Promoting newest conspiracy theory, Beck claims Drudge-hyped school kids video is "indoctrination," ties to Van Jones, NEA, Tides

EMBED

Beck weaves the Drudge-hyped video of school children into the tapestry of his conspiracy theories:

BECK: This is indoctrination. This should horrify the American people. And you can separate yourself from it all you want, you can say "Well that is not the Democrats that are doing it, that's not Barack Obama." You know what let me tell you something, how many, how many, how many not just signs of smoke, how many fires must we have before we have to say OK wait a minute. Look if there was nobody in Barack Obama's administration that was into indoctrination, if, if, if Valerie Jarrett was not involved in the NEA indoctrination, in the propaganda, if we didn't have Van Jones in the administration, if we didn't have Tides putting out what we showed you earlier this week that is anti-capitalist, if we didn't have all of these things that are not smoke, they're fire, I'd agree with you. This is a just a crazy teacher, this is a crazy teacher. We've dismissed the people that, you know, are making those kids, you know, march in the military fatigues going "For Barack Obama I--" OK alright, don't know, we don't know who these people are. But haven't we seen enough yet to say "Wo, wait a minute. I may have voted for the guy, but this is not what I had in mind."

Wow, more reichwingers exploiting kids for political gain! I think the parents that approve of their kids singing that song should direct a little anger at Beck for exploiting their kids.

Which is worse, teachers like the one portrayed in this video or TV and radio shock jocks constantly fulminating against the legitimate elected President of the United States?

Does someone want to remind Glenn Beck that there is a hymnl in the Mormon Church that praises Joseph Smith?

Does he not know that despite the song being in the hymn book "Praise to the Man". The Mormon Church defends the position that they do not worship the President Modern and Old despite having the hymn in their hymn books.

Is this the same video that was shown before the election? If so, it was the parents who put these kids up to this.

No, it's a video from this past June, after Obama was in office. The earlier one? That's the one where they compared children of Obama supporters who were taught a couple of songs saying that Obama would bring about change. Then someone tacked on the one about German school children, in a schoolroom setting, being propagandized to believe that Hitler was their messiah.

More evidence of false equivalency from some righty.

This is just silly. While I think the video is ill-advised, it is strictly the production of the school and it is the responsibility of the parents to take action or not take action.

This has nothing to do with Obama or the Democrats or any of the other groups that Beck the jerk mentioned.

The only demagogue here is you Glenn! I don't think I was wrong to vote for President Obama. I don't think he is doing a bad job, but he sure got the office at a bad time. I have seen parts of this video, a bunch of kids at a school singing about making America strong and valuing people of all races as equal and getting paid for equally for hard work. What is so terrible about that? I didn't see any children in cammy, did you? I did hear both you and at least one Fox personality give out the name of the school, inviting the school to be harassed. That was what you meant to do with the casual name drop, wasn't it. Get real, the only demagogue I see is on a bookcover, a pudgy blond white guy in a uniform that looks an awful like like a Nazi Luffwaffe Officer's uniform, (minus a few insignia) and this same doughyboy held a rally whose main logo was a clenched red fist. Why aren't you saying anything about him? Don't you think he is up to no good? I sure do.

I have never been a big fan of getting kids to like politicians or be political at such a young age. It used to make me sick when Rush Limbaugh would show videos on his TV show of little kids mimicing Rush. I imagine that is how some parents may feel if they do not like Obama. This is a legitimate beef.

I would not want my own children singing the praises of GWB.

Me, either, but the parents of these children put this together. They are the ones to be denigrated, if anyone is, not Obama nor the rest of Beck's laundry list of "scary people."

Well, I do not know the details about who put this together, but it was not a good idea. Beck and his ilk are predictably dumb enought to try to link this with Obama and/or ACORN from their track record.

Beck and the rest of the idiots can do what they like, but what the media should be reporting is that this was either done with or without the permission of the parents . . . it's up to the parents to object or take responsibility for it.

This crap is getting out of control and, me, personally, I'm SICK of it.

So, when GWB, or any other President is in office, you don't think that kids should look up the President and his office? I do. I wouldn't want my kids to be taught a song that falsely praised Bush for things he didn't do, but in this song, Obama is praised for equal pay for equal work, for non-discrimination and equal opportunity, and for lending a helping hand to make our nation strong.

DThere can be disagreement though about what we think is praiseworthy. I really don't think schools should be making those choices.

I can just imagine my kids singing "Bush kept us safe!" or some other bs. Some may argue that it is a true statement, but I disagree completely.

I happen to agree with you; this strikes me as an amazingly stupid and inappropriate activity for a school to be carrying out. And I would be PLENTY infuriated if my kid was being taught to chant "George W Bush, he wants us all to lend a hand to make our country safe again" or some such nonsense.

