There is no such thing as freedom of speech. Will they ever understand that concept?

I love when the righties claim that freedom of religion doesn't mean freedom from religion and that I must pick a religion and then I am free to practice it.

An approved reichwing fundamentalist christian religion. And remember, Catholics only count when fundies are doing their yearly tally of how many christians vs muslims are in the world. Once the count is over the pope goes back to being satan incarnate.

I thought Catholics only counted when it came to abortion - outside of that (WOT, Death Penalty), they didn't count...

And you'd think that Catholics would catch on to that. The same with Jews. The right-wing, fundamentalist Christians use both to forward their own agenda while in reality, according to them, the Catholics and Jews will be thrown into the fiery pit with the rest of the non-believers.

WK, as a recovering Catholic, I couldn't agree more. It's their damn patriarchy that marginalizes them. The old men in Rome know that the abortion issue keeps them in control (especially vis a vis women) and they hide behind it, making little assertion when it comes to war and death penalty politics.

Myself, I can't even be called a recovering Catholic anymore.

I've read the bumper stickers saying that I can't be Pro-choice and Catholic. So I'm no longer Catholic.

We should print up some bumper stickers saying you can't be pro-war and Catholic.

Don't worry - the president saying shutup to the CEO's of big insurance mean nothing. As long as they can lobby and hand millions to congressman, do they even really care? Passing reform laws for lobbying and campaign funding is the only way to make the congress work for the people. I love how congressman are now openly defending big insurance's opposition to healthcare reform by using propaganda ads. This healthcare debate just proves how much sway businesses have over our government like nothing before it. How about shut up Mcconnell - how much money is blue cross/blue shield giving you this year?? You are as corrupt as the sky is blue.

I wish it was just the GOP. The Democrats do not act like liberals. They have little concern for issues of fairness and equal opportunity. It seems everyone in office knows the only way to ge re-elected is to make sure big corporate interests are met first and foremost.

What I find funny is that we end up giving the large corporations everything they want in the name of "free enterprise" or capitalism. In reality it is anything, but that as in reality they only end up promoting anti-competitive policy and an oligopolistic economic sctructure.

You ain't seen nothin' yet. Just wait until the SCOTUS decides the 'Hillary: The Movie' campaign finance case. It seems likely Roberts and the other cons will ignore precedent and rule that giving money is protected free speech.

I really hope they do not do that. It would be a complete disaster. As if the major corporations do not have enough influence over the election/political system already - even with current restrictions in place!

First of all, if you suck at the government teat, you play by the government's rules. Simple as that. Humana doesn't want to abide by Federal regulations? Fine. Deal them out of Medicare money. Plenty of others ready to take their place.

The crux of the problem seems to be that Humana used a list of Medicare enrollees names and addresses which they got from the U.S. Government as a mailing list to disseminate propaganda. On it's face, this is an offensive and vile act, and it's hardly surprising that federal guidelines prohibit it.

"...everything they said was pretty objective and absolutely truthful." Well, that's the beauty of preaching to the choir. I've read the document myself, Mr. Johnson.

"Leading health reform proposals being considered in Washington, D.C., this summer include billions in Medicare Advantage funding cuts." The leading health reform proposal being considered is HR 3200, and it contains no such language.

"... millions of seniors and disabled individuals could lose many of the important benefits and services that make Medicare Advantage health plans so valuable." Notice the use of the word 'could'. This makes it speculation, and if it were mere baseless speculation I could overlook it. However, it is clearly an attempt to frighten seniors over what might happen. Imagining what the future 'could' be like is clearly not factual, to wit: where is my flying car?!

Lastly, this entire piece of... well, propaganda, arrived in mailboxes in envelopes indicating that important coverage information was inside, as opposed to being a commercial for the health insurance industry on why reform of that industry is bad.

Humana has done a despicable, and likely an illegal thing. FOX Propaganda is cheering them on. FCC? Are you listening?

I like how they say "Leading health care proposals". Like you said, the leading proposal has no such language. But other proposals might. Whose to say how many proposals are out there? While the one being debated will not cut Medicare, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th ones down the line might. In a field of 20 proposals, all four are considered "leading proposals". This would mean that Humana isn't "lying" but they definitely are misleading people in order to push an agenda under the veil of informing them on a major coverage issue.

How intelligent do you have to be exactly to become a Fox News contributor these days? The last I heard Mr. Murdoch was judging applicants based on their Disney Scene It! Trivia scores, but I could be wrong. Rumor has it, that's how Hannity got the job.
