Rush Limbaugh - now projecting in high-deaf
I sent him about 10 links - all from mediamatters. I'm sure he won't watch any of them and just claim that mediamatters is "biased."
We collectively shake our heads at you, Rush.
In the corner you go, you know where the dunce cap is.
Randy
On the other hand, I think Glenn Beck is genuinely stupid. That's just my take - I can see why Rush developed such a following with his racist remarks and his evil musings that can be somewhat witty at times (and his minions never get offended because they think the exact same way about the world), but Beck is not funny and just completely moronic and yet people still watch him blubbering up there at that chalk board and shedding fake tears for America.
Beck, for example, went too far with his hate and announced that he thought Obama has a "deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture." Now look what's happened to Beck. Progressives on the left have some ammunition with which they can arm themselves in their campaign to get high profile advertisers to boycott his show. Rush says things like "oreo cookie" and other snide racist remarks that are definitely insulting but not blatantly ridiculous or racist like Beck's statement was. Therefore Rush keeps operating because he doesn't provide enough ammo for his "enemies" to use to oppose him successfully with a boycott or something similar. Plus Rush is strictly talk radio (does he still get played on TV like he did 15 years ago?) which probably helps.
I agree, I don't think Rush is dumb either, however neither is he intelligent. Rush is smart, he knows the lines that can't be crossed; which is why he has gotten away with so much crud. He is fast talker, and always has an explanation (always bogus)to defend himself. The easily led take him at his word. Intelligent people see through it, and call him on it.
He then feigns anger and outrage, and turns the argument around to those criticizing him. If you listen to him long enough, there are times he sounds like he knows what he is talking about until you realize he is just regurgitating what someone else has told him. A case in point is how the Democrats are going to get health care through Congress. Any political science major in college would be able to deduce the same possible Democratic strategy that he has been talking about. He simply is not that well informed about how Congress works, somebody (Karl Rove, or one of his minions)informed him. Rush's forte is not parliamentary procedure, it is fear mongering, and anger.
He then gets on the radio and sounds well informed on the inner workings and strategies used by Congress. He is fraud.
Like all successful frauds, he is smart, but not intelligent
Side note, "race baiters" wasn't that a common code word during the 50' and 60's to describe civil rights activists? What's next calling people northen agitators? Can we please start the 21qst century?
