Well, of course it is ... to REPUBLICANS. Because now they're destined to lose the race ...

So he condemns those who play the race card, and the next moment what does he do? He plays the race card!!

By the way, could this guy possibly be more annoying? He can't give any answer or make any statement without some sort of exceptionally snotty, annoying, in your face hostility of a sort that even Dick Cheney would shy away from. Is this the sort of guy to be trying to re-build a party? Some of his single sentences contain two or even more ridiculous, illogical jabs at opponents.

There are only two cards in the GOP's deck: the race card and the hypocrisy card. And Steele masterfully played both of them at the same time. He (and they) have nothing else in the arsenal.

          Don't forget the Victim Card.

Has anybody created a 'political tarot' deck yet? Victim, Race, For The Children, etc.....

Two Republicans pointing out the race of Governor Patterson being shocked what Pres. Obama may have said is too funny. And of course tomorrow both Steele and Simon will change their statements with no mention of race, just watch. LOL

Why didn't Schieffer or Gregory followup with the obvious (loaded) question of the sort all these guys would do for Democrats: "Aren't you now playing the race card yourself?" (Shieffer sort of did - but in the most courteous way possible, with no followup.) Then follow up with repetive tough, harsh questions, interrupting them in the middle of their non-answers, feigning sincere outrage at the very idea that these guys are playing the race card but pretending not to?

Schieffer's brother is a high official in the GOP and Gregory danced with Karl Rove (and probably still does). I wouldn't expect an intelligent follow-up from either of them, unless they were grilling a Democrat. Republicans get softballs lobbed to them.

You have to pay close attention to people who say stuff about playing the race card. Most of the time they say this when people are dealing with very serious matters that are much larger than race, like mankind. When these people say race card, they are saying they have no interest in dealing with the matters at hand, reality. They are saying this is nothing but a game to me.This is the reason they can say no matter what the situation "It is nothing but a card game to me.This is where Mr.Steel, and many others are coming from when they say RACE CARD

So, the first response out of Steele's mouths is not who is more qualified but who is black and who is white? Well done!

Corzine has a better chance in winning (and I think he will) then Patterson. No on in New York wants him.

I completely agree with you; Paterson's approval rating has now plummetted to 32%, the deficit has hit 2.1 billion dollars, and even prominent Harlem politicians are saying " I'ts not about race, it's about victory in '10," according to the Daily News (NY based newspaper) today. Steele is a joke of a leader and is doing the republican party a diservice by being their chairman... Kenan Thompson plays him great on SNL btw!

The Republicans are not destined to lose close races. If Obama would just tell the American People true facts maybe he will created that atmosphere allowing incumbent Democrats to win.

Governor Paterson is just a temporary replacement. And he has done nothing to enhance New York State. The North East is in a heap of trouble.

Don't follow a leader who doesn't lead or you shall fail too.
