      Rep. Joe Wilson should have apologized and FoxNews Channel should "NOT" protect him - period. Tonight on MSNBC's Countdown, Lawrence O'Donnell made a point that maybe a breath alyzer should be taken of Congress before a President speaks. LOL.

      And you know, this could be the reason as to why Rep. Wilson was so disrespectful to Pres. Obama last week. Hmmm, just a mess.

      Its just tacky, period. I'll concede Clinton was tacky. We don't want Tacky in our houses of leadership, period. Wilson sounded like a kid. But if people want to rally around a punk candidate, good luck. Didn't work for Palin. Won't work again.

        After 1994 and Dems. lost of both houses Clinton moved to the center and disappointed the progressives in his party, it was not his tackness. By the way never lose an opportunity to slam Palin.

        I have to respectfully disagree with you. Juan is usually the only voice of reason on the shows he joins. I've seen him slap down Crystal and the other 4 on the panel on a weekly basis...This coming from someone that rather swim in a shark tank with pork chop underwear then watch Faux news.

      Democrats and the population in general had every right and many reasons to question the legitimacy of George W. Bush after the 2000 Election. The Presidency of the United States was handed to him by the Supreme Court of the United States. Five unelected Justices stopped the lawful counting of votes in Florida, which would have shown that Al Gore won the state and the White House, and they knew it. There was a media consortium recount which was supposed to be released in the fall of 2001 but was delayed and then barely covered due the tragedy of 9/11. It showed that even under the vote-counting standards most favorable to Governor Bush, Vice-President Gore still won the state of Florida and therefore the Presidency.

      These disturbed neanderthals are saying that Obama is illegitimate because of ridiculous nonsense like the thing about his birth certificate or they're saying that he's a Muslim or a Marxist agent or something idiocy like that. There's no comparison there. It's an idiotic statement to make, although it's certainly not surprising given Bret Baier's track record.

      THANK YOU.

        Totally agree. Another false equivalence that could have been knocked down, but Williams didn't. Questioning legitimacy based on very bad electoral and court process, and the facts that existed at the time, is VERY different from questioning legitimacy based on phony birth certificates, race, etc.

        Finally, he missed one more false equivalence: Obama was NOT lying about the provisions of the proposed health care bill. Criticizing Bush about actions he really did take (or fail to take) is a very different matter.

        It's not JUST that Wilson was rude and/or disrespectful and/or racist in feeling ok about shouting out during a joint session of Congress, which I don't believe happened during Bush's administration.

        It looks as though you fell for the 'hanging chad' and 'dimpled chad' and 'we think this voter really meant to vote for Gore but was confused' routine. The Florida recount in 2000 was an exhaustive attempt to FALSIFY votes based on a nebulous claim of voter 'intent'. It didn't work. However, if it had, we wouldn't be plagued with anthropogenic global warming. ;>}

          Actually, the recount was incomplete and inaccurate due to the intervention of five unelected Supreme Court Justices who were appointed by Republican Presidents. Republicans and conservatives always talk about "unelected judges" interfering in people's lives or making laws, yet they don't seem to mind these unelected judges handing the White House to George W. Bush by intervening in the lawful counting of votes in the state of Florida. Oh, and by the way, there's Teri Schiavo as well. Perhaps the biggest case ever of Republican and conservative hypocrisy in the history of humankind.

          THANK YOU.

      If racial subtext and sensitivity is a legitimate inquiry for Joe Wilson (and it is), then racial subtext and sensitivity is a legitimate inquiry for the Belleville bus attack -- and, though I've search this site at length, I can' find any strand of consensus on the latter proposition. As rational citizens, we cannot choose, based on political loyalties, to find racial subtext only where it advances our particular argument(s), or props up those leaders with whom we agree.

      One thing that really bothers me about all the "You lie!" flack is that no one seems to be reporting weather or not President Obama was lying or not when he stated that, "There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false – the reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally."

      All the reports I have seen focus on Wilson's breach of decorum or hint at underlying racism, but the fact of the matter is Section 246 of HR 3200 is entitled "No Federal Payment For Undocumented Aliens" (page 143 of HR 3200). So President Obama did NOT lie and the media (mainstream of otherwise) does not seem to be mentioning this.