And it doesn't matter what the President accomplishes or doesnt' accomplish- the most these kids should be singing is something generic like "we all have a role to play to make our country strong today" or something like that.

This isn't "indoctrination," but it is inappropriate and just feeds red meat to the right-wingers who will latch on to anything to spread their "Obama wants to brainwash our kids" garbage.

So, there's some disagreement over whether or not equal pay for equal work is praiseworthy? See, I don't think there is, except for people so ideologically opposed to Obama that they can't see the forest for the trees. The same with the non-discrimination and equal opportunity verses. And how could anyone have an issue with children being told that we should stick together as a nation to make our country stronger during troubled times?

Yeah, there are some things that would be controversial. Others, not so much. But I guess some of us can see nuance better than others can.

              Seriously?

              George W Bush
              Protecting America from Terrorist Attacks
              Spreading Liberty around the world
              mmmmm mmmmmm mmmmmm

              George W Bush
We are proud to be Americans
Tax cuts for the people who give us jobs
              mmmmm mmmmmm mmmmmm

Come on. It doesnt matter what the issues being chanted about were. This is NOT an appropriate school activity!

"How could anyone have an issue with children being told that we should stick together and make our country stronger..."

Nobody. That sounds like the start of a good song. Leaving the President's name out of it, especially as a chant which suggests that All These Good Things will come from him and only him, is dead wrong. If you can't see that, you are the one who has the problem seeing the forest for the trees.

Boy, Glenn, you sure are proud of your new ten-dollar word, "Indoctrination." He just can't say it often enough.

And does anyone in the media whine more than Beck? "Why can't they SEE this? What's WRONG with people? Why aren't they as nuts as I AM?" (Ok, he didn't actually say the last one, but...)

And does anyone say "Uhhhhhh....but.....uhhhh...ummmm...I'm not sure, ummm....Uhhh, I think this came from...ummmm.........I forget the name.....Ummmmm...." as often as this clown does? It's like he's on the edge of saying "oh I can't go through with this, never mind." Or at least like he gets to the station five seconds before the red light goes on and he has done zero planning in advance.

Glenn, YOU did NOT vote for the guy, and what I had in mind, along with most of the 53% of the country that DID vote for the man, is as far from what YOU have in YOUR MIND as can possibly be.

And there is no SMOKE. You have not shown any SMOKE. You've BLOWN some SMOKE (and possibly inhaled) and used some mirrors to make it look like SMOKE, but that's all you got: SMOKE & MIRRORS.

While it's nice to not want any politicizing of kids in schools, it will always happen. The most upsetting thing to me about this - this video should NOT have shown up on the internet in the first place. Their faces are being shown to viewers worldwide, and they will be criticized for something they may or may not believe. If I was a parent, no matter how I felt politically, I would be furious that somehow my child ended up on the internet and now on TV. FOX should not be plastering this all over their shows - it's about protection and privacy for those most vulnerable to exploitation - our children.

I should be horrified at school children singing this:

      Hmm, hmm, hmm
      Barack Hussein Obama
He said we must all lend a hand
To make this Country strong again

Wow, more evidence he's a socialist. I'm offended he wants children to understand the importance of charity. Bastard!

      Hmm, hmm, hmm
      Barack Hussein Obama
He said we must be fair today
      Equal work means equal pay

      Hmm, hmm, hmm
      Barack Hussein Obama
He said we all must take a stance
To make sure everyone gets a chance

How DARE Obama teach our children fairness. What an evil man.

      Hmm, hmm, hmm
      Barack Hussein Obama
He said red, yellow, black, or white,
All are equal in his sight

OH MY GOD! "Red, yellow, black, or white, ALL are equal in his sight"?????? How DARE Obama try to teach our children TOLERANCE.

      Hmm, hmm, hmm
      Barack Hussein Obama
      Yes, hmm, hmm, hmm
      Barack Hussein Obama

Am I seriosuly supposed to be offended that children are singing this???? Where is the indoctrination? Where is the praise, even?

You can't be serious- "where is the praise, even?" So if I type

        George W Bush
He says we must spread liberty
        Liberty is a beautiful tree
        Liberty is for everyone

        George W Bush
        Everyone should have a job
to earn money and feed our children
        Everyone pulls their own weight

You'd have no objection? You don't see the praise?

I wouldn't want my kids chanting about ANY President, thanks anyway. It's kind of scary that you are so partisan you can't see the problem here.

Yes, I would have objected to what you just wrote. In the Obama lyrics they are talking about equality, justice, charity and fairness. In yours, GWB is talking about selfishness and bloodshed in the name of Liberty.

          See the difference?

The right is being partisan. Period. They have a special hatred for Obama and to drugde up a video that is several months old and claim that Obama is indoctrinating our children is RIDICULOUS. PERIOD.
