Unlike what FOX NEWS, CNN and to some extent MSNBC have been doing, the actual words spoken by President Carter should be reviewed with every discussion of his comments.

At the very beginning of his comments, he said “I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man…”

The key phrase here is “…overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity …”

When translated from Carterese to every-day English, it comes out “most of the whacko nut-job screamers” and I’m quite sure Carter was focusing on a specific sub-group of Obama haters.

I can see where “overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity” doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, but since I first heard President Carter’s comments, I have seen his words paraphrased into distortions like “Jimmy Carter says that most people who don’t like Barack Obama are racists.”

One of my favorite lines in Rush Hour was Chris Tucker’s: “Do you understand the words comin’ out of my mouth?”

I'm torn. It's true what you say about Carter. But Rush limpaugh used an anal anomaly to get out of military service in the 60's, and often narrates his familiarity with the procedures necessary to expose one's rectum for unauthorized entry. So when a man with that kind of experience speaks, I think we should take some truth to HIS statement too.

Could it be that Rush knows the cure, but has misdiagnosed the problem? What a dilemma...
