Why is he still using an old picture of Beck? Can't he get a more recent one?

A fair point, MagCynic. I have a suggestion: Write to MSNBC. Send an e-mail and suggest a different picture. See what they say. I suspect it's a form of inertia, where once a decent photo is found, there is little momentum internally to change it. Could just be nobody has mentioned it looks a little out of date around the water cooler lately.

Good point, since his schtick's getting older too.

He's using that photo because it captures the look that Olbermann wants to portray . . . Beck as the village idiot. Personally, I think it's a GREAT photo.

After reading the Time article, I've pretty much dismissed Beck as "Political WWE Wrestling" None of it is real.. except his fans. And in the grand scheme of things - they are completely irrelevant.

The show's over for me. Disappointing. In some twisted way, I was kind of hoping he was real.

My recommendation would be for Media Matters to simply write him off. He's so far from reality that you may as well start covering WWE events as well. Or Carrot Top. Or Danny Bonaduce.

As much as i realize that the most important aspect of this piece is the picture of Beck that Olbermann is using....could any recent act by Beck be more revealing?

There is nothing that is so sacred, that the charlatans of the right (Beck, Limbaugh, Coulter, et al) won't exploit in an effort to gain attention and attract the resultant money and audience they get from their actions.

A religion's holiest day? No big deal, just an excuse to use controversy to get mentioned.

All these right-wingers are cynically playing roles. They know the money and power it gives them.

A off-the-wall comment, surely, but worth a Gold????? Must have been a slow news day.
