"It's called freedom of speech, it's called freedom of the press"

Nope you dope, it's called "hate speech" and you can't be considered "the press" unless you report on the news. There is no news presented on his radio or tv shows, just commentary and political opinion which does not "the press" make. If Beck's shows were "the press" then every show on tv that was not scripted would be considered that as well - like American Idol, Survivor, Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader, and Dancing with the Stars; would also be "the press".

One must remember that these comments are probably inspired by Jesus. This is the crowd that on a daily basis asks people to pray for them. Could we really ask for better role models?

LOL Jesus says keep his name out of this mess! Beck and his followers are not inpsired by Jesus The Lamb. Beck is the spawn of Satan- Ol' Lucifer himself. All Beck does is spew hate and inspire fear in peoples hearts- that is not Christ like.

Didn't Stephen King say Beck was Satan's mentally challenged little brother? The new book has Glenn in a Nazi-esque uniform, is he signaling something?

            Stephen King article...

He did indeed, just a snippet in a much larger article about watching things on TV. Also, in the same article, he makes fun of Barney Frank, Terry Bradshaw, and a bunch of other stuff.

When I googled for that article, the first link I came up with was this. Funnily enough, it was a Glen Beck fanboy talking about how Beck SMOKED King on the NY Times bestseller list (imagine that, a Beck fanboy talking about 'ratings' again). Although, I'm pretty sure that King's writings have probably sold about 100 times more than Beck's have overall. It's not even comparable. One man is a writing genius who has put out bestseller after bestseller, and Mr. Beck is a hack who won't even be remembered too long from now.

Yes, I researched it too, I personally adored the T-shirt with Glenn in a safety helmet with horns sticking out. I didn't check out the fanboy article on my own; that is even better than Stephen King in proving what a wasteland Glennie really is. Stephen has had some issues since being hit by that car, or maybe it is just growing older, but he isn't what he was back in the 1980's, but he still has a considerable presence in pop culture writing. Glennie is just jealous, that's all.

He did get pretty messed up when he was hit by that car, and almost died, a few times. I used to live down the Street from him in Bangor, Maine back in the mid to late 90's, and would always see him in the grocery store, at the gym, movies, and so on. I mean, the man has sold well over 300 million books in his career, so it's pretty amazing, and he's done a lot of good stuff for his and my former University, as well as tons of other stuff for the local community, and around the world.

He's a pretty class guy these days.

I quit reading Stephen a long time ago, too many descriptions of grave mold in the teeth for my taste, but I have to admit, he did some really vivid writing and he had some great ideas. I remember when he was starting to recover and he wasn't sure he could write again, I felt very sorry for him, but I could understand. I am glad to see him back, even if he wasn't as prolific or as original as he used to be. I am glad to see he is class act at home, I liked him in the interviews I have seen.

Actually, didn't Joe S win election to the House a few times?

So, Beck, proven wrong again, by history.

Not to defend Joe S here, but:

"In 1994, Scarborough won a tough Republican Party primary for Florida's 1st congressional district. He again campaigned very energetically and defeated the Democrat candidate, Pensacola attorney Vinnie Whibbs, (the son of well respected former Pensacola mayor Vince Whibbs), with 61 percent of the vote, becoming the first Republican to represent the part of the Florida Panhandle since 1879. Scarborough was reelected with 72 percent of the vote in 1996. In 1998 and 2000, he was opposed by only a write-in candidate."

      Joe Scarborough

Glenn, what office have you won? Scarborough was elected, several times over, to the House of Representatives, I'd say, that's a bit more than dog catcher, and at least for a little while, he was making policy and laws instead of being paid to just make glib comments about such things.

Beck, put your money where your mouth is. Run for office, so we can see you destroyed in an election. Beck definitely couldn't win dog catcher (if that's even a position that is elected).

Do Becky and his stooges ever listen to themselves? I just listened to an audio preview of Glennie's latest foray into publishing "Arguing with Idiots" and besides being a bunch of contemptuous emotional drivel and distortions being passed off as fact and logic, the way it is being read is condescending and contemptuous in and of itself. So what if Joe's show isn't as popular, popularity has nothing to do with being correct. Joe was a member of Congress, he has some care and concern for his party, which is a good thing, and he doesn't want to see it hijacked by a contemptuous, anti-intellectual, lying, hatemonger. I am not a Republican, but I have enough respect for the Party to share his concerns. And I applaud Joe for speaking out. Yes, Glenn, as a member of the Press, (but you really aren't, since you consider yourself a commentator and not bound to check facts) you have to right to free speech, however, should you misuse that, by hatemongering and someone does something at your perceived urging, you will be culpable. You would do well to remember that, and claiming to be just a rodeo clown will not help you. Henry II was flogged for his remarks about Becket that lead to his assassination. We don't use whips anymore, but there are legal avenues if something should happen. I just hope your audience catches on to your great load of fraud before anyone gets hurt and drops you back into the gutter you slithered out of.

Scarborough couldn't get elected dogcatcher, but he could (and did) get elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Beck could get voted best checkers player in the "incurably stupid" ward at Bellevue.

Why would freedom of the press be relevant here? Scarborough never said Beck (or any real journalist) should be silenced by our government.

The knee-jerk "freedom of the press" nonsense is just getting so tiresome.

Freedom of the press does not mean you can say ANYTHING you want on television. There is still accountability. Name the hate? Is he serious?? Did he listen to the rest of Joe's comments?

Beck is saying that Scarborough is "casting hate"? Ha! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

But my favorite part is when they say, "When you're talking about what's going on, that's not hatred, that's reality!"

In other words, Beck isn't just an "entertainer", he's actually saying that his statement about President Obama being a racist is a fact. He WANTS people to believe the bile that he spews. I think this proves once and for all that Scarborough is right.
