      Yeah,

Bill is still trying to reach out to the middle of the road. To take a reasoned, slightly left-of-center approach.

Unfortunately, the conservative slime media is off on a completely different agenda.

Lawrence is dead on target, as usual. Bill Clinton is grossly underestimating the power and prestige of today's breed of right-wing professional liar.

Clinton's says "it's not as strong as it was because America has changed demographically but it's not as virile as it was." I can agree with Bill Clinton that America has changed demographically from the time when he was president. I can some minor shred of truth that the opposition to Obama "the president" isn't quite as strong. However, I find that opposition to Obama "the African-American president" is much more virulent. If Obama were one of the white good old boys, opposition percentagewise might be less. But he is not one of the good old white boys, and that remains in my mind the major reason why his opposition is so mean and unrelenting. During times of economic distress, racism has tended to increase because of the frustration of some groups. I have not seen the nastiness of the opposition to the president.

President Bush was disliked as president because of the things that he has done which in my estimation have compromised the Constitution of the United States. President Johnson was vilified for escalating the crisis in Vietnam. His administration made up numbers and foisted them on the American public. The nastiness of the opposition to Johnson does not compare with what is currently in place. The Republican Party and the conservative movement at the time of Johnson did not embrace the radical religious right wing nuts that the current Republican Party seems to embrace.

OK Larry, where do I sign up to be a card carrying member of the VRWC?

Maybe I can just claim be a VRWC activist!
