That's rich. How exactly would having the Olympics in an American city end up being the biggest disaster ever? Sure, traffic would be a nightmare, but I'm sure there must be SOMETHING in the history of American politics that eclipses the potential of having the 2016 Olympics here......
Hmmmm.......
I mean, sure it's not politics, but I think it's bad enough that those kind of boundaries don't matter anymore.
Unemployment numbers
Unemployment will top 10% soon. I'm betting it hits 11% by Bambi's one year mark.
But, of course, we don't want the prestige of hosting the Olympic games...no, no, no. Let some other country have it.
"They say that the Olympics will come to Chicago if we're fortunate enough to be selected, but really it's coming to America, and I can't think of a better city to represent the United States than Chicago." --- George W. Bush
WHO? Who said it? When, where, on what basis?
You know what gets me about this as much as, if not more than, anything else about it? The utter, craven intellectual cowardice of advancing innuendo in a way by which you can later claim that you have no responsibility for it. The utterly craven, utterly cowardly, act of these rancid Death Eaters in refusing to be responsible for the meaning of their own words.
Except of course durring the:
1904 Summer Games in St. Louis
1932 Summer Games in LA
1932 Winter Games in Lake Placid (NY)
1960 Winter Games in Squaw Valley (CA)
1980 Winter Games in Lake Placid
1984 Summer Games in LA
1996 Summer Games in Atlanta
2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City (Utah)
But other then those 8 times we have never seen a disaster like this in American Politics :)
Easily Bush/Cheney in recent memory.
However, frequently these trappings of the Olympics become nothing more than a white elephant. There has to be a better use for the money in regards to infrastructure at this time.
