Today I was thinking back to how things were during the Bush years. How Bush vowed to keep us safe from terrorists.

And you know what? Maybe he really was keeping us safe... we just thought he was referring to the terrorists in the middle east.

What he never made clear was that he was protecting us from the right-wing terrorists in our own country that came out of the woodwork as soon as he left office.

You got that straight! I made a bumper sticker "Who Needs Islamic Terrorists?
We have Republicans!" They are doing a real fine job. TREASONOUS tools!

If there is so much "racism" going on in this country, why is the American President an African American and why does every news channel have these talking-heads like Roland Martin (who just happen to be African American). Hmmm... 14% of the population...

Zamfir, every country has it's share of racists, from fearfull fools to hardcore-believers. The important question is, how you, you as a person
and you as a society, deals with them.

The fools, the anxious people, who are afraid of loosing job, status or what they feel as "influence" can be dealt with by simply adressing the facts, the false facts, that are put out by the hardcore-believers.
That#s the job of the media, the politicians and the society at large.

The real racists need to be talked to diffently: They poison the society on purpose. They must be exposed so they do not gain influence. At worst they must be talked about, not to.
That is what this website is about, too, isn't it?

"Talking-heads" like Roland Martin have one thing, you will never accomplish: The knowlegde, that grows out of experience, what racism is, in what pants and dresses it comes. Like observing their colour before the content of what they say.

Hmmm... 14 % of the polulation - your guess how many racist there are in US? Sounds not too wrong. Where would you see yourself?

Zammy, nobody is saying that most Americans are racist. The inconvenient truth is that these Teabaggers, a small, obnoxious hick minority, are getting all the media attention. They are the ones creating the problems. With the help of the Corporate Whores in the media, they've managed to drag down Obama's approval numbers among the uninformed "independents".

        No big mystery here.

You sir, are an idiot. But most of us knew this already, and I don't normally sling around insults against other posters, regardless of their positions, or opinions, but I'll make an exception for you.

You think racism is dead in this country because we've had one black president out of the total of 44? Yeah, OK, and I have a bridge to sell you in New York as well.

And Roland Martin, one black man on CNN doesn't really make up for the lack of black people on TV.

But then again, your past postings (as someone else has pointed out yesterday I believe) are pretty racist anyway, so we know where you're coming from.

        Ah, another simpleton!

My mom is a mild form of racist in that she voted for Obama, but still can't always see herself trusting the average black person around her, she does not say bad things about them from up close, but sometimes falls for the stereotypes associated with inner city blacks.

This is a result of her upbringing and not some personal hatred as she does have a few black friends. It is unfortunate she feels that way, but I still love her and her blacks friends, whom I have all met, know that my mom is not a bad person either.

My mom, when I asked her why she voted for Obama, she explained it was because of her realizing that Grampy and Caribu were not worthy, she felt the same way about Bush in 00 but for some reason back then she voted for him because of her hatred of Clinton (I know, Gore ran then, but that is another story)

        And that is the point...

You may find yourself fearful of blacks, but then convince yourself that those far away blacks are not so bad. I might fathom a guess and say that about 8% of the people who voted for Barack Obama are in fact racists (not the virulent angry kind) and about 20% are like my mom, but as I said, they all felt safe enough from a distance to vote for him.

Race relations in America is an issue that will not go away until we all come to terms that we are all humans! We all bleed the same stuff! And jerks like Rush, Glenn, Mike (Savage), etc are not making things any better!

And who knows more about racism than you?

...I want racial quotas in basketball so that there is an equal number of non-black athletes. Am I going
to get any of those things? Didn't think so.

People are still people. When people talk before they think, they can say stupid and derogatory
things. To cite every incidence as "racism" is overreaching.

Savage has a point. Every neighborhood that illegals have migrated to has gone down the tubes. My birthplace of Van Nuys, CA is like "little Mexico" now. Shootings, rapings, pillaging, drive-by's, grafiti,
prostitution, drugs, (you know, all the things that go along with the Mexican-illegal population. Even
the African-American neighborhoods are in awe!

        by zamfir273114 (August 05, 2008 9:27 pm ET)
Then why is it that every one of these Mexican populated areas crime-ridden? Really, all P.C. aside,
can you tell me why the real estate prices decrease in these areas? One more thing, why are the
prisons filled with Mexicans? P.C. aside. See, nothing ever gets done because everybody is afraid to
        talk about these things.

I don't have to agree with someone in order to value free speech. Sure, Imus et. Al. say some nasty
comments; however, unless you can diminish his listenership or his value, your barking up the wrong
tree. If Hillary were black, you could resort to using Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton. Unfortunately, they
only come running when black folk are ridiculed. Hmm, that seems a little "racist" in and of itself.

That is Mr. Hussein's, I mean Obama's, name. Coulter only speaks what millions of American's think.
The American people have a right to know who they are voting for. Barack Hussein Obama.

If Kilmeade had known the P.C. police were going to take him out of context, he should have rephrased
his statement in a more P.C/B.S. way. What he is saying might be correct though: research
done in Sweden might have no correlation to research done in the United States because the United
States is a much less limited gene-pool. MMFA inferred that he was somehow saying one was
        greater than the other.

Afterall, in is well-known that in many Latin American countries, many predominantly "Spanish" individuals look down on the darker "Mestizo" varieties. It's disgusting. Sotomeyer is very white looking. I hope they check this woman."

This is the equivalent of "I cannot be racist, I have a black friend".
It really is ridiculous. Many misogynists have wives and girlfriends. There being a black president and black commentators is not indicative of a lack of racism, their treatment and what is written about them is an indication.

Exactly. Wasn't it the former Atlanta Braves pitcher John Rocker who said, "I'm not racist. I've had at least 5 black guys in my house..."

Which later, DL Hughley said (along the lines of), "If you can TELL ME how many black men have actually been in your house, you're racist as a motherf*****!"

Zamfir, this experiment in 2002 was pretty much the clincher for me. If things have changed since then, I would be more than happy to hear the evidence of it:

Limbaugh and Beck aren't just "playing into" racial fears...they are actively fanning the flames. Limbaugh is more direct and sinister about it. Beck is just clueless.

I'm starting to think that Roland Martin is one of, if not the only sane individual on cable TV news these days. Sometimes when I see him on TV, he looks as if he just wants to give himself a palm face every few seconds while trying to rebut the idiocy of others.
