Wasn't he caught recently saying Obama wanted to shut him up and cried about how wrong it was to silence opposition? Oops...

Yes, he was. He has spent a lot of his time railing about how people are out to get him. But he brings it on himself.

What the hell is wrong with this guy..aside from the fact that he's crazy? Isn't Glennnn Beck the same guy who looks deeply into the camera and, with a feigned look of gravitas and sincerity, presents himself as the calm voice of reason...and who denounces incivility in public discourse?

Glenn has multiple personalities. That's the easiest excuse to give.

He tries to be an entertainer, a comedian, a politician, an insider, a journalist, a talk-show host, and a radio jock.

He needs to be ONE of those.

The fact his little chipmunks egg him on in the background doesn't help his case for anything he says in being believable.

"They do something called 'news', we're not really sure what it is." Mr. Beck, this is likely the most truthful thing you have ever said, or likely will say.

You should really credit Stephen Leacock, Mr. Beck, who famously penned "'Shut up,' he explained." This is the foundation of your entire career.

Just be sure to "shut the hell up" when he speaks.

Jaysus, Becky, you sure schooled Mika!

This guy makes millions for this drivel?

I am not now, nor have I ever been, and admirer of conservatism or conservatives. Nevertheless I almost get a twinge of sadness when I consider that a movement which once had the formidable James F. Buckley as its voice now has this cretin.

Buckley was an eloquent speaker but hardly the model of civility. Didn't he and Gore Vidal nearly come to blows on a talk show once?

Yes they did. Don't get me wrong, I despised Buckley. But I had to respect his ability to argue, usually in a civilized (if arrogant) manner. If you accepted his basic premise (which I rarely if ever did) you almost had to agree with his conclusion, because his logic was so sound.

Beck, on the other hand, doesn't go near logic. He's all over the map, with lachrymose displays and idiotic free associations.

Here's a link to part of their exchange. In this clip, it's mostly verbal with Vidal calling WFB a Crypto-Nazi and WFB calling Vidal a (begins with Q and rhymes with steer.)

WFB does threaten to sock him in his "God damned face and he'll stay plastered." It's part 4 of 5 clips.

Gotta love Vidal's response. He immediately knows he won the argument when the "eloquent" Buckley resorts to violence. Vidal endured a life of homophobic attacks and wits like Buckley quickly had the rug pulled out from under them. Remember Mailer's attack? Like him or not, Vidal rocks a debate.

My thoughts exactly. Which brings us to the inevitable question... What does this lying sack of sh*t do that makes him worth $30 million a year to the Republican Propaganda Machine?

It's really hard to argue that he remains on his perch due to "Free Market Forces", when he's hemorrhaging sponsors.

What is his value to them?

Typical right wing argument. Shut up if you disagree with them.

Oh, and Beck seems to be fairly obsessed about MSNBC for a channel that according to him no one knows watches or even knows about.

      I can't believe I'm writing this, but....

I agree: Mika should shut the hell up. On all subjects.

She's not a bright person, she offers few valid insights, and she has an inflated sense of self-importance.

While you may very well be correct in what you say about Mika...

I think the point of this thread is to expose the utter and complete hypocrisy of Glenn Beck who, as MickD pointed out... is a clear case of someone who can dish it out but can not take it being given back to him!

        Glenn Beck is a PUNK!

Point well taken. Setting aside the veracity of Beck's point, he's a hypocrite of the highest order.

Watching clips of him on Olberman's show last night, I came to the conclusion Beck is certifiably mentally ill.

I don't mean "That guy sure is a nut job!" I mean he's got real mental problems, some kind of histrionic/megalomaniac personality disorder.

Ha, a chick magnet. I noticed his profile the other day. He is growing a hump on his back already and he rests his folded arms on his fat belly, like a pregnant woman. Soon he will look like the shadow of Alfred Hitchcock.

My guess is Jesus told him to say that.

Remember this is a guy who spent a weekend fasting and praying all day. Praying for what, who knows, but you can bet that it was the Divine Spirit flowing through Glenn that forced him to tell Mika to shut up. It's also probably the best he could do.

Did we ever find out what they were all being saved from, by attending the 9/12 March? All the melodrama before it, like their lives were at stake if they did not attend. I still do not know what it was about.

She was talking about the Time article written about Beck. This was the exact quote:

“I will say that my reaction [to Beck, (I'm assuming)] is one of real concern. I think it’s because I feel like the conservative voice isn’t being well-represented. That he’s tapping into something that may not be so constructive in terms of raising the bar of the conversations and representing the conservative voice in an elegant way.”

Beck fails to differentiate between hosts/shows on msnbc, not a particularly smart move. Mika is just a side-kick of Joe Scarborough, who is a conservative. Beck doesn't even seem to know who Joe is, which just shows intellectual laziness. (i.e., if he didn't know who they were, he should have found out before acting like an idiot and attacking them.) Besides, he really IS inelegant, so what's the problem? Mika spoke the truth.
