously true of those who deliberately choose to be stupid. I'm not saying it's easy to change my mind, but my opinions do change over time, I find. In my early twenties, I was a fan of anarchism, and spent several years trying philosophically to justify it. Too bad it doesn't seem to work. I am also a believer in collectivism, though only at a local level, and only in moderation. You can see an inversion of this idea at your local Sam's Club or Farmer's Market.

But these people seem to make up their minds before any thought at all has a chance to penetrate. Someone told them there are death panels in the bill (the proposed legislation: I know, I know), and they immediately make placards and go marching. It's nuts.

My biggest doubts are about how we're going to pay for it. I've heard talk of rationing, which I don't believe, since the people who will soon be covered are already cared for by the health care system. They just tend to go only to the emergency room, which is one of the most expensive ways to get care. And I know efficiency and competition will help reduce costs somewhat, especially if there is a public option to keep the private insurers honest. But even granting that's a fourth of the total, which seems generous without being ridiculous, that leaves quite a bit to pay for. Thirty or forty million people, suddenly having insurance. I'm sure much keener minds than mine have thought about this, but the truth is, all the yelling and stupidity are getting in the way of my getting a coherent, and researched, and fact based answer.

            And I think that's a shame.

Stupid people probably make some of the best consumers, the engine of our economy. They may not have a lot of money but they have economies of scale. Too tantalizing for the media to pass up.

I wrote this to WGN tonight. Not everyone has cable and FOX is running rampant. I hope Chicago won't let US down.

OK CHICAGO LET'S MAKE SOME REAL NEWS!!!!!
FOX needs to be held accountable for the poison they are spreading. These Republican Politicians should not be getting the airtime they have been. We VOTED for PROGRESS & CHANGE from their obscene greed and callousness towards US-"ordinary" people without "privilege”. How about EVERY time a politician speaks against Health or Financial or ANY KIND OF REFORM you scroll along the bottom how much money they have taken from that SPECIAL INTEREST? That 99% of the time means the average citizen no darn good, Show EVERYONE who they are "working for" REALLY, now they are in D.C.because it's not the people who "hired" them to look out for their best interests...it's all about the money from "SPECIAL INTERESTS” Why isn't this illegal? Imagine it, watching all those cockroaches scuttle when the "light" is switched on. TRUTH can be far more entertaining than the traitorous anti- American, racist garbage FOX is poisoning our Country with. C'mon Chicago! Let's do the right thing! Not their "right thing" , SOMEBODY has to get the TRUTH out to those Americans who don't have cable. All that hate and fear is going to, if we don't stand up to it, all those FOX ZOMBIES will surely bring this Country to such a cruel and ignorant end.
That reminds me, that "C" Street "FAMILY" -Christian Mafia- THOSE guys are REALLY DANGEROUS! Something MUST be done about them. They are funneling TAX Dollars to build Mega Churches on Army bases! That! Is NOT correct at all! & It’s tax-free???
We need to start making churches pay taxes when they have nothing to do with teaching the "Golden Rule".
Here, now in Chicago, fight back against their racism, their evil. WGN HAS THE POWER- The Tribune has the power. You can go toe to toe with FOX & shoot down every lie. It is your duty! Where is a House of UN American Activities when we REALLY NEED ONE??? They are talking violent revolution against our President! Isn't that TREASON??? How far does it have to go till something? Awful... Look, I'm a white “Boomer” and my Dad was a UPI photo-newsman & I grew up at UPI Boston, seeing all those stories coming in, and so little going out to the public... I was too young to vote then, I was so happy I lived long enough to vote for President Obama. HELP HIM. What sort of a Country do you want?

You owe the public the TRUTH.

I had to try, Like my Dad always said" If you don't ask, the answer is always 'no""

Do YOU like the way things are going?

Please think about it. PLEASE TRY.

very well put by howard fineman. he is definitely one of the best legitimate journalists out there, and newsweek, in general, is awesome, too. that is why he is on msnbc and not fox news. fox's idea of a journalist is dick morris, laura ingraham and bernard goldberg... all discredited hacks.

and clerance page, who i also like, in the next segment also pointed out that he did a poll which showed that majority of those teabaggers and protesters dont even know what socialism is, and just claiming that its bad and evil. just as i expected from those nutjobs.

I agree. Fineman makes an excellent point. The post-9/11/01 spirit was not present last Saturday. For Beck to shamelessly label these divisive, angry events "9/12" is really a disgrace.

Fineman was "spot on" with his analysis of Beck and truly said it in a way that was not acutely offensive. He also put another dagger into the heart of Fox. I believe Fox news has run off the rails since their is no clear voice in the GOP. Dick Armey? I do not know who is a bigger joke; him or Mike Williams. Newt has retained some class in his egotistical sort of way.

      Amen, Howard.

Beck doesn't care about any of the nonsense he's shoveling. It's strictly about keeping the low information folks tuned in so he can line his own pockets.
