The end is nigh!
So if the government isnt supposed to take care of us and watch out for us, Beck is opposed to Medicare, Social Security, the EPA, the Food and Drug administration and.... the military, right?
Well, not so much in our schools, no, Mr. Beck. But we are hearing anti-capitalism in the press. Also some anti-government rhetoric, of course. That's to be expected, since the current administration didn't fulfill the Republican desire to invade the 'country' of Africa, you betcha.
"It is not the job of the government to watch out for us and to take care of us. It is NOT the government's job."
I understand that this is your viewpoint, Mr. Beck. So, tell me truthfully, now, did you support the Patriot Act? How about a larger military? Would you support that? Oh, right. Sorry. You mean it's not government's job to protect the public at large from predation by the wealthy and powerful. That's what you meant.
1. Take your home off of the grid. No phones. No cell phones. No electricity. No running water. No sewer. And no publicly maintained road going into your home.
2. Call the local police department and tell them not to patrol near your home.
3. Call the local fire department, and tell them that if if your home is on fire, don't bother coming out, I'll protect myself.
4. Don't drive on, or use, public roads.
And so on, and so forth. You all get the point.
The government, like it or not, is very much a part of our day to day lives, and they (the government) does do good things all of the time, and does things that both protect us, and enrich our lives, and let us live the lives we want to live. These a-holes never seem to understand that. If you were to ask them how the government intrudes upon their day to day activities, probably not a one of them could really tell you how that happens. Or even, IF it happens. Are they being prevented from doing things that they'd like to do because of the government? Yeah, probably not.

The reason Glenn hates this is because he is against the environment and consumerism. He hates it when anyone challenges his greed and right to sell things or drive his Escalade. He doesn't want to face the fact that Americans do use enormous amounts of the finite resources of the planet. Ah well.

What about the preamble of the Constituion?
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, ensure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
Literally all of those goals sound like looking out for the people.
I just love the irony of idiots in Congress bemoaning taxes while sitting in their taxpayer-funded offices, with their taxpayer-funded staffs, their taxpayer-funded office equipment, their taxpayer-funded clothing, their taxpayer-funded haircuts, their taxpayer-funded meals, their taxpayer-funded transportation, their taxpayer-funded insurance. DARN those taxes!
